About the property

Lovely 2 Bed/2 Bath STB 4* modern sunny house in outstanding location near Oban

Mullach Dubh (pronounced Doo!) is a beautiful modern two bedroom two bathroom house in the prestigious Marina village of Craobh Haven (pronounced Croov!), near Oban. Our sunny light spacious home with its open plan living, well equipped kitchen and sunny garden is a perfect holiday home for families, couples and friends. We have Scottish Tourist Board 4* quality standard.

The tiny village of Craobh Haven, right on the sea with spectacular sunsets and views, is ideally situated midway between Oban and Lochgilphead in arguably the most stunning part of Argyll, with its amazing scenery, sea lochs, Hebridean islands, hills and moors, ancient history, art galleries and excellent shops, wonderful locally produced meat, fish, seafood and vegetables and first class restaurants.

Mullach Dubh - Living: Our beautiful new modern family home has been lovingly refurbished, redecorated, refurnished and re-carpeted to meet the highest sophisticated modern standards

The open plan living area is spacious, clean, warm and bright throughout - with sun pouring in from the large windows to the front and back, giving views to its namesake -Mullach Dubh- the bracken and heather 'tweed tapestry' hillside behind

The furniture is all brand new, exceptionally comfortable and decked with cushions and cosy throws. There is an open log fire with full log and coal baskets. With have free broadband wifi, a good library of books, DVDs, CDs, videos and books.

The solid wood dining table has 6 generous places and the chairs have padded cushions for maximum comfort. Views to the garden and hills beyond can be enjoyed whilst dining

The kitchen is newly fitted out with new white goods and worktops. As we are keen cooks we have ensured that it is fully equipped to suit every cook's needs, with quality cookware and table ware

Mullach Dubh - more Living: Upstairs is a double bedroom with en-suite shower room. The second bedroom has double or twin beds and there is a large family bathroom. All bedlinen is exceptionally good 100% cotton and there are plenty of fluffy towels. The new wardrobes and cupboards have loads of storage space and masses of hangers. The cot can be located in either bedroom.

The whole house is full of stunning examples of local artists', photographers' and craftspeople's work to complete the finishing touches to this beautiful and sophisticated holiday home.

The south facing garden catches the sun all day long and is a real sun trap, and there is a good supply of garden furniture, sun loungers and BBQ. The terrace offers spectacular views to Mullach Dubh, with its ever changing light

Craobh Haven: The village and marina were built some 25 years ago; the harbour created by ingeniously joining together a few small islands with a causeway, giving a stunning walk with frequent sightings of seals, sea birds, otters and eagles. There are wonderful views to the many Inner Hebridean islands and the famous Corryvreckan, the world's third largest whirlpool. Fishing boats work from the harbour and fresh seafood can be bought straight from the boats.

The Lord of the Isles pub has been newly taken over and refurnished, serves excellent food and is a WiFi internet point. Its windows and terrace offer spectacular views across the marina's many boats and harbour to the sea and islands beyond. The perfect place to 'ooh and aaah' at the unbelievable beautiful sunsets!

The village shop is well stocked and The Giving Tree gift shop/art gallery has successful exhibitions of professional local artists' work. The Lunga Riding Stables offer natural horsemanship from beautiful Appaloosa horses.

This is a review from a recent guest - unfortunately the online system wasn't working properly and she was unable to place the review herself...

We had a lovely week staying at Mullach Dubh the cottage was clean and welcoming with a welcome gift of scones and wine which we appreciated after a long drive. We visited lots of places Louisa and Mandy had suggested, the highlight for us was Isle of Seil and Easedale absolutely glorious the weather helped that day as it was sunny. Another place we enjoyed was Crinan, we walked along the Canal and watched all the boats coming into the marina and the we had coffee and scones in the lovely cafe. Oban is only 25 minutes away we went there twice for petrol but enjoyed looking around and had lunch in Ee'usk restaurant. On another day had coffee and homemade cake in Julie's Pantry, we also treated ourselves to a tartan wool blanket which looks great in our home. We spent nice evenings in the Lord of the Isles pub eating there a few times, the food was delicious. On the two sunny days we had we sat outside the pub watching the boats in the Marina (very relaxing). Overall we had a great holiday in Scotland and made some nice memories. I would recommend Mullach Dubh it is an Ideal place for exploring the Argyll Coast.

A real home from home

  • 5 of 5

We came here to celebrate a special birthday and had the best time. Louisa and Mandy gave us excellent information before our visit and we arrived to find wine, birthday cake, flowers and a card which was a wonderful start to our visit. The house is cosy, warm, clean and comfortable and equipped with everything you could possibly want. The views from Craobh Haven are stunning and we had a fantastic birthday meal in the Lords of the Isles. We spent a great day visiting Kilmartin Glen and the Crinan area and another day visiting the Isle of Seil, Oban and Dunstaffnage. There is so much to do in the area that we could have been busy every day, but it is also a lovely place just to rest and relax. A memorable holiday.

Lovely house in a stunning location

  • 5 of 5

We have just spent a lovely 10 days here and would really recommend a stay if stunning scenery is what you're looking for. The house was clean, comfortable and really well equipped which made life much easier for us as we have a 10 month old daughter. Craobh Haven is a lovely little place where you can feel 'away from it all' but equally it is so close to so many places, we always felt there was plenty to do. The Lord of the Isles Pub in the village serves lovely meals which we were lucky enough to enjoy alfresco looking out onto the marina and to the sea beyond. Trips to Oban, Mull, Loch Fyne and the beautiful gardens at Ardauine are a must to name but a few.

Louisa and Mandy provided helpful information on what to do in the area and made the whole booking procedure so straightforward. After a very long journey getting to the house, the home baked scones and wine waiting for us was a lovely gesture.

It was wonderful

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I and our 2 young children had one of our best holidays. Louisa and Mandy gave us brilliant advice before our trip - the house was wonderful. We loved the pub, the people, the area, the scenery and there was so much to do for us all. Even the wet, windy days were fun as we were able to sit by the fire, eat the delicious scones cooked by jo and play board games. A huge thank you and we would recommend this to anyone.

Lovely quiet house

  • 5 of 5

West Highlands are a lovely area to visit and Craobh Haven was hidden right next to the sea, close enough to all the places we wanted to visit.

The house is pretty and cosy, nicely decorated and very clean. We enjoyed our welcoming gift very much and had a great stay overall.

The kitchen is fully equipped and the beds very comfy. The house is warm and can be heated up quickly and using the stove is a nice bonus.

The only downside I'd say is that the bath in one of the bathrooms cannot really be used as a shower by adults due to height restrictions but that was absolutely fine.

Importantly, Mandy and Louise have been very helpful from the beginning of the booking and are great hosts.

I would highly recommend staying there!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for a such a wonderful review. We're delighted you loved our beautiful family home and all its comforts. So sorry you found the shower over the bath a little tricky, but we're so pleased to have the unusual luxury of a separate en-suite shower room with a vast roomy shower in it - so I do hope you were able to use this! We'd love to see you back again. Louisa

Craobh Haven between Oban and Lochgilphead is a stunningly beautiful, peaceful tranquil marina village. It has many walks, drives, unspoilt beaches, sea, lochs and views. Arguably this area is the most beautiful in all Argyll and has the best seafood, fish and local meat in many restaurants, cafes and shops. Thriving Oban, with its busy shopping centre, restaurants, ferries to Hebridean islands, is on the way to Glencoe and Fort William. Perfect area for walking, golfing, cycling or wildlife watching. A great day out is the Mull of Kintyre boasting Macrihanish Golf Course, surfing beaches, wide golden sands, whisky trails, great food. Great location for island hopping too - all the inner and outer Hebridean islands- Mull, Iona, Skye, Islay, Jura, the Uists and many more.
