New 10 person Gondola for season 2016/17
The apartment: Our apartment is light and spacious, perfect for spending time with the family but with enough room to find a quiet retreat. It is airy in summer and cosy in winter with electric central heating and a wood burning stove inclusive. There are plenty of child-friendly activities provided and fully enclosed balconies ensure safety.
There is a car parking space in the large courtyard at the rear of the property and private bike storage is available.
The area: Rauris has two well-stocked supermarkets, two bakeries, one with a coffee shop, and various clothing and outdoor sports shops. Bank with ATM, a post office and tourist information office, (where you can buy teh Salzburgerland Karte which gives free access and discounts for many attractions). There is a visitors' centre for the National Park Hohe Tauern attached to the town hall. Coach tours of the surrounding valleys operate from the town centre. Rauris has many hotel bars and restaurants offering a wide variety of food and a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Travel: Salzburg airport, which is served by the low cost airlines, is just over one hour's drive away. The nearest train station with direct services to Salzburg and Innsbruck is just 10km from the apartment and can be reached with the local Postbus or taxis. Car hire is recommended but not essential as public transport is very efficient.
The medieval town of Rauris and the ski lift station are 4km from the apartment. The nearest large town is Zell am See which is 25km distance. Salzburg is approximately 85km and Munich airport 220km. The Thermic Baths and Wellness Centre of Bad Hofgastein is 23km and the Tauern Spa in Kaprun is 24km.
This partner has demonstrated and is committed to fast response times, the best rates, and a great guest experience.
We are an English family who live near Cambridge, UK. We purchased the apartment from the original Austrian owners who still live on the ground floor. We visit as often as we can.
Andrew and Lisa Thorne purchased this apartment in 2008
Very private with lots of space and not in a complex.Has good mountain views from the front and rear of the property.
Rauris is a small resort and the locals make everyone welcome.
Low cost family resort in the National Park which is good for skiing and great for walking, cycling and bird watching in the summer months. All without the crowds
Great facilities, clean and tidy flat for all the family and friends. Quiet location, easy to use home from home facilities in the flat. Easy access to Rauris, Zell am Zee, and Kaprun by car or bus.
Will definitely return!
A clean, well maintained, good size property with comfortable fittings and adequate facilities/ equipment to support six people (max).
The availability of a equipment maintenance room was the only feature lacking, however there are ample shops in the local area who can service any form of equipment.
A definite option for a return visit with family of friends!!
My thanks to the owners!!
Great apartment for the five of us to relax. Plenty of space for when the weather hindered our outdoor plans and the selection of books, films and games meant everyone was happy. I think the German phase book was used in earnest by our 12 year old over the first couple of days at which point the other two were being schooled!
Having a washing machine and dryer was great as we had spent a week in Germany previously and meant we could keep our luggage to a minimum.
The folder and leaflets on things to do was very useful and gave us lots of ideas (just need more time to finish the list!). The local restaurants were great with the children and they especially enjoyed Landgasthaus Weixen. Fortunately our waiter spoke fluent Pokemon so our 8 year old was over the moon.
The weather gave us everything from heatwaves to downpours and thunderstorms but I can't think of anywhere I rather be to watch a storm!
We had 11 days here, and it was one of the best holidays we can remember. The apartment was exactly as described but the views from the balconies on the two rear bedrooms and living room/kitchen were better, quite breathtaking to wake up to every morning. The apartment was very light, clean and well equipped, and it was great to be on the second floor, looking down on to the hills and gardens all around. The hamlet of Worth, where the apartment is situated, was lovely, with small shop and bar/hotel within sight. Walks in every direction, long or short, and Rauris just five minutes drive down the valley for bigger and better things - lots of inexpensive, quality restaurants, a few shops and traditional entertainment on one or two evenings while we were there. The Rauris bubble up the mountain took us to a fabulous high-level walk along the mountain ridge, and we walked from Rauris itself, up the steep sides of the mountains on the opposite side for some spectcular views. Everywhere was beautiful, clean, pristine, quiet and tranquil - a perfect spot that we will return to, I'm sure. Nationalpark Hohe Tauer was altogether outstanding, especially Taxenbach Gorge, and Bad Gastein, and we even managed to get to Grossglockner, which was well worth the drive up 30+ hairpin bends. Andrew gave us so much information to make our stay more enjoyable and was very helpful when we booked. We would highly recommend this apartment for a great family holiday.
We ( 3 adults and 2 children of 12 and 15 years old) love the apartment, it's very comfortable, spacey and clean. We were lucky to have a lot of snow so the view was spectaculair and we had a lot of fun in the snow. The apartment was very guiet wich was very nice for us. In Rauris, wich is a 10 minutes drive, you can get your groceries. When you drive another 10 minutes in opposite direction you get a lovely view in the valley where we had lots and lots of snow.
I would certainly recommended this appartment to everyone (please leave a date open so we can go back :) )
I hope we can stay another time to in this apartment !
The Rauris valley is a popular location for both winter and summer activities. In winter, Rauris has family-friendly skiing with well-respected ski schools. The skiing area (950-2200m) with 33km of slopes offers something for all standards with typically uncrowded slopes. (Free ski bus 20m from apartment).
In the summer there is walking for all abilities along marked routes with regular refreshments stops. Mountain biking is also well catered for with a good network of marked routes for all standards. Rauris has a heated outdoor swimming pool in an elevated position providing swimming 'with a view', indoor and outdoor tennis courts, squash, paragliding and various sauna and wellness facilities. Horse riding, rafting and gold panning are all available nearby. The presence of bearded vultures and golden eagles within the valley provide an added attraction to visitors and further information is available from the bird information centre located next to the apartment.
Other Activities: ski touring, snowshoe hiking, canoeing, rafting, squash, winter mountain climbing, sledging, winter hiking
Golf: Nearest Golf course is Zell am See
