We stayed for a week in September and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cottage is lovely in a traditional way with lots of rustic charm, and the views from the roof terrace are amazing. The cottage itself is cosy and comfortable, ideal for a couple, with everything we needed for basic cooking - we thought it was really excellent value for money.
The owner was very friendly in all communications and helpful in providing us with lots of local information on tourist attractions, walks, restaurants, etc.
The village itself is lovely with several shops and a beautiful village square with a variety of places to eat and drink.
We did not have a car but found it fairly easy to get around - we took the 9am bus to Ronda a couple of times and got the bus or train back. The area is fantastic for walking - we walked for miles and were able to get back from both Ronda and Jimera de Libar by taking the train to the neighbouring village of Benaojan and walking from there - about 3km but be warned very steep! Montejaque itself and the surrounding area are very hilly so if you love walking its fine but if steep hills are a problem then a car would definitely be necessary.
A note about the village swimming pool - apparently it is only open during school holidays so was closed when we were there - I think it closed sometime around the 2nd week of September, not sure when exactly in the year it re-opens.
Overall the area is amazing with lots to do - we combined our trip with visits to Gibraltar, Cordoba and Granada - all by public transport which is cheap and easy to use. Montejaque is a great place for a relaxing getaway and the cottage is charming and great value for money.
