Overview

About the property

Seasonally, Circa 1894's Rv Offers Accommodation For Up To 4.

The RV has a queen sized bed, plus a pullout sofa (double) bed, with three piece bath, living and dining areas, kitchenette, CD and cassette player, along with lots of 60s and 70s music, and a patio. Come for a day or stay for a week.

As part of the experience here at Circa 1894 B&B, and for a small additional charge ($20.00 daily), guests are welcome to enjoy the, Adult Only, Circa 1894 Spa. The Spa is located on the property and is attached to Circa 1894 B&B/Guest House, which, itself is located in a former United Church, which was renovated in 2013.

Experience our saunas (we have three, two FAR Infra-red and one Finnish) and our hot tubs and, for the full Thermo-Therapy experience, a cool/cold tub. Relax in the indoor quiet room or outside, beside the pond or on one of the three levels of decks.

For a small extra fee you can enjoy afternoon tea ($5.00 each). As well, you may be able book a massage or Reiki treatment. Lunch -$15 or dinner - $25 (must be pre-arranged) are sometmes available. Don't hesitate to inquire. Come Pamper Yourself.

There are several golf courses within very easy driving distance; many festivals, including The Maple Syrup Festival in April; the Guinness World Book of Records Kilt Run in June; free music in the park at The Stewart Park Festival in July and the Garlic Festival and The Blue Skies Festival in August. There is much to see and do.

We are just one hour from Canada's Capital and all that Ottawa has to offer. Closer to home, Purdon Conservation Area, about a 6 minutes drive, boasted 16,000 blooms in 2015; the largest colony of Lady Slipper Orchids in Canada (and possibly North America). The last week in June and early July is the best time for viewing.

More detail on the Spa portion of our facility: To our knowledge, Circa 1894 Day Spa is the only facility providing the NIR and FAR-Infra-red experience in the area. Both are located inside.

Nestled in the lower level of the three decks, enjoy our outdoor authentic, Amish built, Finnish Sauna and an original wooden tub. We vary the temperature depending on the season and demand. On the middle deck you can lounge in our large chlorine-free hot tub. The upper deck features a third (also chlorine-free) tub, which we use as our cool/cold tub. With the tubs and saunas you can experience Thermo-therapy, which consists of hot/cold/relax/repeat/repeat.

Each level has ample seating for relaxation or you can step inside and enjoy the quiet room (which doubles as a therapy room , where you can book a massage or a Reiki treatment - extra fee applies) and fireplace with its beautiful oak mantel, which speaks of yesteryear.

We are also pleased to be offering various therapies and themed stays, by appointment only. One of these themes will be a package that will include the preparation and serving of all the 'meals' necessary for a three day warming cleanse.

Note that, to insure quiet relaxation, the Spa is Adults only. Smoking is not permitted on the premises.

Because they use superior, botanically based products, we have chosen to partner with Arbonne for our shampoo and body wash in the Day Spa. This is in line with our concept for the renovation, the build and the business; one of sustainability and ease to the planet. A sampling of our many testimonials:

Thank you Donna & Cam - Staying here made our trip for our son's wedding all the more special! - James and Lorraine S., Saskatchewan, 6 July 2016

Lovely accommodation, people & food! We'll undoubtedly be back. - Paul & Sue, Ottawa, 19 June 2016

Thanks for all the hard work and love you put into hosting, Donna! We are so grateful to have you as a member of our community and wish you the best as you continue your hosting journey with us! - Miranda and your friends at Airbnb

We spent one night in Donna's B&B place by incident ( while our previous booking was cancelled by the host illegally and Airbnb customer service found it for us), so we had to drive for another 1.30+ hours after hours of driving from Toronto and we felt frustrated . We got there near midnight, but everything was set up already and we received a truly warm welcome from Donna and her lovely husband. We were impressed by their excellent job in renovating there using green technology. They prepared a delicious breakfast and spent their time describing their projects. My son played the old organ instrument! We just felt as our own home and loved Donna and her husband as our own family members. Thank you so much and looking forward to seeing you again. Hamid and family, May, 2016 (review from Airbnb site).

This a great place to escape the city, relax in the tubs and get a massage. Spend the night and wake to a huge breakfast. Nothing was missed, great hosts and wonderful conversations. We'll be back :-). Sutton's, Ottawa, April 24/16

Absolutely lovely! Gracious & very accommodating hostess. Serene & welcoming. Delicious breakfast!! Wendy, Ottawa, 24 Apr 16

What a delight! Serene energy here, amazing massage, great saunas and tubs and healthy, tasty meals. Thank you for a most restorative stay, Donna & Cam. You have an oasis here. Chris, Almonte, ON, March 17/16

Chris' review on TripAdviser: A friend and I had a "girlfriend" reunion at Circa 1894 this week. We only stayed one night but it felt like we'd had a complete spa holiday. Donna and Cam have done an amazing job turning a church into a sacred and beautiful B&B spa retreat. The bedrooms are cosy with lovely, comfortable beds. There are two guest rooms that open out to a private sitting area/kitchenette with TV and wall-mounted fireplace. The kitchenette is thoughtfully equipped with everything you need to make a snack or beverage.

The spa is in the same building as the suite. Indoors, there are change rooms, a tranquil sitting area with a fireplace and waterfall wall where gentle music creates a relaxed quiet area for reading and relaxing. Adjoining the sitting area is a massage/treatment room and two saunas. Outside, on three levels of decks, are two hot tubs and a steam sauna. The saunas and hot tubs are totally rejuvenating.

The entire place is sparkling clean and brand new. Cam and Donna are masters of recycling and green design and construction. They have artfully restored and redesigned a former church with custom woodworking, expert craftsmanship and an eye for building, salvaging, furnishing and gathering the perfect recycled materials, fixtures and decor items to create a most inviting and serene space to restore body, mind and soul.

We enjoyed a tasty lunch and wholesome dinner during our stay. The food is home-made from local products and Donna and Cam do everything possible to make you feel relaxed and spoiled. The spa can be booked for a few hours or you can spend several days being treated to total pampering in the first-rate facilities. We each had a deep tissue massage with Christa, an RMT and she skilfully worked out all our stress knots.

We were not expecting to find such well equipped spa with an array of treatments and luxurious, serene amenities in Lanark. Our stay was a total delight. Thanks Donna and Cam for sharing your cathedral of restoration with us. We'd recommend this as a getaway for couples, girlfriends or by yourself for several hours or days any time of the year!

What a lovely March break getaway! This was exactly what I needed - relaxing spas, wonderful food - and lovely hosts. Thanks you so much, Donna & Cam. Diane, Oshawa, March 17/16

Thank you so much Donna & Cam. We loved our stay and really appreciated our quiet time in the hot tub together. Breakfast and the conversation was wonderful too. We will definitely pass along the good word about this place. Lindsay, Perth, Jan 25/16

We had a wonderful relaxing experience, enjoyed the spa, food and lots of bridge. Thanks Donna and Cam. Bridge Ladies of Kingston, ON, Jan 20/16.

About Donna Dillman

For four decades, your hostess, Donna Dillman, has been an entrepreneur, having owned and managed a pet store, a B&B and guest house, (10 minutes north of the current location) a general store and a farm. In 1999, she began working as an energy healer, leading to her work as a life coach.

In 2007, Donna supported the effort to stop drilling for uranium in the Sharbot Lake area by spending 68 days fasting. 2010 found her walking the Camino in northern Spain.

More recently, she has also supported her partner, Cam Allen, in the renovation of the former Circa 1894 Church, where they now live and where the RV and B&B is located, as well as in the construction of the newly added Day Spa.

Donna Dillman purchased this recreational vehicle in 2013

Why Donna Dillman chose Lanark Highlands

Donna's partner, Cam Allen, a home inspector and now retired builder, needed a project. He has a strong belief that older homes can be renovated in a sustainable way. With that in mind, we purchased and renovated, turning a former United Church (circa 1894) into a showpiece that we are thrilled to share with our B&B and RV guests. Having moved in, in September of 2013, we quickly began renovations to the former Sunday School/Education Room, which is where the B&B is located. Cam then envisioned and designed what became the Circa 1894 Day Spa, which is available to adult guests at no extra charge. Because the demand for accommodation has been so great, we decided to open up our beautiful 27 ft. RV for bookings. Effective July 2017, we have added a 30' Coachmen Chaparral for additional accommodations at Circa 1894. Bring your friends and come pamper yourself.

What makes this recreational vehicle unique

Where else can you B&B in an RV and enjoy all that glamping has to offer (camping in luxury); breakfast in a former church and also enjoy Spa amenities. We live here and I feel like I am on holiday all the time. Come join me and pamper yourself with all we have to offer.
