Pispolo is a self catering apartment with air conditioned, on the ground floor: large living-room, dining area and kitchen (dishwasher, microwave, freezer, electric oven, top stove with 4 fires, kettle, percolator), large double bedroom with a cosy sitting corner to relax, bathroom with shower. Ideal for the elderly or a couple, also with very young children as there are no steps inside nor to go to the garden.
Pispolo's entrance door is the only one on that side of the building. This means that a nice portion of the garden is just for you, even if there are no fences between you and the other guests.
Summer is a great time to relax and enjoy the company of a good book! You can relax and enjoy reading while sipping a glass of good Chianti wine sitting in the garden. Not to mention alfresco dining!
There is a large communal 'barbecue house' in the park, not far from the pool for home cooked delicious Fiorentina steaks (ask us about the best butcher in town).
*SHORT STAYS ARE WELCOME*

So, in the morning you can have a massage by the pool, take a walk to the little country shops or go to the supermarkets in Fucecchio (5 kms) with your car, then visit one or more tourist attraction in Tuscany, come back to enjoy a swim our fantastic pool (12x6), relax in the large equipped garden sipping an aperitivo while the tomato sauce boils in the kitchen, then have a relaxing dinner in the garden alfresco with your loved ones and a night cap when the children are in bed. The 6 apartments (all equipped with AC) in the former school building have 1, 2 or 4 bedrooms while Villa Maura (equipped with AC) offers some more comforts and sleeps up to 6. Parking inside the property. Nice restaurant at walking distance. Free Wi-Fi. Enquire or call Tiziana directly for information!

We are always on hand if you need us but we will leave you to your well deserved holiday!
We sometimes see that families arrive here with their car full of groceries and food (after maybe a long journey under the hot Italian summer sun). Please note that most of the food you buy at home is available also here. The nearest supermarket is Tuodì, open from 8,30AM to 8PM every day except Sunday (from 8,30AM to 1PM). Coop supermarket is open from 8AM to 9PM every day except Sunday (from 8,30AM to 1,30PM). Another supermarket, Conad, is open from 8AM to 8PM and also every Sunday morning from 9AM to 12.30AM. And another smaller grocery shop, Gelsastore, is open 6 days a week from 5 in the morning to 1 at night (fresh bread on Sundays, too)!
At 1,1 kms there is Il RitroVino di Caino, that sells good quality local food, cheese, extra virgin olive oil and wine. You can stop for a cappuccino and pastries in the morning and have breakfast there or buy fresh bread also on Sundays!
* Market *
A medley of colors and scents awaits you every Wednesday morning in Fucecchio in Piazza XX Settembre.
One of the reasons to rent a holiday accommodation is that you can cook your own food and avoid eating out. You can shop at farmers' markets, try local recipes, keep your children entertained while cooking... But sometimes you just want to relax and unwind with a nice glass of wine and let others cook! Among other local area information, we will give you a list of nearby restaurants (one of them is at walking distance!) we usually go to! And we will be happy to call and reserve a table for you, if you like!
*Palio di Fucecchio (horse race)*
Every year since 1981, there is this horse race in Fucecchio. The town is divided into contrade (just like Siena!). You will spend your holidays at La Scuola di Furio Holiday Home, so in contrada Torre, whose colours are white and blue. It is a brilliant experience. Before THE day, there are lots of dining occasions in each contrada, sometimes al fresco, in order to spend nice time together, get to know each other and have a home style meal with some good wine. The date of the event is usually the third Sunday of May. In the morning you can attend the historical parade with its lively display of 1200 (!) persons in rich locally made costumes along the streets of Fucecchio. The 3 afternoon races take place at la Buca del Palio (Via Fratelli Rosselli in Fucecchio). Palio might last until sunset! The races only last a minute or two, so you have to spend some time in Fucecchio beforehand, soaking up the atmosphere and the rivalry between the different districts, each of which is represented in the first two races. For a fucecchiese, Palio is like Football World Cup for Italians!
*Infiorata di Corpus Domini (flower carpets)*:
On the Sunday of Corpus Domini the streets of historic Fucecchio are covered by beautiful floral carpets. In Fucecchio the custom of sprinkling the streets with flowers and forest sprigs compose sacred figures, dates back to the 30es but it was only in 1990 that the Flower Festival has become a tradition.
The carpet of flowers are displayed in the old city centre, starting from and coming back to the Collegiate Church. The materials used are many varieties of seasonal flowers (poppies, brooms, carnations, roses ...) and many other type of natural material (grapes, coffee, wood chips ...).
*Padule di Fucecchio, a bird watchers' paradise*
The Padule di Fucecchio is the largest non-coastal marshland area in Italy (around 1,800 hectares!).
The Padule is one of the last refuges for many plant species (the yellow floating heart or water fringe, now very rare in Tuscany, or white and yellow pondlilies, etc.), and is a big attraction for birdwatching enthusiasts, especially during the spring migration. Of particular interest are the herons, which nest in colonies, and migratory birds like the stilt bird, crane and black stork. Depending on water levels, it is also possible to attend a "barchino" ride! There are 9 nature trails in the marshes, most on foot, some by car.

I was born in Fucecchio and I have been living here all of my life. Even if I have been working in the fashion industry for more than 20 years now, I am more and more interested in the holiday rental world. I also attended a course to become a professional manager in hospitality and tourism management; it was fun to come back to school. I post something new everyday on our Facebook page, just type La Scuola di Furio into the Facebook Search field. This search field can be found at the top of the website, or at the top of the Facebook app.
Ms. Tiziana Fierli purchased this apartment in 1998
My father (Furio, hence "La Scuola di Furio") bought this property in the late '90. It was in such a state! No heating, no electricity, no running water! He started to restore it (with Italian burocracy, this process can take a lot of time and even more patience!), then came with this idea: 'Why don't we rent to tourists?'. At that time (pre-internet era for me) I thought it was a terrible idea. 'Tourists in Fucecchio? This is not going to happen!'. How wrong I was!
It is easy to fall in love with this location! Splendid views over a tranquil valley, fantastic pool. Real possibility of reaching from nearby Empoli train station: Florence in 24 minutes, Pisa in 28 minutes and Siena in 45 minutes (stress free solution), or Lucca in under 30 minutes by car.
Check on our own website how to go to Florence on a tramway!
The Tourist Tax is not included (1,00 euro per person/per night, maximum of 6 nights, children under 14 free). The Tourist Tax is levied on behalf of the municipality of Fucecchio separately.
We at La Scuola di Furio Holiday Home advise all our guests to purchase travel insurance to indemnify them against any costs that they may incur as a result of unavoidable changes in their travel plans.
I highly recommend this location, this property and working with Tiziana. You wont regret your stay here. Our family of 5 including children ages 15, 10 and 3or stayed here last summer and had a very memorable stay. Great food, great recommendations and help from Tiziana, great pool and perfect scenery. Must have a car but puts you very central to many traveling locations and gives you a very peaceful place to rest and relax. Many, many thanks Tiziana!
Our recent stay at La Scuola di Furio was perfect in every way. The house, situated near town of Fuccechio in Northern Tuscany, is divided into a number of beautifully appointed apartments. Our one was spotlessly clean with comfortable furnishings and everything we needed for our 5 night stay. Having spent the previous week in cities it was wonderful to be able to relax at the pool or in the lovely garden which afforded great views over the magnificent surrounding area. It's location means that La Scuola is a perfect base for visiting Florence, Lucca, Pisa and Vinci but you don't have to go anywhere to have a good time.
The kindness of our hostess Tiziana and the welcome we received was perhaps the most outstanding part of our stay. Tiziana went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. She brought us to the local contrada for dinner and a chance to watch Ireland play Italy in the Euro's and was very gracious in defeat!!
We stayed in 5 different apartments during our holiday but all of us agreed that Fuccechio was our favourite.
Wonderful place to stay in Tuscany !
Gorgeous area. Beautiful apartment. Gracious and friendly hosts.
A MUST SEE ! MUST EXPERIENCE!
Exactly what you think Tuscany should look like. We will go again & hopefully take friends with us .
A magical & very relaxing vacation!
Thanks to Tiziana for her kindness & very warm hospitality! She made us feel like family!
Tiziana was just so so lovely and could not have been any more helpful in making our holiday in the beautiful Tuscany any more enjoyable. The apartment was just lovely and a very comfy bed which was just a dream so after a great day exploring we had a very relaxing sleep, so rare in holiday apartments. Nothing was a bother for Tiziana and the information she gave us was invaluable. Thank you so much, Gill, Ali and Sophie
I booked this property for a 10 days to celebrate my fiancée's 40th birthday.
On arrival we were met by Tizzania and Walter. They gave us big smiles, quickly completed the paperwork, provided tons of maps and tips and gave us easy directions to a local supermarket.
The property is in the beautiful Tuscan countryside but close to many different sights. Lucca is at a very short distance (we went there twice) and also visited Florence, Pisa and Siena.
On my request, the owner provided a bouquet of flowers and chocolate for my fiancée's birthday, a really nice touch. She also helped me arranging a massage session with a nice masseuse, how thoughtful of her! No request was too much trouble for them!
The apartment was very clean and well equipped with sufficient crockery. The garden is very well-kept and the pool is very clean and its area is nice.
We went to a couple of restaurants in the area they suggested and the advice provided was helpful (Osteria No. 1 is very good!). We hope we can come back once we are married!
We love this place. We first visited in 2008 with our baby son and returned in June 2011 with our son now four and our baby daughter. The apartments are immaculately clean, well equipped and comfortable, The grounds are beautiful and well maintained, The facilities are great - there really is everything you need, including a washing machine. The pool area is the best we have experienced in 10 years of independent holidaying in Italy. It is clean, well kept and set slightly away from the house making it safer when young children are wandering around on the lawns. Tiziana and Walter could not be more helpful and they provide helpful information about the surrounding area. I would recommend La Scuola to anyone.
