About Rose Robson

I found this little piece of paradise about 5 years ago as a retirement house. Now, after a complete renovation into separate apartments I am delighted to be able to share its charms with others.

Rose Robson purchased this apartment in 2005

Why Rose Robson chose Lourmarin

I bought the Ancienne Maison because of its charm and location, central but in a quiet location in the village.

What makes this apartment unique

The Ancienne Maison des Gardes has a 500 year old history reflected in the well worn steps trodden through centuries by the local guards. The charming internal courtyard is protected from the Mistral wind and offers a peaceful relaxing space to enjoy barbecues, al fresco dining etc...

... and loving its cosy charm. We stayed there for a week after Easter and did enjoy it very much. Although Lourmarin was not as busy as it could have been, this place is a haven of calm and peace. Thanks also to the owners for their helpfulness and for letting others share their little hidden gem.

Comfortable and convenient- a great stay!

  • 5 of 5

We had booked the courtyard studio but Rose and Robin upgraded us to the larger apartment and it was great. Only thing that this one seemed to not have was a good view, but it was November so cold and we were inside and not looking to sit out and enjoy a good view. We were there second week in November and things were very quiet. Some villages were almost all shut down for the season but we found enough activity in Lourmarin to have wonderful dinners, enjoy the local market, and take advantage of the delicious boulangerie for morning croissants. Robin was very helpful in suggesting places to eat and just giving information about the area.

We also loved that Lourmarin was such a good central location to go out and see the different villages for day trips.

We didn't spend much time in the apartment, but slept well, had good heat, and the basics we needed- french press, coffee, refrigerator, etc. and parking was very convenient.

We really enjoyed staying here and would gladly come back!

Exceeded our expectations

  • 5 of 5

The appartment was as lovely as it is in pictures. The place is also centrally located, yet very quiet.

Lourmarin is a perfect base for exploring both Luberon and Aix-en-Provence.

Rose and Robin, the owners, saved us from a great trouble we had with car rental. Because of a credit card issue, we were not able to get the car we had originally reserved. Rose and Robin helped us to find an alternative and we finally got a car.

A Little Slice of Heaven in Provence

  • 5 of 5

Our apartment was lovely, roomy and well-appointed. The antique furnishings were a bonus. The owners, Rose and Robin were friendly and helpful. We were allowed to bring our dog, so that was the topping on the cake. Unfortunately the weather was cold and rainy, but the apartment was warm and cozy. We highly recommend it.

A perfect 9 day stay

  • 5 of 5

Our stay with Rose & Robin in the Studio was well beyond our expectations. The studio was perfect for 2 adults & extremely clean. The pretty courtyard was ideal for breakfasts & when too hot the covered area provided welcome relief from the heat. Rose & Robin were often on hand for useful advice on where to go such as the numerous local villages & their fabulous markets. For more adventurous days, Arles & Marseilles are within easy reach but dont miss the lovely seaside village of Cassis. The village of Lourmarin has everything you need to make a special holiday. Thank you Rose & Robin for a memorable stay hope to return in the future.

Charming courtyard apartment

  • 5 of 5

Two friends and I spent a week there in April. Two of us stayed in the one bedroom apartment and another friend stayed in the bedroom just above. We had a wonderful time. The apartment is located at the end of a tiny street and is very quiet. The bathroom is on the small side but clean and adequate. The kitchen is very well equipped and we really enjoyed being able to have meals in the little courtyard.

The village of Lourmarin is exquisite and everywhere is walking distance. It's big enough to have everything you need (restaurants, shops, bakeries, grocery shop, weekly market etc etc) and yet not big enough to be crowded. Just perfect. It is probably the best village to stay in in the area. We found surrounding villages very charming as well but some of them are simply just too hilly. Lourmarin also has a nice chateau. Nearby parking on the street was very easy.

I definitely would go there again.

Lourmarin is designated as one of the most beautiful villages in France. The village centre hosts many excellent restaurants. Cafes spill out onto the pavements and there are many galleries, designer boutiques, antique and gift shops. There is an excellent Friday morning market of local produce and artisan wares.

There is always a lively programme of events, including antique, book, truffle and other fairs, free music concerts, film evenings, etc. During the summer, the Protestant Temple is used as one of the venues for the Roque d'Antheron international piano festival. The Chateau sponsors a musical programme, as well.

Other activities catered for include: cookery courses, private French lessons, tennis, swimming, biking, etc.

The village is situated in unspoilt Provence, on the south side of the Luberon Mountains. The beautiful countryside surrounding the village includes fields of cherry trees, grape vines and olive orchards.

Other Activities: Cookery and art classes, French language tuition, canoeing.
