About this property

Charming village cottage in one of the famed white villages with fabulous views

A cozy white cottage tucked away in a corner of the beautiful village of Montejaque retaining its original charm and a get away from it all feel. The views from its roof terrace are as good as it gets. The house lies at the top of the beautiful old village close to the start of the national park, so very easy access for long scenic walks. An ideal place for a peaceful break - walking, birdwatching, sightseeing and relaxing. The cottage has one bedroom with a double and single bed and adjacent bathroom, a sitting/dining room on the ground floor with a wood burner for the chilly winter evenings with an adjacent kitchen. A spacious roof terrace is accessed from main stairs, it is behind and above the house. The bars, shops and restaurants are a few hundred meters away, and the communal pool a little further.

Memorable location
The location and view from rooftop terrace were wonderful and we really enjoyed staying in Montejaque. The location and very reasonable price helped us overlook the tricky shower, gas cooker and tripping oven. No toilet paper at all provided...unusual..., nor a bag of wood for stove as listed online. Overall though the terrace and location are memorable. Maria was also very friendly and helpful when we managed to arrive in the middle of santa semana celebrations.

Great escape in the Mountains
Montejaque is a perfect escape in the Sierra De Grazlema national park. The cottage sits high up in the town and it's a steep path up but offers stunning views across the mountains. Grateful for the wood burner as it was very cool at night. Sweet little place to stay for a getaway from it all stay. Loved Antonios bar in the main square. Perfect for a rest and beer after rambling about the mountain paths around town. Ronda is an easy 25 minutes drive too!

Lovely cottage in beautiful mountain village
We stayed for a week in September and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cottage is lovely in a traditional way with lots of rustic charm, and the views from the roof terrace are amazing. The cottage itself is cosy and comfortable, ideal for a couple, with everything we needed for basic cooking - we thought it was really excellent value for money. The owner was very friendly in all communications and helpful in providing us with lots of local information on tourist attractions, walks, restaurants, etc. The village itself is lovely with several shops and a beautiful village square with a variety of places to eat and drink. We did not have a car but found it fairly easy to get around - we took the 9am bus to Ronda a couple of times and got the bus or train back. The area is fantastic for walking - we walked for miles and were able to get back from both Ronda and Jimera de Libar by taking the train to the neighbouring village of Benaojan and walking from there - about 3km but be warned very steep! Montejaque itself and the surrounding area are very hilly so if you love walking its fine but if steep hills are a problem then a car would definitely be necessary. A note about the village swimming pool - apparently it is only open during school holidays so was closed when we were there - I think it closed sometime around the 2nd week of September, not sure when exactly in the year it re-opens. Overall the area is amazing with lots to do - we combined our trip with visits to Gibraltar, Cordoba and Granada - all by public transport which is cheap and easy to use. Montejaque is a great place for a relaxing getaway and the cottage is charming and great value for money.
