Overview

About the property

The Lodge is 5 Bdrm 4 Baths, Chefs Kitchen, Game Room, Great Room Large Deck...

Pend Orielle Lodge sits on seven acres overlooking the Pend Orielle River Valley and is constructed of Massive White pine logs. The Pend Oreille River flows from the Clark Fork River in Montana, into Pend Orielle Lake in Idaho, then Into Washington state where it meanders past Pend Orielle lodge and into Canada and the Columbia River. My favorite place in the world to enjoy the sunrise is in the Pend Oreille Lodge great room overlooking the river, sitting on the fireplace hearth with my bare feet on the Buffalo rug and a good cup of coffee in my hand.

Eagles and Osprey can often be seen fishing in front of the lodge early in the morning. You may want to join them and canoe out or cast from shore for Rainbow trout, German Browns, Bass, or Northern Pike before the sun warms the morning air. For those who enjoy water skiing or tubing the mornings and evenings provide the smoothest water in the entire region.

Summer afternoons are warm and comfortable, sometimes down right hot and a swim in the river is just the ticket. Many of our guests pack a picnic lunch and boat to one of the white sand beaches on the many islands along the river. Others just relax on the deck in the afternoon with a cold beverage, and enjoy the view. Another popular and under rated activity is to drive out into the middle of the river, turn the boat off and take a slow afternoon drift downstream swimming, fishing and just enjoying the River.

In the evening the game room offers pool as well as video games and a good selection of movies. We do have a large outdoor fire pit as well that is used mostly in the spring and fall... Please check fire restrictions in the summer before lighting a big bonfire!

For families with little ones the Camas wellness center located just 10 minutes up the road has 5 swimming pools water slides, hot tub, saunas, steam rooms, Gymnasium, 30 foot rock climbing wall, daily zumba and yoga classes, state of the art exercise equipment, doctor and dentist offices, and even a great Deli Restaurant open to the public.

When we spend time at the lodge in the winter we work out at the Camas daily and stop in for a spa on the way home from Snowboarding.

1/2 mile down the road from the Lodge is a US Forrest service access road that leads to literally hundreds of miles of mountain biking and forrest service roads that will actually take you all the way through Idaho to Montana by crossing only one paved road. For golfers the ranch club is a great little 9 hole course just down the road toward Priest river. Our local Mexican Restaurant serves up great authentic Mexican entrees for under $8 and the service is fast! The ranch club golf course has great pizza and weekend specials. Kellys Bar in Newport is the oldest bar in Washington state and serves great burgers as well as very cold beer. The area simply packed with things to do and the lodge is a great place to retire to each evening to recharge for another day of adventures.

We havet high speed fiber WiFi so if you need to catch up on a little work the option is there ......

(but not recommended).

Simply put when you arrive at the lodge take your shoes off and put your flip flops and smiles on ......

About Grace Reel

I work in Alaska as a commercial pilot operating a hunting Guide service 'Wild Alaska Hunts" and a commercial fishing boat in Bristol Bay. My wife Grace and I spend 3-4 months each winter at the lodge snowboarding with my 16 year old son Matt. We normally buy season passes at 49 Degrees North Ski and snowboard resort and cut first tracks every day we get new snow. We like to reserve at least a week or two in the summer at the lodge to enjoy the water and sunshine.

Grace Reel purchased this lodge in 1994

Beautiful Lodge Retreat!

  • 5 of 5

On a recent work trip, where lodging options were limited, we decided to live locally for our stay...so happy we made this decision! The property alone is beautiful and the hosts were so gracious, welcoming, and couldn't have been nicer (they even left marinating salmon in the refrigerator for us!). The home is well-equipped and featured a chef's kitchen, that we enjoyed making breakfast and dinner in. Having only WiFi was perfect for our work and music needs. This home is truly a retreat and was so much fun and such a postivie experience! The views do NOT disappoint. Watching the sunrise and wildlife (deer, ducks, eagles), with a cup of coffee in hand, was something you can't get at a hotel chain. Thank you Chad and Grace for a wonderful experience and welcoming us into your home! We can't wait to come back later in the summer!

Owner's Response: Thanks for the nice review Jennifer, we truly enjoyed hosting you. The place was left spotless, almost like no one had even been there. When guests are as nice professional and friendly as you and your assistant were it makes our job rewarding. See you and your team in a few months. Chad & Grace

Beautiful Retreat

  • 4 of 5

The Lodge is amazing no the location on the river is breath taking. The owner was very responsive and helped us through a few hiccups. We used the property for a family reunion and had plenty of room, as well as activities right at the property.

Great Dissappointment

  • 1 of 5

In 10-years with Homeaway and no prior problem rentals, this was a great disappointment. Due to space limits, a full review cannot be given and this rental home was far below typical standards. Be aware-limited number of photos and for good reason. The only redeeming quality is location and scenery. Beautiful setting, quiet and serene with sightings of eagles, deer, fox, and other wildlife. 1st Floor - 3 bedrooms. #1 has a queen size bed & queen size mattress leaning on the wall. No other furniture, closets have no doors. One window no shade. All shades in bedrooms permits a great deal of light. #2 has a queen bed with 18 in. to wall on either side. No closet, furniture is an old office desk. #3 has a queen bed on the floor (no frame), an old office desk, no doors on the closets, which were packed with sheets/towels. 1 bathroom on this level, dirty & mineral build up in the tub/sink, broken handle in the shower and a broken stopper in the sink. A room with a washer, drier and a freezer. Freezer had dried blood on the lid, extremely dirty inside with a frozen rattle snake inside.

Main floor - master bedroom, king bed on the floor (no frame). Only one light bulb was working. Master shower had muddy foot prints on the floor. Main living area had two small couches, a broken recliner, and a rocking chair. Kitchen - no freezer, no ice trays. Refrigerator was large. Stove and oven were good size and functioned well. Cooking utensils were dirty (greasy or cooked on food) and mismatched like garage sale items. Dishes, eating utensils, serving items and glassware were a cacophony, with very few items coming from the same place setting. The upper level contained the 5th bedroom which had a queen bed and an attached bath but no door rather a curtain.

Short List of issues with this rental:

• Entire home needed to be vacuumed due to dirt, rocks and debris, taking 90 minutes

• Coffee maker had moldy grounds and needed to be cleaned

• Numerous pots or pans had grease or food left in the cookware

• Had to clean hair out of the shower drain

• There were only 3 Bathrooms – listing sates 4 and 1/2

• The ½ bath was inoperable and no attempt was made to repair

• No microwave in home – text message from owner promised one, it never showed up

• Propane tank empty – request for refill was denied.

• Linens were worn, mismatched, and thread bare.

• Listing suggests A/C, there is none.
