New very private and quiet 2 bed mid-size apartment at top of La herradura village. Stunning views over mountains, bay and village. Lounge with dining area and sofa bed to sleep extra 2. Wood burning stove. 2 double bedrooms. 1 fully tiled bathroom with shower/bath/bidet. Fully fitted modern kitchen. Overhead fans and electric radiators in each room. Terrace from lounge overlooks mountain view. Spiral staircase leads to very large private top terrace with stunning views over bay, mountains and village. Lift to first floor apartment. Free parking outside in square. 8 minutes drive down one way street to beach/village. Also accessible by steep village steps for the young and hardy - not for older clients. Children's park by roadside parking. Suit sunbathers and shade lovers alike as top terrace has sun all day long and lounge terrace gets sun in mid-afternoon. Patio table/chairs/sun chairs. La Herradura is a quiet horseshoe bay nestled between majestic mountains and towns of Nerja and Almunecar. Nerja is a very lively beautiful tourist town and Almunecar a popular Spanish beach resort. La Herradura has a horseshoe pebble beach with chiringuitos for long leisurely meals. On the back of the promenade are a host of inexpensive restaurants and bars. Not known to be a nightlife resort but very popular with Spanish from Granada at weekends. Daily vegetable, bread and fish market. 1 hours drive from ski resort in Sierra Nevada. 8 minutes drive to Marina del Este - a small sailing port with restaurants and alternative beach (for when it is windy in LH). 15 mins drive from mountain village of Frigliana. Weekly markets in Nerja & Almunecar. Water in the Med is fresh and cold in all seasons. Local restaurants specialise in fresh fish. Superb for deep sea diving, mountain trekking, wind-surfing, canoeing, para-gliding and sailing. Paradise for chilling out.

The mountains are spectacular and are especially popular in the mild winter months for hikers from all over Europe. A superb base for a walking/hiking holiday in the off season months. Sking is excellent in the Sierra Nevada mountains - now with the new road barely 50 minutes drive from La Herradura.

If you would like to stay at the top of an old village among the true villagers this is for you. Although the actual apartment is very chic and quiet inside it is situated at the very top of the village with stunning views from the rooftop private terrace. You can look out at the mountains, bay and over the rooftops of the village below.

A beautiful, clean and comfortable apartment

We had a wonderful time at this well equipped, spacious and spotlessly clean , comfortable apartment. The top terrace is a stunning space to totally relax with fabulous sea views. The bottom terrace is great for hot days to have breakfast with mountain views. The description of the apartment and location is totally accurate. Although some streets are steep in terms access, you get used to the walk to the beach and back! Linda and Pat could not have been more helpful as hosts. Highly recommended. Alfredo and Karen

Great terrace

The appartment of Linda Walsh is nice, the terrace is magnificent. La Herradura is a nice beach village with only Spanish tourists. Tips for bars and restaurants given by Linda are usefull. Thanks.

Return visit

3rd visit to this property, starting to feel like home from home. Very well equipped & no trick photography on the website to give a false impression - what you see is exactly what you get. The apartment is well maintained and spotlessly clean - everything you want when away from home. The roof terrace is great for relaxing and the downstairs terrace is shaded and perfect for eating when it is very hot.

However to give some balance, this is not on an urbanisation, it is in a true village with Spanish neighbours nearby going about their normal life but not always quietly, (this could bother some people but not us). Location is at the top of the village with a 10 minute walk to the town but could be considerably longer on the way back up dependent on consumption of lunch/dinner...... Overall we would happily recommend this rental to anyone.

Great apartment!

We enjoyed our X-mas holidays in this nice, complete and homey apartment at the top of the village! The wonderful weather conditions made it possible to enjoy the big private terrace on top of the apartment. The road down to the village was quite steep, but how nice to walk through the streets of this authentic place

Beautiful flat with a great view

We very much enjoyed our stay in the apartment in April 2011.

The apartment was nice,very clean and comfortable and very well equipped as can be seen on the fotos. The sunroof was great. Only very small minus: the sky-tv has english channels only and no spanish or other channels.

The apartment is on top of the hill so that a car is needed. There is a large choice of shops and restaurants in La Herradura.

We hope to stay in the apartment again and will recommend it to our friends.

Great apartment

The apartment is really good, at the top of La Herradura, with good restaurants and awesome beach. The property was really clean and confortable, with great terrace on the top, grill and view of the sea.

The owner was kind and gave us good tips.

We offer very inexpensive long stay rentals in the winter. For example a 2 month stay would be €750 per month including electricity, water, rubbish collection, bedlinen, towels etc. Perfect for a small family or couple to escape the harsh Northern winters. Electric radiators in every room and a wood burning stove in the lounge. Apartment is very easy to heat and gets full sun on the upstairs terrace from sunrise to sunset. We can arrange weekly cleaning service if required at reasonable rates.

  • Apartment has lift which makes it easy for older clients but there is a spiral staircase to upper terrace which might make it difficult for clients with mobility problems. Lower covered terrace very accessible and easy access to apartment on the level. For winter rentals there are electric radiators in all rooms and a tiled stove which makes the lounge very cosy. For summer there are overhead fans in all rooms and as the apartment is located at the top of the village there is a good breeze. Fresh bed linen and bath/beach towels are included.They are cleaned before and after rentals. If desired a cleaning service any time during your stay is available upon request. Typical charge for full clean is £50. Hair-dryer available. Traveling cot available. High chair on request. Smokers are kindly asked to use top terrace. Barbecue is on top terrace. Lounge has large sliding doors leading to lower balcony which is superb for all outdoor eating with fabulous mountain views.
