Luxury self-catering apartment with wifi in the Dorsoduro

A south-facing 100 sq/mtrs canal side apartment on the Dorsoduro, which is one of the quietest and most sought-after areas of Venice. The apartment lies 2 minutes from the delightful Zattere and 1 minute from charming Campo Santa Margherita. It is close to all the major sights, but away from the main tourist traps, making a stay here restful even in the busiest months. The whole interior has recently been restored (2007). Rooms are bright and spacious and most have moulded plaster ceilings with old Murano chandeliers; floors are of travertine limestone, carrara marble or ceramic sandstone. 2 of the 3 bedrooms look out over the canal and the living room has a very large comfortable sofa bed. The apartment has a separate well-equipped kitchen. Other features include wi-fi internet, flat-screen TV, DVD player and stereo, film library and a comprehensive selection of Venetian-themed books. The apartment is beautifully furnished throughout with a mixture of contemporary and antique styles.

Fantastic Venetian Apartment

Six twenty-something women stayed in the apartment for a weekend (Fri-Mon) and can't rate it highly enough! The apartment is in a great location. It was easy to get to from the bus station where you arrive from the airport. The apartment was decorated just as the pictures. A really homey quirky place with everything you need. We especially enjoyed the hifi speaker system which you can just plug a phone/iPad into and get Spotify through the wifi. The Kitchen and Bathroom are both fairly modern and the rest of the house is more traditionally decorated. It's a really quiet neighbourhood, you can just hear church bells and the hum of boats as they pass by. The apartment is close to water bus stops and we got the boat across to the Sky Bar at the Hilton one night which is a 10min walk around the corner. Lots of really nice restaurants and bars nearby which are much cheaper than the more touristy St Marc's Sq. There's towels and hairdryers there, extra pilllows and blankets if you're cold - although the heating system seems great and always hot water. It's a really great apartment with lots of room and we never felt cramped even though there was 6 adults. Have told lots of people about it already and will hopefully be back one day! Thanks David!

Quiet, central location, good amenities, great to see gondolas outside your window.

All main sites walkable, close to various water bus stops. Lovely reasonable restaurants at Zattere, to watch the sunset. Owner very helpful and lots of useful information in the apartment.

Amazing Venice Flat

We spent a week with our family of 6 (4 kids age 10-18). The property was great. It sits right on the canal and you can watch gondolas go by regularly. It is also very quiet and private. The flat was clean, comfortable, and every thing was in working order. David has stocked it with everything you might need down to post cards and spare light bulbs. He has a dvd collection that was great for our kids. There are excellent restaurants just a few steps away and a Conad grocery store just a 5 minute walk away. We liked to go to the Rialto fish market in the morning to get fish to cook for supper. The kitchen was very functional and had many spices. We would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend it.

Excellent apartment and location!

Wonderful apartment in a perfect, quiet part of Venice. Location is non-touristy and close to lots of restaurants and shopping. A canal runs right outside the apartment - we enjoyed sitting in the courtyard and watching gondolas go by. Courtyard is very private and quiet. One suggestion is to update the wifi router (we had to reset the wifi several times). Overall, a great apartment that we highly recommend!

Character apartment in lovely part of Venice

The apartment was just as we hoped it would be. On a previous trip we had decided this was the best area to stay for us. It was quiet and in an area where locals lived but within easy reach of the centre. For me, one of the great things about Venice is how easy it to leave the crowds behind. It's all lovely so why shuffle along with the crowds between the Rialto bridge and St Marks? It is a truly amazing place, no cars, not even any bikes, just people and boats (and the odd sack trolley). Having 3 rooms with windows onto the canal was a treat, one night we had a singing gondola man go by. The bedrooms are comfortable and the bathroom good also. My wife likes to cook and there was plenty of all the right equipment for the job and lots of cook books to inspire. Talking of books, the apartment is full of them, I read lots on Venetian history. The stereo is the best I've encountered on similar holidays and hooks up to your ipod. This time we explored further afield to some outlying island. We'll be back for a third week in a few years to explore more of the art work that we didn't get time to see. Thanks David for everything. PS The apartment is also good value.

Immediately outside the apartment is the church of San Sebastiano, whose celebrated interior was the 24-year-long project of local artist Veronese. Close by you'll also find the Academia and Guggenheim galleries, the Frari, the Scuola Grande di San Rocco and the Scuola Grande dei Carmini. The famous Ca' Rezzonico (including its useful vaporetto and traghetto stops) on the Grand Canal is a 2 minute walk away. 20 minutes on foot will take you to both San Marco and the Rialto.
