Overview

About the property

A perfect retreat for those looking to get away from it all or nature lovers

Another great property from Eastern Shore Vacation Rentals!

A world away from it all - Hoopers' Island is actually comprised of three islands with authentic working watermen villages. The main island was allegedly bought from the Indians in exchange for blankets, what a deal huh? No bartering for anything needed once you arrive, Bay Water Cottage is wonderfully appointed and breathes with beautiful contemporary and organic architecture. We love the shade trees, the huge water views, the individual bedroom balconies, the deck and private dock – fab for fishing and crabbing. If you like to paddle – check it out – 3 kayaks and a canoe provided for guests. Look closely at the exterior photos and you will get a glimpse of your own island/sand bar on which to relax. Envision paddling a picnic lunch, cooler and blanket over to your sand bar and spending the day swimming and soaking in the sun. Paddle back should your refreshments dwindle. At day’s end store your boats and relax dockside drinking in the sunset views, grabbing a game of ping pong and grilling out. Exploring the Blackwater Refuge or the Harriet Tubman trail are at your doorstep but you may want to simply paddle the day away outside your backdoor.

About Eastern Shore Vacation Rentals

Property Manager since 2004. Locally owned and professionally managed vacation brings you value to your vacation investment.

Why Eastern Shore Vacation Rentals chose Church Creek

Eastern Shore Vacation Rentals treats your vacation as an important investment. We are professionals. Managing vacation rentals is all we do! We oversee every facet of the home and this property has complied with and/or exceeded our firm's most stringent amenity guidelines. Nevertheless, things go wrong and even the most diligent preventative care can't prevent the unexpected. Consider what will happen if something goes wrong during your stay? ESVR has an extensive and loyal vendor network and can address most problems swiftly. The house is not your vacation. You've selected the perfect property—now what? Do you just want to arrive to a key under the doormat, or have a guest services department that can help you plan your vacation. ESVR views your vacation as an important investment in happiness – we are here for our clients 24/7!

What makes this cottage unique

Whether this is your first time or the 5th, ESVR spends a great deal of time making sure that you not only rent from us, but enjoy all the things the area has to offer! We have an exclusive vendor network for everything from boat rentals delivered to your dock to paddle boards, charters and cruises at our disposal to help you make the most of your vacation. And because we are the largest vacation rental firm in the area, we can offer you discounts on everything from ice cream to golf! We offer value, not the lowest price. When comparing the cost of an ESVR home, be sure you are comparing apples to apples. ESVR includes everything from linens and bath towels, pet fees, cleaning and more so you are not nickeled and dimed after finding that 'great deal'.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Great location and accommodations. Parking is only steps from the front

door. Windows everywhere (with screens to enjoy the breeze) provided

constant viewing of the Bay and the weather. While the weather didn't

cooperate during our visit, the home enabled us to enjoy our visit

completely. The home is very nicely decorated with full kitchen

capabilities open to the other living areas. We spent a fair amount of

time around the dining table, socializing and playing games. Satallite

TV reception was great with a nice viewing arrangement. Each of 4

bedrooms is large and the beds are comfy. The drive to the end of

Hoopers Island Rd. provided a new perspective of Maryland fishing

culture. And Old Salty's restaurant only a few miles away had wonderful

Rockfish dinners we all enjoyed, with a pretty varied menu of other

eating options. Remember to bring binocculars for the trip to Blackwater

Wildlife Refuge. For a relaxed time on the Eastern Shore, this place

can't be beat.

Reviewer Comments:

the house was as advertised, very nice. Needs to let potential renters know that the one bedroom that is pictured with a door between them is as shown , you must go through one bedroom to access the other .( PRIVACY ISSUE ) WHEN ADULTS ONLY ..RENT THE HOUSE . Also the bedroom on the bottom floor is small .. during our stay hot water heater had issues . IT took 2 days with no hot water for baths or dishes Promised a refund . Took 3 days to replace the broken D.v.d. Player ,Crabbing was great. had a good time with the kayaks and crabbing baskets was very useful. All would have been good other than hot water issues that were unable to resolve quickly due to parts issue.1 suggestion to the home owner need a crab steamer we had to purchase one .

Manager responded on 8/26/2014:

So glad you enjoyed the home. Absolutely guests should check out the floor plan on the main website in order to understand the room layouts. It was our pleasure to purchase a dvd player, timing was out of synch when guest offered to purchase individually but then requested the next day to have a tech deliver a dvd player instead. Hot water heater is repaired - part needed has been installed. Love that you caught some crabs - perfect spot on the deck for eating them!

Reviewer Comments:

Overall we were happy with the vacation rental. The place was a nice quiet stay. It was definitely farther from town than I would prefer and the closest town, Cambridge, didn't seem very touristy and reminded me of our town back home. Nonetheless, we enjoyed kayaking and conoeing to the sandbar and had a good time. If this place were a five - ten minute drive from a touristy town with a lot of restaurants it would have been perfect, but it was still a nice vacation home.

Manager responded on 7/19/2014:

Thank you for the feedback. This property is a more "away from it all" spot to enjoy the outdoors and quiet. We have other properties that are closer to our quaint towns and would be happy to help you find something more suitable next time around!

Great weekend get-away! The house is spacious and slept 8 comfortably. Breath taking views. Dock and water were great with amazing sunsets and kayaking. Would definitely recommend. Only thing to know is it is not close to a town (ie no easy food delivery), off the beaten path! Very private, great house!

Manager responded on 5/21/2014:

Thank you for the great review - this is definitely a be where you are type of place. However please note we did recently discover a few amenities up that way - The campground has a small store if you need any items and don’t want to drive into Cambridge. There is also a small store in Woolford about 20 minutes north towards Cambridge. There is also a great produce place called Emily’s just outside of Cambridge on the way to Taylor’s Island. Also check out Palm Beach Willies at Taylors Island - /. Certainly not mainstream but hopefully with the local feel that many of our guests crave! Hope you can come back and try these spots out!

Reviewer Comments:

We had a wonderful time overall. There is one things I would say would be deal breakers if we ever decided to go to the area again. The dock has NO SWIM LADDER. This is not only inconvienent it is very dangerous. Thank goodness the neighbors Mike and Nancy were very kind in letting us use their ladder. I actually fell and took quite a hit on the head and shoulder trying to figure a way to get out on the "slippery ramp" The fact that they also had absoulutely no utensils to use with the grill was a little weird. Not sure anyone needs 100 sets of chop sticks, but one grilling utensil would have been useful. Tongs for example. Went back and forth on question 2 above between 3 and 4. Went with 3 because of the lack of ladder. Made you think hard every time you wanted to jump in to cool off for an minute or two.

The location and the kayaks were perfect for a week of fishing, crabbing and just hanging out.

One of the oldest towns in Maryland, this small town sits on the banks of the Choptank River. About an hour from the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, Dorchester County boasts famous residents such as Harriet Tubman, the most famous of Underground Railroad 'conductors' who led dozens of enslaved people to freedom, and Sharpshooter Annie Oakley. Also, more Maryland governors are from this area than any other with the exception of Baltimore City! Explore Cambridge and surrounding Dorchester County's long history as an agricultural and canning powerhouse, and their boatbuilding and maritime heritage—there are several self-guided walking tours, driving tours, river excursions and museums to help you experience the stories and history. Called the 'Heart of Chesapeake Country' because of it's location and shape, there are 1700 miles of shoreline surrounding 39 percent of Maryland's wetlands in the area, providing endless opportunities for kayaking, biking, and exploring.
