Stunning villa with private pool in beautiful woodland surroundings.

Overview

Property

Updated: 22-Jun-2016
A spacious self catering villa, close to the river with modern furnishing.

Welcome to our luxury, secluded villa in the heart of Portugal. Our aspirations, when we purchased this property, were to have a place were we could enjoy the superb climate away from the crowds in a totally unspoilt, beautiful environment.

The air conditioned villa has two double ensuite bedrooms. Downstairs the villa has a bedroom with two single beds. The villa's living area is large and open plan with a modern kitchen including a fridge freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. The dining table has 8 chairs. There is a flat screen TV with sky reception and a DVD player. The sofa converts to a 3/4 sofa bed. There is a DVD and book library. Also, there is a cosy open fire for those winter evenings.

Outside there are many areas to enjoy the stunning views or laze by the pool. If you prefer something more energetic there is a volleyball/beach tennis court and a 10m x 5m freshwater swimming pool with the latest ultraviolet cleansing system. We also have a kayak for you to use.

A beautiful peaceful villa in fab location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in Sardineiro for a week in May and had a wonderful family holiday. We were a group of 8; 4 adults,1 teenager, 1 child and 2 toddlers/babies and the villa was clean, comfortable and well equipped for all of us. The older children loved the fantastic pool and the babies loved the outdoor shower!! We enjoyed great days out to local towns (not a British tourist in sight, yippee!) and trips on the kayak on the river - clean for swimming too! Our evenings were spent in the peace and quiet with plenty of local wine on the balcony!! We had a barbeque most days and the local Lidl supermarket was a god-send for our family! The villa is surrounded by picturesque countryside, friendly locals and sounds of tranquillity. We cannot recommend this villa enough for a quiet family holiday in 'real', rural Portugal - definitely worth a visit, a lovely place.

A beautiful holiday home

  • 5 of 5

Very impressed! The villa was comfortable, clean and ideal for a family getaway without any other tourists! The house is surrounded by stunning views and is only a short walk from the lake which is ideal for canoeing or swimming. We spent hours lazing by the crystal clear pool and ventured into the local town to the supermarket and the town BBQ on a Sunday morning which I would strongly recommend.

All in all a very relaxing stay and we were lucky enough to have blue skies and sun all week - a perfect getaway.

A lovely relaxing holiday.

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay in Sardenheiro, it was wonderfully relaxing yet fun at the same time. We had great weather so made the most of out the excellent pool and inflatables. The house itself was very well equipped with good facilities.

The surrounding areas are breath taking with amazing views of the mountains, and the house only being a 5 minute walk to the lake, which we swam in!

The village is so interesting, and we were lucky enough to meet the local farmer who lives nearby, and was kind enough to show us around and give us some of his produce.

All in all one of the best holidays we have ever had. WIll definitely want to return!

My Amazing Holiday

  • 5 of 5

Where do I begin. WIth the beautiful mountain views to the cool fresh swimming pool, this house has it all. I arrived there late at night so didn't see many of the surroundings or the pool area, however, when I woke up the next morning I flung open the shutter and was amazed by the rolling moutnains in the distance. Then my next surprise was the spacous, light environment of the downstairs area. With a TV, DVD player, PS2, more DVDs than I could wish for and enough books to fill a library there was far from enough to keep the whole family happy. I took a look around the outside area and came upon the secluded pool area, with a table and chairs to relax on and both relaxing and playful inflatables, and was pleased with what I saw. And just behind me was the volleyball/ beach tennis course which really appealed to me and my family. I must say all the things I've been describing all made the holiday increcdible, however I recommend to hire a car as there are many activities to enjoy and places to see outside of the stunning village. Which brings me on to my next point: the village and the locals. The village is so far behind with technology is exciting to see how they live their lives. Also, the locals may seem astonished to see such people in their village however a cheery bom dia/ boa tarde (good day/ good afternoon) will put a smile on their face and they may even try and talk to you. The area really is a beautiful place, unspoilt by any of the modern world. The best part of the village, and I'm sure everyone who visited will agree, is definitely Rui's 'bar'. WIth the same locals in there everynight you can count on them to cheer you up or if you're ready for some charades (its the only way of communication) to lighten the mood. If you're looking for a night off form the cooking there are so many restaurants in the local town of Tabua and if you haven't got a car, there is alway the handy cooking of Dawn. Dawn is an English lady who will prepare food, at her house, then serve it to you (at Sardinheiro), her cuisine is exquisite. If you still haven't taken enough culture and amazing views you can always take a walk up from the hosue and look over the small fields of crop being grown by locals. It really gives you a sense of central Portugal and how they work. If you'd like to get even further away, the city of Coimbra is always a nice day out and a good place for restaurants and cafes. I recommend this the all of you! It should be shared with everyone! :):)

Location

From the Owner

Myself and Phil and our respective families, wanted somewhere unspoilt, peaceful, and that was not spoilt by modern lifestyles, but it also had to be close enough to reach, so our families could enjoy it. We stumbled upon Sardinheiro almost by accident, and we both agreed that it was the perfect spot.

Facilities

From the Owner

The only way to experience the unique benefits is ......... To stand on the wooden decking at sunset and see the mountains on the horizon. To open the shutters in the morning to bright sunshine. To have a lazy breakfast on the front patio while listening to the chatter of the local farmers. To have an afternoon stroll to the lake and wonder at the tranquility of the setting. To spend an afternoon by the pool immersed in a good book. To enjoy the peaceful walks through the vineyards and terraces. To treat your guests to one of Rui's suckling pigs. (Rui is the next door farmer)
