Extended terraced cottage offering a family base on East Coast in Wicklow Town

Updated: 21-Oct-2016
Child friendly family base for 6 with easy access to Dublin & Wicklow & Wexford

The Little Green House is an extended centrally heated terraced cottage equipped with fibre Wi-Fi and sleeping 6 (+baby) in three bedrooms and set up as a warm, comfortable and fully equipped base for exploring Dublin, and the Counties of Wicklow and Wexford all the year round.

Despite its compact frontage, the front door opens onto a light and spacious open plan ground floor, providing a relaxing seating area with sofa and chairs facing an open gas fire and a television with satellite and DVD . Additional chairs are provided at the other end, where prints of Wicklow landscapes by a local artist, Stanley Pettigrew, are displayed.

This leads through to the dining area set within an 'L' shaped kitchen fitted out with full sized equipment including cooker, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and microwave and all the necessary utensils, crockery and cutlery to provide for the preparation and cooking of full meals for our guests and their visitors.

The ground floor is completed by a toilet and shower room beside the stairs leading to the upper floor, which comprises one double bedroom, facing the garden and two twin bedrooms facing the street and the family bathroom, incorporating a bath with shower over.

The back door from the kitchen opens onto the fenced patio with garden furniture in the seating area. Access through a gate leads down the terraced garden, planted with shrubs and surrounded by hedges for greater privacy with an off street parking space accessed from the road behind.

The cottage is located on the edge of the old part of Wicklow town, which provides all the resources of a country town, combined with easy access from Dublin, the airport and the counties of Wicklow and Wexford using road, rail and bus. An express bus 133 (hourly service) connects Dublin airport, Dublin city and places en route directly to within 50m of the front door.

Two Fabulous Weeks in a Perfect Holiday Location

  • 5 of 5

We just arrived back after spending two weeks at the wonderful „Little Green House“ in Wicklow. The Cottage was spacious, spotless clean, cosy and very welcoming, whereby Mary (the friendly and warmhearted keyholder) had ensured that everything was to our complete satisfaction. The Cottage at large and especially the kitchen is equipped with everything (and even more) we needed.

Wicklow Town was also very nice and friendly and provided to all our needs – especially the staff at the Tourist Office is very kind and helpful. The coastline to the south is spectacular, don’t miss the cliffwalk, you will probably be able to spot grey seals in the sea. We also had a wonderful time exploring the Wicklow Mountains, for which this place is an ideal location.

We had a wonderful holiday and would like to recommend this cottage to anyone.

Many thanks

Anouk, Diana and Peter

Owner's Response: We are very pleased that these three share our enthusiasm for the countryside and wildlife of Wicklow and underline using the cottage as a base for exploring this area of Ireland. They also compliment the attention given to our guests by our keyholder Mary and the resources provided in the cottage.,

more than a holiday home

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is more like a home from home, it had everything anyone needs and more, the children were happy that it had WiFi to enable them access to their favorites on YouTube, only thing lacking is a tumble drier for rainy days.

It is in a great area for exploring the countryside and a regular bus service into Dublin one way and Arklow the other. I'd definitely stay here again.

Owner's Response: We are very pleased that our guests found our cottage so very appropriate for what they were looking, and had such a wonderful holiday. They have highlighted the ease of access to Dublin and Arklow by bus, and the countryside to be explored around Wicklow. We note the comment about the tumble dryer and will relook at providing one in our cottage, whilst fibre based Wi-Fi is provided for our guests use.

Nice place

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay in the Little Green House. It had everything we needed including a bus stop within 50'. Only suggestion would be additional operating instructions for things like the gas fireplace, TV and showers.

Owner's Response: We are very pleased that Steve and his party enjoyed our cottage and we note the comment about more instructions. Steve used the bus stop to access the express buses to Dublin and the airport. so whilst we recommend a car, some of our guests use the buses to come from the airport or to access Wicklow and beyond.

Little Green House

  • 4 of 5

The house was exactly as described. Well equipped, tidy & clean. Location convenient, near all amenities & not far from motorway. Hiccups with TV, complicated & no sports channels-could not access RTE2 for rugby etc. If WiFi was available it would make a big difference re communicating, finding info etc. As having only foreign mobiles it becomes expensive without this service.

We enjoyed our stay & found the house comfortable, would return & would recommend it to other visitors.

Owner's Response: We are very pleased that our guests found our property as described and had a very good holiday and would recommend it to others. The question of sourcing the Irish TV channels, which are not on satellite and require special receivers has yet to be resolved.

Little Green House

  • 4 of 5

Initial surprise at how roomy the "Little" Green House was, Very well laid out for a family holiday and ideal for a small dog as the garden is totally secure.

Near to town and ideally situated to enjoy Wicklow and area.

Would definitely recommend this cottage as we felt very welcome and satisfied with our choice to stay here.
