Charming old farmhouse with a fantastic pool

  • 5 of 5

We were met at the property by Silvia. The approach to the house is up a steep but perfectly driveable hill. There is a parking area a little way down the hill and a tight parking and turning area next to the house. We had a Ford C Max and easily managed the hill and turning area.

Following a warm welcome from Silvia and her husband we were shown around this charming old farmhouse. Silvia responded very quickly to any questions that we had during our stay.

The farmhouse is on a terrace on a hillside in an orchard of olive and fruit trees. The scent from the Jasmine around the door was wonderful! Having access to fresh lemons was a real bonus.

We ate out under the covered table every evening – a lovely location to enjoy a family meal after the heat of the day. The kitchen is small and basic but was good enough to enable us to produce an evening meal for every day we were there.

The bedrooms and bathrooms are clean and comfortable. The shutters are a welcome means for keeping out the heat of the sun which in turn makes the house a comfortable place to retreat to for an afternoon snooze.

By far the very best thing about this property is the clean and well maintained pool. The location and views are stunning. We could have spent the whole holiday either in or next to the pool.

The house is about 20 minutes from the walled city of Lucca. From here there is access to a good supermarket – Esselunga, the railway station for trips to Florence and Pisa and the motorway.

If you want privacy, a quiet location, comfortable beds and a fantastic pool all at a reasonable price then this is the place for you.

Unbelievable!

  • 5 of 5

This old farm house is the perfect place to stay. Its in perfect condition without having lost its style. Located in the middle of a nice forest of olives you will not be disturbed by traffic or neighbors.

While swimming in the pool (in the olive forest, 80 m from the house) the only thing you see are the nice green mountains of the surrounding valley. Due to the location in the mountains its not too hot when you sit outside in the evening. And if you have kids they will love to swim in the pool and to explore the wild creeks in the surrounding.

Nevertheless the place is just 20 min. from Lucca downtown and 40 min from Pisa and the sea. A 15 min. walk brings you to the village with little shop, restaurant, church and tourist information.

The landlord will not disturb you but is immediately available in case of any problem. I can fully recommend to stay here and we are seriously considering to come back next summer.

I adored this place

  • 5 of 5

We arrived at the gates to the villa following Silvia from Lucca. Entered the gates, passed the gorgeous horses Silvia has and proceeded up a very scary hill. There were five of us. When we reached the top of the hill and the flat area of the Villa we all frankly gasped with pleasure. Nestled in the hills this villa in a stunning location. The pool was wonderful and I could have spent our entire time sitting beside it or swimming in it. The Villa itself is a converted barn and is not fancy and the kitchen is small. Having said this we didn't care a fig. The bedrooms were large and comfortable. The kitchen had everything we required, the beds were comfy. There is a large table right outside the dining room where we ate constantly. The scent of the flowering vine growing over the walls, the conifer trees around us and that unbelievable view made dining outside a dream come true. Silvia is not particularly attentive about bedding, towels and garbage collection but we had a storm with a power outage and she came immediately to help. Really, if you want to be pampered pay twice as much for another Villa or go to a hotel. If you want total privacy, stunning views, a marvellous pool and comfortable beds and washrooms this is the place for you.

The Villa is about 15 minutes to Lucca, a town we adored for its peaceful, civilized atmosphere and lack of the huge crowds we found in Florence, Venice, Sienna etc. We were 10 minutes from Esselunga - a very large grocery store that had everything we needed and more. There are two restaurants (one a walk away, the other a 3 minute drive). The food was not fantastic but good enough for the two nights we wanted to eat out without going far.

Honestly, I would return here in a nanosecond. Great value for money. Oh and the hill: by the third time up it we didn't even think about it anymore. Thank you Silvia for our time in Paradise!! Hope you are well and apologies for feeding Jasmine to the horses - I couldn't resist them.

Owner's Response: Dear Michelle, I hope everything goes well firstly I wanted you my best wishes for the New Year !!!! It's been some time since I received your review and I apologize for not having done it before but i have rent the property for one year thanks for the kind words you have given for my property ; about difficolt that you reported of the access road, I point out that the house was always rented (15 years) without any complaints from guests who often arrived with large car also because this is a typical Tuscany country road ; the access road is not dirt that climbs well in car; evidently in Australia you are used to a road system made mostly of large roads in the plains. I wanted to point out that it seems impossible that I do not pay attention to the laundry because I try to assign each room colorful linens such as towels. The Kitchen is just only for cooking because ne Waste collection takes place on different days but once a week depending on the type of waste and therefore a bit boring .... You can understand that my caveats are important to me because I wanted to say that the road is definitely not scared and which it is located halfway up the hill at only 200mt from the main road. thanks again Silvia also the access road is not dirt that climbs well in car; evidently in Australia you are used to a road system made mostly of large roads in the plains.

Perfect spring vacation in Lucca!!

  • 5 of 5

We - two families, 4 adults and 4 children - spent two weeks in spring in Silvia's fantastic house. Silvia is a great host, extremely friendly and helpful in every situation. The house is located in a calm village just outside of Lucca. It is surrounded by olive trees and located next to Silvia's horse ranch. Our kids loved the horses, which were kept very close to the house. We took horse riding classes und made a ride in the hills of Lucca. If you are not into horse riding, the house is still a great choice for your stay in Lucca and Tuscany. Lucca can be reached in 10 minutes by car. It is an amazing medieval town with a very relaxed and - at least in spring- not a too touristy vibe. The location of the house is great for trips too, as it is not far from the motorway, which brings you to the seaside in roughly 25 minutes or to Florence in about an hour. The house itself was equipped well enough for us to cook for our party of eight. The house was clean and in immaculate condition. The pool was great too. We can definitively recommend a stay in Silvia’s house!
