Beautiful Provencal villa with magnificent views

Maison Rourabeau is set in the heart of the Luberon National Park in Provence. Surrounded by vineyards and with magnificent views over the gorgeous countryside of the southern Luberon, including Mont Saint Victoire and Le Grand Luberon mountain, this ancient farmhouse, restored with all modern comforts, provides a private and secluded oasis of tranquillity within easy reach of the finest things that this wonderful part of France has to offer. A world away from the hurly burly of modern life, the house and its amenities, including the large private swimming pool, provide a wonderful location to unwind and relax with friends and family in any season.

Our farmhouse offers 7 bedrooms,5 en-suite and 2 sharing a bathroom.On the first floor there are 4 equally large bedrooms all en-suite. A wooden staircase is leading to the attic with 2 smaller bedrooms and a bathroom to share (ideal for chirldren/ teenagers) and an independant bedroom accessible from outside(situated next to the terrace in front of the kitchen) with en-suite facilities. All bedrooms are furnished in a décor that is typically provençal mixed with French antiques.

On entering through the front door there is a spacious salon to your left, further on a 2nd salon with a large tv, straight on stairs leading up to the first floor and to your right a few stairs going down to the kitchen. The kitchen is well equipped with a large dining table in the middle. Further on from the kitchen is the laundry room and a downstairs toilet.

The independent bedroom is only accessible from the outside and situated next to the terrace in front of the kitchen.

Children: Children are welcome and there is a wide range of activities available for them. In warm weather, the pool is obviously a centre of attraction and activity. Due to its rural and tranquil location, it's a wonderful area for children to explore, either on foot or by bike. There are a number of equestrian centres nearby, as well as public tennis and basketball courts. Kayaking is available at Isle sur la Sorgue and on the Lac Ste Victoire, and there are a number of beaches on the coast which can be reached in about an hour by car from the house. We have a wide selection of toys, games and children's DVDs if the weather is inclement. Bicycles are available for hire in nearby Pertuis.

"It was the most amazing week. We wanted to leave our three years in Europe with a bang and we certainly did. Your home is fabulous. Everything was perfect. The beds, the showers, the living areas and of course the location and scenery. It was amazing and one we will cherish for years to come. We always loved France but at Rourabeau we found her soul. Perfect Provençal retreat

Absolutely perfect! We couldn't have found anywhere better. We had a family reunion of 3 generations to celebrate my birthday! Family came from Scotland, USA and New Zealand.

This traditional farmhouse has been beautifully restored, the bedrooms and bathrooms were charming with lovely furnishings, excellent showers and plenty room for us all. The kitchen was perfect area for us to celebrate and exceedingly well stocked. The pool was amazing - a hotel style pool with fantastic views over the countryside. Lovely peaceful gardens and outside eating area.

Ulrike and René were extremely helpful, especially in helping us book an evening at a local restaurant.

Ulrike recommended La Closerie in Ansouis - they were not to keen on such a large group but she persevered and they finally agreed. We had a fantastic meal at this michelin star restaurant which was perfect for our celebration.

The Luberon is a lovely area, we visited local villages, markets, had a day trip to Cassis and Aix en Provence. Would love to come back and have more time to explore on bike and do some walking.

Most of all it was lovely to be in France, enjoy the food and wine in such a beautiful place and meet up with all our family.

Maison Rourabeau lived up to all our expectations - thank you for letting us share it with you.

Oasis of tranquility in Provence

This beautiful villa sits high up on the hillside, majestically watching over 25K acres of vineyards and olive groves. The location is breath-taking as you enter through the double iron gates and are met with delightful gardens, full of the most wonderful floral aromas. The swimming pool is luxurious by design and larger than most hotel pools we have seen in France. (The only constructive criticism we have is that the pool would benefit from being heated, which would assist extending the length of the rental season).

The house itself was superbly laid out, providing excellent accommodation and en-suite facilities throughout.

The kitchen, utility room and summer dining facilities left us wanting for nothing. We used the outdoor BBQ and pizza oven using the vineyard discarded branches to "perfume" the meat very successfully.

The house was made of thick Provencal stone walls, which kept the house call in the heat of the day, without the need for A/C. The house was well equipped for children, providing excellent entertainment including Sky Sports....just in case we needed to keep up with the world of Rugby, Euro 2016, Roland Garros etc!!

One piece of advice.....should you wish to really get to know the hill top villages of Provence, hire the amazing electric bikes, which open up a whole new world of exploration and whether you are a hardened tri-athlete or not, they permit you to explore as a family without the obvious pain we saw in other cyclists as they ascended seemingly endless hill climbs.....just click on the battery, engage a higher gear (7 in total) and ease your way up....brilliant and amazingly easy to operate. However, our recommendation on rental would be a resounding thank you to Yohann (00 33 7 78 68 34 94) Rent Bike Luberon - (they will deliver, collect and even help you collect your shopping!!).

Visit Oppede, Gordes, Rousillon, Bonnieux, Colorado, Menerbes, Lourmarin and La foret de cedres.

Definitely recommend this beautiful house and Ulrike and her husband were the perfect managing hosts.

PS Visit Paul and Karinne at the Café de la Fontaine for the best evening out in terms of food, wine and hospitality - we found Paul (Monsieur le Maire) the ultimate host.

Wouldn't hesitate to return in two weeks time to see those beautiful lavender fields in bloom!

Le beau Mas de Rourabeau

I had a fantastic week staying at the Mas de Rourabeau. Not far from the amenities of La Tour d'Aigues (3kms), the mas offers tranquility, charm and luxury. It has been well renovated and to a very high standard. All rooms and en-suites are impeccable and decorated in the Provencal style. The kitchen is amazing with its old cellar ceiling, it has all the modern commodities. Cooking there was really enjoyable with plenty of space to turn a few meals into feasts. Outside there is a magnificent bread oven and a barbecue with a superb terrace to enjoy a glass of wine (or two for some) and a meal with views on the surrounding vineyards. I ventured making a pizza which I think turned out to be very tasty. Rourabeau is really a good spot for walking (2kms to St Martin) or cycling and exploring villages - not to forget all the local markets for local and fresh food - in the nearby vicinity (Cucuron, Ansouis, Lourmarin etc) and of course lazing around the swimming pool with a good book. At the time of my stay in May the countryside was full of red poppies, all very beautiful. The house garden is also very beautiful with large amount of pretty and colourful flowers, bushes and trees as well as olive trees. The Mas is surrounded with vineyards and has amazing views over the countryside. Unfortunately, I only stayed at the Mas de Rourabeau for a week but I could have stayed there forever! It is a fantastic retreat.

Sehr schön gelegene, ruhige Villa

Wir hatten mit 14 Personen eine sehr schöne Woche. Schon nach dem Aussteigen aus dem Auto erfasste mich der Zauber der Landschaft und die Ruhe, die von dort ausgeht.

Le Mas de Rourabeau is set in the heart of the Luberon national park in Provence, surrounded by vineyards and with magnificent views over the gorgeous countryside of the southern Luberon, including Mont Saint Victoire and Le Grand Luberon mountain. The house is handily located for those who wish to explore the historic villages of the region such as Cucuron, Lourmarin, Ansouis, Bonnieux, Menerbes, Gordes and Roussillon, or the wonders of Aix-en-Provence and Avignon. The beaches of Cassis, La Ciotat and beyond are approximately an hour's drive away. Lovers of watersports can indulge themselves in the nearby Etang de la Bonde or the Lac de Sainte Croix, which, together with the magnificent Gorges du Verdon, is about an hour and a half's drive away. The roman remains at Nimes, Arles, Orange and St Remy de Provence are all within easy reach, and the area is blessed with a number of wonderful restaurants and vignobles offering the opportunity to sample the local wines.
