Top Traveller Review

About the Owner

I am a florentine in love with Florence! But I also love to travel and always look for places that can make me feel home away from home. So I prepared these properties asking myself what I, as a traveller, would have loved to find in a rental property and try to do my best to accomplish this goal. That's why you'll find tea and coffee available on your arrival or the home fragances to welcome you at the property.

Review of Via Vinegia 2

This apartment provided a great base from which to explore Florence. Tucked away in a quiet street between the Piazza Signoria and Santa Croce, the location is excellent, within walking distance of just about everywhere. The apartment itself is as nice as the photos with large bedrooms, lovely bathrooms, fully fitted kitchen, all immaculate and finished to the highest standard. Simona was very welcoming, explaining how everything worked, and leaving a huge bowl of fresh fruit and the essentials for cooking – olive oil, tea and coffee and lots of condiments. She was also available at any time for questions or advice. There are several shops to buy food and wine nearby, and lots of good restaurants. We especially enjoyed Trattoria Anita on the next corner and Pennello near Dante’s house. Staying in this apartment was so much more enjoyable than a hotel and much more reasonable. I feel I’ve found my ‘home away from home’ and will definitely be going back.

Great location very comfortable apartment

  • 3 of 5

Text not responded to so was unsure if our arrival time was received but Simone did meet us on time However this added to stress. Good orientation to apartment by Simona-all was as promised. Checkout was perfect.

At 700 am every morning high heel clicking on the ceiling woke all of us up. Apparently a bed and breakfast occurs daily. Apartment ceiling needs sound proofing and in the meantime quieter shoes. Living room dark and more lights would remedy this.

Had to put suitcases under bed as there was no area to open them up.

Most of our recommended changes are easy fixes. We enjoyed our stay in this wonderful location.

Thank you Simona

Owner's Response: Jo Ann I am relieved you "enjoyed your staying at this wonderful location" otherwise you would have rated it 1 star instead of 3!! What a disaster.. dark living room (two windows and 3 lamps), suitcases on the floor.. No mentioned about decors, cleaning, bed comfort, appliances, bathrooms.. so I presume those aspect were fine.. Check-in: We want to reassure our guests that once time of arrival and travel schedule are provided, they have to be 200% sure that their check-in has been properly arranged and they will find one of us waiting for them at the apartments. No stress is necessary at all! You provided your time of arrival together with your train info, so I knew exactly what time I had to be there and confirmed to you.. I really don't understand your stress It is our job to welcome our guests and proud to say we are really well organized after 8 years of renting and hundreds of check-in . We are also proud to say that our apartments belongs to a XV century buildings. The ceilings are the original ones, it's easy to calculate how antique they are. Soundproof didn't exist back then and I am afraid it won't for the future. We won't cover those beautiful original antique wooden ceiling for any reason. Luckily there is a B&B above us, their guests more or less have the same daily schedule of our guests, so usually they don't disturb each other.. of course there are exceptions, it seems it was yours. If you told me I could try to fix it!! Earplugs are always the best options when traveling! Thanks anyway, we are fixing whatever is fixable and luggages chairs are already on their way..

Good location, well equipped and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

This 1st floor, 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment is well located for all the main sights. It is down a side street, which means it is quieter than the main thoroughfares. That said, Florence is essentially quite noisy, so is not the place for a quiet break, as in most cities. The double glazing helps a lot though. The apartment is well equipped, especially the kitchen, so home cooking is easily achieved. There is a small supermarket and several food shops nearby. The owner is very friendly and helpful.

Great place and unbelievably great location!

  • 5 of 5

We came out of the Uffizi and realized we were one block from the apartment. This place was spotless. Great AC. The bathrooms and the whole place was newly remodeled. Everything was clean. We highly recommend this place! Try the tortellini at Tratoria Anita. THE best dinner we've had so far in Italy. It's on the same street and same block. Gelato at Gelateria de Niri is one block away.

"Perfecto!"

  • 5 of 5

My cousin, sister and I were met by Simona who graciously showed us around her lovely home. I found the home to be just as described and more. It is a combination of old world elegance and modern conveniences: windows that keep out the noise of the city, a washer, dishwasher, air conditioning units that don't need to be used all of the time because of the old construction, and an adorable kitchen just perfect for those nights when you want to eat in.

The beds and linens were extremely comfortable and two modern and good sized bathrooms were perfect for 3 women!

The internet worked extremely well and it was a delight to be able to FaceTime with our family at home.

Via Vinegia is a quiet street just minutes from shopping and the bustling, historic areas of Florence.

My next visit to this beautiful city will definitely include a stay in this wonderful home.

Grazie, Simona and Francesca!

Great location and comfortable

  • 4 of 5

My daughter and I spent 6 comfortable nights in the “Francesca” apartment during the first week of September. We were very happy to each have our own bedroom and modern bathroom, a nicely stocked kitchen (including coffee and palmiers, my favorite cookies) and a generally impeccable and nicely decorated apartment. Simona was there when we arrived and greeted us warmly despite the fact that she was in “crisis mode” (as the air conditioner in the second bedroom was not working). Simona went to some lengths to try to get the A.C. fixed the same day but that didn’t work out in the end. In any event, my daughter stayed in the room without air conditioning and said she was quite comfortable with the extra fan that Simona was able to supply. Also, the windows in the apartment really do limit the loud sounds from the streets outside so we found it easy to get a good night’s sleep. I should also mention that Simona was easily reachable and quickly responded to any questions we had before and during our visit. We loved the location of the apartment and would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for a nice place to stay in Florence!

Location

From the Owner

From the very first moment we, my mom and me, visited the apartment (the actual Simona unit) we realized it was special.. Even if it had to be entirely restored (believe me, it was terrible!!) we felt it was very special.. The terrace and the view on these 800 years old stone walls of San Remigio chuch, the tower of Palazzao Vecchio so beautiful at any time of the day.. the calm and tranquility while just a stone away from everything, a few steps and you get to the crowded and lively Via de neri.. The apartment really needed to be updated but the display was gorgeous.. All moved, perfectly designed to have a sleeping area and a daily area, the ancient ceiling in the sitting room.. A house of carachter..We fell in love at a the very first sight!!! The same happend when we were able to purchase the property beside (the actual Francesca unit) which has its own carachter too.. Again we entirely restored it but what a result!

The property is located in a quiet small road, Via Vinegia 2, between Piazza della Signoria and Piazza Santa Croce, in front of the medieval walls of St. Remigio church. Every famous artistic site can be reached in a few minutes: piazza Duomo, the Uffizi Gallery, Pontevecchio, Palazzo Pitti. The area around the property is full of shops, restaurants, pubs, bars, internet point and wireless cafè and any services needed (supermarket, laundry, pharmacy etc..) This area is known as ZTL (limited traffic area) and from June 2013 it will be pedestrian.

No cars are allowed to reach the property in no case (apart from taxis) so in case you plan to arrive with your car in Florence, there are special instructions. We'll be glad to provide them
