The property at Plumbago Avenue, Sunset Crest, St. James is located in a most sought after area of the West Coast of Barbados. and we have the added attraction of our own private pool and yet we are within a five mnute walk to the Beach, to OUR COMMUNITY beach club where all guests are automatically Members and free to use the facilities there. Events are held regularly here during the months of winter - i.e. sunset drinks and food, barbecues, New Years eve celebrations, Valentines night party - and all at budget prices....with live music - its a great extra addition to your holiday.
My property is maintained to a high standard and we are constantly upgrading - it is clean, fresh and welcoming - spotless. The whole property is fully screened against insects!
The beaches of the West Coast are within minutes walk and the area abounds with activities available - including two world class golf courses, tennis courts, horse riding, every water sport imaginable and lots of shops, restaurants and bars.
We are in a quiet location, without traffic noise - and a parkland area next door to the property gives access to all the above activities without having to run the gauntlet of the traffic - of which, of late, there is a lot in Barbados.
You can relax by the pool and do nothing....its up to you.
our community pool, called the Beach Club with its own pool and access to the beach which you can also use if you want to be right by the beach - and you can use this as a base for a day walking the beaches either to the North or the South of the area.....there are bathroom facilities here.....and the Beach House right next door has a beautiful Restaurant and Bar.
There is now a beach bar also. overlooking the sea where cocktails can be enjoyed called 'Drift'...check it out - you will be welcome
Plumbago : The one apartment and the Villa (two bedrooms, two bathrooms)are available for rent either seperately or together - the pool is solely for the use of whoever is living on the property.
There is a lovely balcony on both apartments and extra outside patio with access from the lower apartment..... fully equipped kitchens and very large bathrooms cum dressing rooms. They are bright and airy and very comfortable.
The Villa has two outside areas belonging to it.
The property faces West but the cooling winds that come from the East keep these two places cool as there are windows/doors which allow the winds to pass through. The apartments were built to null and void the need for Air Conditioning - the windows are louvre windows and the doors also - so built to maximise the Trade Winds that blow.
There is a pool deck also that is for the sole use of the residents of the apartments and Villa.
General: Sunset Crest has grown dramatically in the last twenty years and is now a major hub on the Island. We have everything here and there is very rarely the need for a Car as the local bus service is so good - running from early morning to late at night to most popular places on the island. . There is a lively atmosphere about the area with lots of eating places and local bars where the toursts and locals meet in very friendly atmospheres.
The beaches are all close by and one can walk both North and South from or own Beach Club and one amazing beach follows the other. The swimming is to die for with most beaches on this Coast havng good shade from the trees that line the Coast.
Barbados offers a variety of things to do or you can do nothing, according to your mood..

Excellent pool area, well maintained, private & close to the beach (!) Owner looked well after us and gave valuable advise. Shopping for food was easy at Massy store nearby also Sandy Crest Medical Center was open 24/7 for service ( 10 min walk ) Al in all highly recommended
An absolute joy and privilege to visit Barbados. The accomadion was absolutely superb. Went for a week with a plan of activities however spend most of the time at home. The accomadtion was beautiful, well kept, clean and tidy and amazing garden. The decor, the pool, the lounge, the breakfast area and the rooms were absolutely superb.
I would strongly recommend this accommodation, will be coming back just to stay there again.
Great location near the centre of Holetown
Just returned from a two week holiday at Plumbago Villa. We rented the whole property (villa and both studios) for a family holiday. Absolutely loved it - a real homely feel which we prefer to the often sterile atmosphere in a hotel. Diane was the ideal host, available and helpful when needed, she gave us a lift to the supermarket on day 1 so we could get some essentials before they closed. She also gave us lots of helpful information to make our stay more enjoyable. Janice who cleaned was friendly and efficient, happy to accommodate our needs.
The best bit for me though was the location - and easy stroll to the centre of Holetown with all the amenities there and a really local beach, untainted by the rows of sun beds often present near the larger hotels. A couple of decent beach bar / restaurants completed the picture for a beach loving family. Yes, there are plenty of beach vendors trying to sell you this, that or the next thing but a polite 'no' is always accepted, albeit with some friendly banter.
There are also a wider range of restaurants within easy reach of the villa, we did some fine dining - The Cliff, Tides and Lonestar are all within a few minutes taxi ride (or bus). We also hired a car for a few days and did a few great houses, the earthworks pottery factory, Batak and gallery, a tour of the East Coast and of course Bridgetown and a catamaran trip.
Having been to Barbados twice before and stayed in hotels on the south coast on both occasions, I definitely prefer the west coast and the freedom of a villa / apartment with pool. Plumbago is truly one of the best for the price. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend and will probably return ourselves.
Home from home
Diane made us extremely welcome at Plumbago Villa. Set in a quiet residential location the villa , garden and pool are well maintained and delightful. Holetown had everything we needed within a comfortable walk, a lovely quiet beach, restaurants, bars and good supermarket, so it made for a relaxing, stress free week. We hired a car for a couple of days (then dropped off at the airport) so we could see some of the island. Diane reckons she's in the best location and to be honest, she is absolutely right. We thoroughly enjoyed our week in Barbados and I suspect we will be returning to see Diane before too long.
This was our second stay at Plumbago, and we hope there will be many more. The first, two years ago, we were in the lower apartment, this time in the villa and also the upper apartment for friends to stay in. A warm personal welcome awaits from Diane, who now lives in the lower apartment. Both the villa and apartments are excellently appointed and kept spotlessly clean. Bed linen and towels changed by the wonderful Janice whenever you wish. The garden and pool beautifully maintained, quiet and private. Yet the beach, Holetown village with everything you need, a choice of top quality restaurants, public transport and health centre are all within a few minutes walk. This really is a prime location and a delightful rental. Highly recommended.
This is the second time we have stayed at Plumbago, the first time was 13 years ago when we brought the children with us, so we stayed in the villa. This time we came on our own and rented the bottom apartment.. On first inspection the apartment was clean and tidy and had everything you would need for a lovely holiday. There was plenty of wardrobe space to hang all our clothes which was in the bathroom/ dressing room. The apartment complex is exactly as described by Diane with a lovely pool for cooling off when the sun gets too hot. The gardens have been well maintained and stocked with all sorts of exotic plants which attract all sorts of birds, including hummingbirds. The property is just a short two minute walk to the supermarket shopping complex and 5-10 minute walk to Limegrove shopping centre with it's designer shops, bars and cafes. The beach is only across the road from the supermarket and the Beach House also. We enjoyed the use of The Beach House, it is a haven away from pedlars on the beaches and has a bar, restaurant, showers, a nice pool and safes. Plumbago villas and apartments are cleaned regularly, even when not in use. The upper apartment is more modern, with just about everything looking new, whilst the lower apartment is slightly older looking, but still lovely. Diane has years of experience in the hotel trade and has set herself high standards which shine through within the complex. Please be aware though that this property is within a residential area and there are other people living within the area that have dogs, do gardening, building work etc. Generally the area is quiet, just far enough away from the main road not to hear the traffic noise. We would not hesitate to recommend Plumbago to our friends and family and we wish we were still there!

one can walk everywhere. The beach is a few minutes stroll away as are the shops, restauants, bars and ,now , two VIP cinemas.
On Plumbago Avenue we are particularly blessed as we are located at the end of a cul de sac and right next door to lovely parkland. This park gives access to all the amenities of Holetown. It is NOT a playpark for children, so quiet and restful - there is NO NOISE from traffic , which can impact on ones serenity.
Your own DRIVER pick up can be arranged for your arrival and departure.
Buses to all part of the island are frequent.
Our private Beach Club is available for your use..it's right on the beach a mere five minutes walk away. Amenities include : pool, showers, bathrooms, lockers, loungers, tables and chairs and private access to its own beautiful beach. The recently build boardwalk is outside which gives access to north and south of Holetown. Next door to the Club is the Beach House Restaurant and bar, plus the Drift bar, serving cocktails, drinks and specialised food nights.
Beautiful beaches are just a stones throw away from the property as are all the amenities of the area, including golf, tennis, horse riding, diving and every known watersport. There are lots of shops and supermarket, cafes, bars and restaurants of every description which cater for all budgets. In February we have the Holetown Festival
You wll also have use of our private Beach Club which is a few minutes walk away - this gives access to the beach wth lockers for your personal items - so you can stroll up and down the beach unencumbered. There are showers, wash rooms, , restaurant and bar there too - a beautiful setting ...also a new cocktail bar called 'DRIFT' next to the Beach House.

- The two apartments have EXTRA LARGE bathrooms cum dressing rooms. ....so no clothes need to be put in bedrooms leaving that space clear for just lounging, watching tv, laptop work or listening to the radio. Both are large , spacious and airy with everything built in to a high standard and lots of cupboard and hanging space. The Villa has two bedrooms, one en suite , the second bedroom has its own bathroom but is not en suite. All bathrooms are fiinshed with vanity units in ccorian and wooden bespoke vanity units.

I usually occupy the lower apt which is only available to rent when I'm travelling myself! - The pool is central to this property and is for the exclusive use of guests and we have found that there is no problem with the sharing by our guests, as they get to know each other and it is a favourite spot for hanging out, having a chat or a sundowner - or if you dont want to be sociable, you have your own private patio or the back garden . The pool is about twenty eight feet long and l5 foot wide at its widest point - it is amoeba shaped with a handrail and also a ladder. The deep end is 5 foot six inches deep and the shallow end 3 foot deep. It is well maintained and always sparklingly clean - when the sun is out the finish of diamond brite which has been used on the pool makes it look like the sea when the sun is out and it is a cloudless sky....very inviting. THERE IS LOTS OF SPACE FOR SITTING OUT , READING, LOUNGING OR HAVING THAT HARD WORKED FOR COCKTAIL ! WE OFFER FREE WI FI, FREE TELEPHONE FOR LOCAL CALLS, FREE LAUNDRY FACILITIES
