About the property

3 Bedroom, 2 bathroom house sleeps 6, beautifully furnished with sunny courtyard

This sympathetically renovated traditional village house in 'Le Roulant' quarter of Le Bois near St. Martin has everything you will need for a tranquil holiday in idyllic surroundings. On the first floor the three bedrooms are designed to reflect a different theme, furnished with finds from local 'brocantes'. Decorated with images of the island by the photographer owner, the house has stylish furniture with modern well equipped kitchen and bathrooms, making it the perfect base to explore the unspoilt villages and fabulous restaurants the island has to offer. GUESTBOOK - some comments from our guests over the years:

'Just a short email to say how much we enjoyed our stay at Les Voiles. Everything was immaculate and beautifully presented. We had a lovely time on the island, spoilt for choice for places to go and we hope to make a return visit at some time.

Chris and Christine, May 2014'

'Just wanted to say that we had a great time at Les Voiles! It's such a lovely, comfortable house and worked really well for us. It also helped that we pretty much had two weeks of hot, sunny weather! Thanks again for all your help.

Lisa and Family, August 2013'

§

'We had a wonderful week in your lovely house. We enjoyed our stay enormously. Your house was a perfect base. We cycled all over the island, and swam in the sea most days. We enjoyed shopping in the market for one meal at the house each day, and dining out for the other, very simple for a relaxing break. Thank you very much once again, we loved your house, and will bear it in mind when we plan next year's summer holiday.

Sue, Michael, Grace and James, July 2013'

'We all had a fantastic time at Les Voiles, we found it so beautiful, very clean, comfortable and ideal for all the family. We felt immediately at ease at the house and it couldn't have been a more perfect place from which to explore the island. We enjoyed the daily walks down the pretty streets into Le Bois for coffees and croissants and Harry loved the little fairground rides near the market. We managed to see quite a lot of the island too & hired bikes on one of the days which was really lovely. In fact, whilst we managed a trip to La Rochelle we were all keen to get back to the tranquility of the il de re!! We would all love to go back if possible and we will be in touch if we manage to arrange a return trip in the future.

Stef and Family, June 2013'

'The island is lovely and we spent most days cycling around visiting. The house is also lovely and we had a very pleasant stay. I think it is one of the nicest houses I have rented and I love your decoration and the beautiful pictures.

Thanks - Jo, Jerome and Family, October 2012'

'Just writing to say that we had a wonderful stay at les Voiles. It was very relaxing and the house was just great! All your restaurant recommendations were also first class. The Ile de Re is a long way for us to come, but it was definitely worth it! We particularly liked the fact that it was so low key but wanting for nothing!'

'Just a quick email to say thank you for all your help and for the use of your beautiful house. It has been a real home from home and I have to say that you have thought of every detail. We really can't think of what else we would add/change. Comfortable beds, impressive decoration, and all the facilities we needed for a family of 5 with three young children for a week. We came by train and travelled light which meant we used the washing machine, borrowed your bucket and spades, beach towels etc and my children read your books! The house is well located for all the main towns by bike giving us lots of choice about what to do and where to go every day.

'Just wanted to drop you a line to let you know we had an absolutely brilliant holiday at Les Voiles! We have all fallen head over heels in love with the Il de Re, and your beautiful home was perfect in every way, beautifully decorated and in the perfect location to explore the island. We covered as much as we could from La Flotte to Ars en Re, trying the local mussels and oysters all along the way, every village and shop we visited was a joy.

Thank you for all the thought that you put into preparing for the holiday, communication was so concise and we really did not have one minute of stress. We will definitely be returning (with an empty suitcase for the shopping!!!)

a great property and ideally situated

  • 5 of 5

We much appreciated Les Voiles, furbished to our taste, which immediately made us feel; at home. We enjoyed the location allowing us to cycle the length and breadth of the island ,exploring beaches, points of interest and restaurants/cafes. Extremely helpful owners whose information allowed us to get the best out of our stay and we will certainly return at some time in the future.

Beautiful cottage in a relaxing location

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay - the cottage is lovely and very well thought out. We cycled our hearts out - through vineyards, past oyster beds and to the beautiful beach. Ile de Re is such a relaxing place to be - our teens enjoyed the beach, cycling, hanging out at the creperies - and sometimes we were allowed to join them too!

(Just remember to time the bridge crossing carefully - we were stuck for a few hours!)

Beautiful house in a lovely village

  • 5 of 5

We would just like to let you know how much we both enjoyed our holiday staying in your beautiful house on the Ile de Re. The house is every bit as wonderful as it looks on line and so comfortable and well equipped.

Position wise it couldn't be better as we absolutely loved the little village of Le Bois and we so enjoyed walking into the village centre each morning to wander round the very lively market. This was usually followed by an afternoon bike ride either to the beach or to explore the ports of Saint Martin and La Flotte.

All in all it was a truly relaxing holiday in a lovely house in the most perfect little village.

We shall have to come again!

Gorgeous house in a great location

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic time at Les Voiles as the weather was perfect and your house is in such a great location. We were able to cycle to the beach everyday and then over to Saint Martin for an ice cream in the evenings, or down to D’ici et d’ailleurs for a pizza near the beach. We haven’t made plans for next year yet but if we return to the Island it would be to Les Voiles.

Flawless

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly loved this property. It has been renovated and decorated with taste. It is cosy, comfortable, very well equipped and conveniently located within easy access of... everything worthwhile on the island. The quality and high standards of this "maison de village" highly contributed to the success of our stay on Ré. So did the kindness and availability of its owners.

Les Voiles Spring Holiday

We had a lovely time on the Ile de Re. Your house is charming and, as I said, beautifully styled. And, even more, it is so well equipped. Both the couples who stayed with us said how much they liked the house. It was a very relaxing time for us.

We also loved Le Bois. Such a great little town and with such a great market. It was just far enough for an early (ish) morning walk or cycle ride to collect croissants and bread. A good bit of exercise for me! We took both couples to l’Ocean and both really enjoyed the food there. A good place and lovely staff.

We may well want to return.

LE BOIS ON ILE DE RE - A SPECIAL PLACE TO STAY

Le Bois is a small, pretty town with typical Ile de Ré charm: traditional village houses, narrow winding lanes lined with flowers, fine restaurants and family cafés. At its heart is the town square with quaint shops and the island's best indoor and outdoor market which is open all year round. Sunbathe on the safe, sandy beaches or enjoy local windsurfing, sailing, horse riding or cycling. The town itself is just 5 minutes by car from St. Martin, the island's bustling capital, filled with chic boutiques, lively bars and quayside restaurants. The waters around the Ile de Ré are loved by all watersports enthusiasts – windsurfing, sailing and safe bathing are to be found on the sandy southern coastline. In the north, the Fier d’Ars-en-Ré is a patchwork of mudflats and salt marshes, where a variety of waterfowl and birds of prey is to be found. The flat-bottomed boats, the salt-gatherer huts, the oyster beds and the wild moorland give the Ile de Ré a romantic beauty all of its own.
