About the property

Sleeps 6/7 in 3 double rooms with en-suites, in Surrey village of Ewhurst

The barn is a country-lovers dream, where old oak timbers mix sympathetically with green oak to form a fantastic living space with a massive inglenook fireplace and where the galleried landing looks down on the comfy settees near a friendly wood burner and next to a spacious dining area and newly fitted oak kitchen.

There are three beautiful double bedrooms with full en-suite facilities. One with bath and two with shower. There is an additional folding guest bed or cot for children.

Step outside onto your barn patio where you are surrounded by open fields and views complemented by the newly restored farm buildings, including a picturesque stable block with clock tower.

A 3 minute stroll takes you into Ewhurst village where you will find pubs serving food, shops & village sports facilities. The old parish church adds to the feeling of history you sense when visiting. Ewhurst also has a cricket club and Hurtwood Country Polo Club. Guildford, Cranleigh & pictureque Shere are nearby.

Barn in Ewhurst

  • 5 of 5

What an amazing place! So much love has been put into every detail of the decor, every bit as good as or better than a 5 star hotel.

Stunning location with plenty of walks in the beautiful surrounding area. Situated so close to London this is an excellent alternative to staying in the city.

The owners extended such hospitality making every effort to make us feel welcome and at home. This really was a home away from home. We certainly intend to return. Highly recommended!

Owner's Response: Amanda and Mark really enjoyed the stunning country setting around the barn. They found it easy getting to London and Guildford. They were perfect tenants and together with their parents, took maximum advantage of the pubs and restaurants that we were able to recommend. The Surrey Hills are full of beautiful walks and local places to visit, including Dorking where you can lose yourself in the antique shops, or step into Denbies Winery where you will find that English wines can be well worth the time to taste. Mark and amanda took full advantage of the huge lounge and our newly fitted kitchen, and with the enourmous bi-fold doors they were able to extend the kitchen lounge onto the patio. In short, they were great to have in the property, and we look forward to welcoming them back.

A barn for country-lovers

  • 5 of 5

My wife, my mother in law and our two teenage boys very enjoyed a peacefull and relaxing time at this wonderfull place. The barn is well equipped and maintained with everything you need. The owner is a very helpfull and friendly person, was always ready to help if we needed something or a recommendation for a journey or going out for diner . The kitchen is just superb and the fireplace is amazing. You can see at every detail, that the owner wants you to feel comfortable and really at home. Many thanks to you Ian and if we`ll have the opportunity we would love to come again.

Owner's Response: Thankyou Marco and Astrid stayed in our restored period barn for 10 nights just after Christmas. They took full advantage of the easy access to London that Thornhurst Brook Farm offers. They also explored the Surrey Hills which are an are of outstanding natural beauty. There are lots of walks available, and one of their walks took them to Leith Hill Tower, which is the highest spot in Surrey, following their visit to Leith Hill with a meal in one of our cosy pubs. Thankyou Marco and family for your kind review. We will be pleased to welcome you whenever you can make it back.

Lovely feel to the barn. Perfect location for us. Owner nearby and very helpful but only when needed. We felt we were in our own place and were sorry to leave.

With this being the first time using VRBO I didn't know what to expect. My first impressions when arriving were WOW. The property was amazing the "barn" was gorgeous the location was perfect especially with my kids and the park, shop and pub only a walk away. The barn felt like a home away from home was stocked perfectly and Ian was so helpful and very very nice. I would come back here in a heartbeat! If he would allow me and my three miserable children that wouldn't sleep!!! No complaints here only compliments hope to see you again soon!

Owner's Response: Thankyou Kate for your kind review. Kate and family travelled from Canada, and were great guests to have. They really took advantage of the beautiful location, using the outside space for the children to play. They loved the restored barn and took full advantage of the local pub which is perfect for children. The barn offers generous reception space comprising of open plan kitchen/dining/ lounge area as well as oak bi-folding doors that open onto a huge outdoor patio and meadow. It was great to see everybody enjoy themselves, and we hope Kate and family will be back again. Thanks Kate & co, Best Wishes, Ian

Beautiful, high-spec barn conversion

  • 5 of 5

As a group of 7 friends we stayed in the barn conversion for a bank holiday weekend. In advance and on arrival, Ian was very hospitable and helpful. He offered to help receive an online grocery delivery when I thought I would be late, and gave me a detailed tour of the barn on arrival. The barn itself has been immaculately restored, to high spec throughout. It is very thoughtfully and generously equipped, including with cooking ingredients and a cupboard of kids' books/games. Ian also leant us his BBQ to enjoy the garden (including blackberry picking!). The large outdoor area feels very secluded despite the property's close proximity to Ewhurst village. It felt like a great rural retreat. Thoroughly recommended.

Owner's Response: Dear Fleur, Many thanks for your review on your stay in our refurbished period barn. Fleur came to stay with six friends, and they really took advantage of the huge lawn and meadow available to the barn. They used the badminton net for tennis, badminton and I think I saw them playing volleyball as well. They loved the property which has lots of space in the open plan kitchen/lounge/dining area, and again they made good use of the facilities including the cosy log burner in the inglenook fireplace. They also went for walks on the farm and it was clear they were having great fun. Great group of people. We hope we will see you back again. Best Wishes, Ian
