Modern 5-6 bed Villa In Hossegor, quiet location near lake/golf course

Updated: 13-Oct-2016
Large new house, quiet location, near beach and golf courses from 1800 euros

In wooded district with direct access into the adjoining nature reserve, this modern villa resides in 1300 m2 of enclosed grounds. The property is a short walk to the lake with its sailing and beach facilities. The property is a large house suited to family reunions and has been fitted out to high standard throughout. On the ground floor : large kitchen, large living room (80m2), large sliding windows access onto the terraces with southern exposure (80m2), external shower, lounge seating area and barbecue area, master suite with en suite/dressing room, 4 further bedrooms and 2 toilets/shower room. On the first floor mezzanine is a further TV room/study. A garage is also provided with this property. Off street parking for 4 cars on driveway.

Activities: Surfing and body boarding are one of the main attractions to this area. The whole coast has superb breaks and often hosts rounds of the World Surf Tour and is home to the famous Ripcurl and Quicksilver Surf Pro. There are areas that are ideal for beginners and many surf schools catering for all ages. Children can try their hand at surfing or go body boarding in the specially supervised areas.

The walking in this area has something for everybody - easy walks from the front door, a well signed coastal pathway, day walks in the Pays Basque, multi day tours in the high mountains, to the famous coast-to-coast GR10. Serious walkers can try the GR8 national trail, connecting the Etang de Sanguinet near Biscarrosse and all subsequent lakes to the south, over 120km in all! We are keen walkers ourselves and have had many guests who have walked all over the region. We have all the walking guides to the region, which you are welcome to borrow.

Activities: The climbing in the Pyrénées is world class. Rock climbing, bouldering, mountaineering and ice climbing are all incredibly well catered for and without the crowds you find in many places. We are both climbers and it was one of the main reasons we moved here. We have often climbed with guests and can help you with choice of crag, conditions, routes, etc.

The rafting and canoeing in the surrounding area is also very good. There are a number of companies offering rafting trips throughout the year, for all age groups. The Olympic Canoe-Kayak French Team training centre is at Lourdes and a local canoeist is the current Olympic champion.

We are surrounded by fantastic countryside for horse riding. There are a number of riding schools locally and cater for all standards - from beginner all the way to Olympic standard.

For golfers, there's the nearby Seignosse Golf Club - one of Europe's finest, plus Hossegor Golf Club, another fine course. Both rated in the top 15 in France.

Activities: Cycling in France is the national sport, but in the adjacent Landes and Pays Basque country it is a particular passion, as those of you who follow the Tour de France will know! The are several hundred kilometres of gentle path right from the door step and for those a little more keen. There are several famous mountain stages of 'Le Tour' nearby. The mountain biking is also excellent with the national centre not far away.

The diving in the area is surprisingly good. There are a number of diving schools in Biarritz and Hendaye. You can do a 'try' dive or learn to dive. For the experienced divers there are some very interesting dive sites and they recognise PADI and BASC qualifications.

As you can see, there is a huge amount to do in this area. If you have any questions, then please don't hesitate to contact us. Hossegor Hossegor Hossegor Hossegor Hossegor Hossegor Capberton Capberton Capberton Capberton Capberton Biarritz Biarritz Biarritz Biarritz Biarritz Biarritz Biarritz.

Light and Spacious House Amidst Pine Forest

  • 5 of 5

We spent a great week in Hossegor with our two young children and friends.

The house is well-equipped and comfortable with plenty of outdoor and indoor

communal space. I love the living area with huge windows on both sides, it

feels as if you are outside whilst you are inside. It even has a children's

play house, so we didn't feel we had to rush out in the mornings to distract

the children because they were playing happily whilst we sat around. Saying

that, there is plenty to do nearby, I ran around the lake and through quiet

tracks in the pine forests. We also really enjoyed paddle boarding on the

lake, and trips to the beach. There are some great ice-cream shops in

Hossegor and good restaurants nearby.

Lovely house in the woods

  • 5 of 5

We stayed with two other families in this lovely house on the edge of the pine forest. There was a huge amount of space for us all and plenty of garden for the kids to run around in. We spent a lot of our time on the beaches, the closest of which is only a few minutes drive away. It was also a short bike ride or drive to the nearby bars and restaurants. One of the nicest things was the feeling of waking up in the forest every morning. All in all a great place to stay.

This is an amazing place to stay in with a beautiful veranda all the way round the house where one can lie in hammocks or sit and read whilst listening to the birds tweeting. The kitchen and living room are great for entertaining and there is plenty to keep the children busy in the garden. We has a very peaceful time with friends and children, good food and wine galore. Also great local surfing and beaches and restaurants......I look forward to visiting again.

We have stayed at this property a few times as we find it conveniently located for getting out and exploring the area. Property is fantastic for big groups and sociable layout works well for families with big and small kids. No hesitation in recommending property.

Beautiful Villa

  • 5 of 5

The villa is beautifully decorated and very well equipped for a comfortable stay. We had up to 8 people and 2 babies staying and we all managed to live together in harmony! The villa is light and airy with a lovely outdoor space with ample seating. The setting of the villa is lovely as it is right in the forest. You definitely need a car to get to the nearest town and beaches as they are too far to walk. Although this makes for a tranquil and private setting when using the villa.

Surfing beaches of Capbretton and Hossegor about 2 minutes drive and the wonderful Spanish city of San Sebastian only 30 minutes. We all thoroughly enjoyed our vacation, Chris and Anna (the owners) were so thoughtful and caring they communicated well to all our queries, all apologies to them for leaving it so long to write this review but I wish them the very best with the rental of this wonderful Villa in the future.

Quoted from Michelin 'The Green Guide - Atlantic Coast' - 'Hossegor is a pleasant seaside resort bordered by the Boudigau Canal, which separates the town from neighbouring Capbreton. Thanks to the efforts of successive generations of local architects, writers and painters...this choice natural site wooded with pines, cork-oak and arbutus has been carefully developed into a holiday centre complete with parks, gardens, hotels, a casino and a golf course'

Our Favourites:

• A round of golf at two of France's best courses (Top 15)

• An afternoon in the surf - bliss

• A lazy afternoon sailing on the lagoon Lac d'Hossegor

• Bike rides in the pine forests with the kids

• Re-visiting our youth at a sea-front night spot such as Cream Café

• People gazing at the Café de Paris

• A good sprinkling of smart shops, cafés and a casino to enjoy.
