Overview

About the property

Our 200-year-old house is perched atop a hill with breathtaking views. Our 4-acre estate, which includes olive trees and an ancient oak, is within driving distance of Etruscan ruins, medieval towns, the thermal baths of Saturnia, the beaches of Capalbio and Mount Amiata. If you are craving seclusion and authenticity not to mention bike rides and hikes, this is the place for you. This is a hidden Tuscany without any of the tourist traps. A car is indispensable and a spirit of adventure.

About Flavia Krause-Jackson

I am an Italo-British journalist who has traveled the world covering international affairs. Married with two sons and feisty dachshund , I bought this place more than a decade ago with two close friends as a means to escape city life and to bask in the unspoiled beauty of the area.

Flavia Krause-Jackson purchased this villa in 2004

Why Flavia Krause-Jackson chose Roccalbegna

This place is very close to my heart. I bought it when I was young and through good times and bad we have kept it, even when our jobs and lives took us further away and going every weekend became impossible or impractical. This place was lovingly restored over the years yet it has quirks, which are part and parcel of its uniqueness and charm. We do not have internet or telephones, as this place was conceived as a means to break away from the trappings of modern life.

What makes this villa unique

I dare anyone, after making the perilous journey up the unmarked drive way, not to fall in love with the sweeping views. Pour yourself a drink and go sit under the great oak tree at sunset.

We are an hour's drive from a plethora of sight-seeing destinations and activities. From the Etruscan ruins near medieval hamlet Pitigliano to the the thermal baths of Saturnia. Also within reach are the beaches of Capalbio and the wild life of Mount Amiata. The winding country roads are a favourite for passionate bike riders. Plenty of wine tasting, hikes and mushroom picking. Boar hunting if that is your thing, too
