Overview

About the property

7 Bedroom house with large garden in secluded country setting near Banyoles

The 7 bedroom house with 5 bathrooms sits in its own land of about one acre with a large private swimming pool, and is surrounded by cultivated farmland, pine and oak woodland, and meadows, with wonderful views. It is totally private. There is immediate access from the house to marked walking, running and cycling routes. Horse riding, kayaking, golf and lake swimming are also available nearby.

The house is fully equipped as our private home abroad; not just another rental house. It can accommodate up to 19 people though is best suited to 10 people or 2/3 sharing families with a high degree of privacy due to its layout of the old house and a new wing. It has two kitchens and sitting rooms, covered terrace with BBQ, TV, DVD player and broadband internet access.

The local village has two bar/restaurants which serve fresh, local food at very reasonable prices, and a small shop. The nearest old market town Banyoles is just 10 kms away and Girona 40 kms.

Banyoles is the local town with a twice weekly market around the main square for fresh local produce. Banyoles lake hosted the rowing events of the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and this remains a major centre for sporting and recreational activities today. The lake offers kayaking and lake swimming. It's also a lovely place just to walk around with a backdrop of the Pyrenees in the distance. If the coast attracts you the best of the northern Costa Brava is just 45 minutes away with L'Escala, Begur, Pals, Tamariu and Llafranch some of the best places to visit.

Can Soler is situated in the district of L'Estany, but is very near to the districts of La Garrotxa, Pirineus and Girones. Cycling is very big in the area, and one known and well marked route passes by the house. There are many footpaths that pass the house too. The weather is generally superb in this region, with clear blue skies and brilliant sunshine, but without the extreme heat of the more central and southern areas.

Other Activities: rowing, canoeing, kayaking

Notes:
There is a covered terrace adjacent to the house with a built in BBQ. This is a popular spot for summer time eating al fresco. There are two kitchens. The main large one in the new wing with a large gas fired cooker, and dishwasher, and a smaller one off the terrace with a standard size electric cooker and ceramic hob, and its own dishwasher. Handy for clearing up after dining on the terrace. There are two large dining tables with seating for 20 in total. Normally one is on the terrace and one in the dining room, but for large groups an extension table from the kitchen can be added, or the two main tables can be placed together in the dining room or main hallway. There are two sitting rooms with sofa or armchair seating for 7 in each. One has a fireplace and the other a wood burning stove. There is one TV, for national digital TV and a DVD player. The swimming pool is 10m by 4m and has an adjacent shower. It is unheated and good for swimming between May and September.

Great stay during summer!!

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed very much our stay for 3 nights in this property, specially the swimming pool for the kids, as the weather was great!

Very quiet and relaxing place, and the views are very nice from there!

We really recommend it to the travellers, and we hope to come back another time.

To recommend !

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at Can Soler. The house is pleasant and very comfortable, the location is ideal for people looking for quiet, beautiful scenery and walks.

We enjoyed the pool especially because of the (unusual ) heat that prevailed at the time we were staying there (34 to 38°C) .

The only thing we regret is to have hardly been able to connect to the Internet due to network problems. This was solved to a certain extent by going to the place near the school .

We would particularly like to thank the owner, Mr Ian Mitchell, and Mrs. Alex, for their kindness and availability.

Can Soler is a rental to recommend!

Great place if you are on two wheels

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Can Soler in September and the weather was glorious. There were 12 of us mostly having travelled down through France on motorbikes. We had come to Catalunya to enjoy the fabulous roads and scenery of this less sought after corner of Spain and were'nt disappointed. The use of the covered outside bar b q was especially useful as we had a deluge on the second night but were able to stay outside snug in the covered area. The house is fantastic with lots of rooms and space to hide away if you feel like nestling down with a good book away from the others. The kitchen is well stocked with every manner of utensils and plenty of space for everyone to get involved or not!

If you are a two family arrangement the house has split access to two wings so although you share the communal area there is a level of privacy if you wish. Showers are plentiful as is hot water on demand. We spent a lot of time by the pool which is just the right size for a party of 12. There is an outside shower and plenty of sun loungers. Towels too are provided.

The local supermarkets in Banyoles are good value for money and we were surprised at how little we spent and yet didn't stint ourselves.

The house is situated in a remote valley off the main road. It is sufficiently isolated that you don't intrude on anyone else's privacy. We were particularly taken with the views of the night sky. Hardly any ambient light meant an opportunity to pick out the constellations - something rarely achieved at home.

A holiday at Can Soler is heartily recommended. Great value for money. We hope to visit again.
