About the property

Hand Crafted Cabin on Belden Pond

Our Cabin on Belden Pond is just the place for a romantic escape, solitary retreat, or gathering place for family and friends. As you drive down the lane to the cabin you will leave behind the hustle of life and enter the solitude of this wifi-free, solar powered refuge. The hand hewn logs accommodate an open-style living space that possesses a unique charm with a comfortable, eclectic mix of vintage and hand crafted furnishings and accents inspired by nature. Two bedrooms sleep six with additional bunk space for children and a full bath with a custom walk-in shower.

However delightful you may find the interior, be sure to let the woods and water lure you outside. Situated on rugged ledges overlooking the pond, our cabin is surrounded by woods with a flag stone patio that extends via stone path to the edge of the water and dock. Make “coffee on the rocks” or a sunrise swim part of your morning routine. After exploring the woods or adventuring out of the valley, finish your day by a cozy fire in the outdoor pit or an evening paddle. The Cabin is currently available from June to October. For larger reunions or couples wanting separate accommodations, we have the Wright Camp, also ready for guests, just down the trail from the cabin. This camp sleeps four (one full bed, two twins or one king) with a full bath, kitchen, exterior deck, and open view with easy access to the pond.

We’d love to help make your stay memorable and inspire you to return. Thank you!

We loved it here!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is a work of art. We loved being here. When sitting outside the first day we decided it was the most quiet place we've ever been. We saw a shooting star, canoed, and we read the (Hostile Valley) Valley Vixen book by the warmth of the woodstove. This cabin is perfectly located to go to Belfast (to eat at Chase Daily) and Unity for the Common Ground Fair. The bed was perfectly comfortable too.

An amazing piece of serenity

  • 5 of 5

I've pondered how to write a review that will do this property the justice it deserves. It is an amazing combination of old fashioned building principles coupled with modern solar technology all wrapped up in a gentle artistry that will (or should) leave you awestruck. If the concept of this property being "off the grid" makes you shy away from renting it, don't let it. We never noticed a dip in available power even during a long hot shower. Our cell phones had perfect signal and even on the rainy Sunday afternoon, the monitor heater supplemented the beautiful wood fire for a quiet cozy afternoon. If you are in love with mother nature and respect how a cup of coffee at dawn is truly majestic when it can be combined with watching a loon swim in circles then you too will enjoy this place. The unspoiled woods around this cabin beg you not to forget your hiking boots and should inspire you to leave blow dryers and curling irons at home but I believe the power in this place would support them if you really do need them.

Meeting Dale & Pam was like being greeted by old friends excited to see you. This cabin was built with love for real people who enjoy being part of nature and prefer to cook their food themselves, not zap it in a microwave.

I had concerns based on the property description, I admit it but they were quickly set aside upon my arrival. It said "pond", we were going at the end of a long dry summer as fall started so I pictured "oversized mud puddle". The unspoiled beauty of Belden Pond was large enough to paddle around for a few hours to watch the sun set as we looked to see where beaver's had previously build a home (I'd swim on a hot day). The location of Palermo Maine seemed like an odd place to go on vacation, especially since we only lived an hour away on the coast of Maine! The cabin taught us it doesn't matter how far you travel to "get away" only that you find a place that touches your soul. Whether you are from California or Augusta Maine, go see for yourself. Let the cabin remind you what is really important in life with people you love. The hand crafted (comfortable) beds will sooth you to sleep and ensure you wake up feeling wrapped in a peaceful contentment.

IF you like high heels more than hiking boots or don't understand the concept of having nature touch your soul ... go to a spa, resort or where ever you can sit beside a concrete pool with a hundred other people. If what I have written is a concept you understand, rent, now.

One of our family's best vacations ever.

  • 5 of 5

The cabin on Belden Pond was an exceptional location, with beautiful surroundings and privacy.

The cabin itself is a work of art and we appreciated all the fine details the owners used in building this wonderful getaway.
