Large 4 bedroom villa surrounded by gardens that have been landscaped beautifully. The villa has a perimeter wall, electric gate for extra privacy and a covered parking area for cars. At the end of the garden there is a covered area with a gas BBQ and table tennis. The villa has indoor and outdoor dining areas; there is a private pool that is well maintained and checked on a regular basis. Next to the pool there is a beautiful terraced area with plenty of sun loungers for everyone to relax and enjoy their holiday. There are also various activities available to play in the garden including badminton. Large kitchen fully stocked. All rooms are large and fully furnished; all have cupboard and wardrobe space for storage of personal belongings. The house has two TV's one in the living room. There is a small TV upstairs with a DVD player attached. The Villa also has WIFI which is free for guests to use so they can keep in touch. The villa is perfect if all you want to do is stay and sunbathe by the pool as it is well equipped with plenty of sun lounges where you can either lie out in the sun or in the cool of the beautiful and large awnings which come out from the house. The house is also perfectly located for those who want to adventure out to explore all the local towns, amusements, beaches and is also only 45 minutes from Gibraltar. We also offer the added security of access to a safe to further to protect your valuables.

For relaxation you don’t need to even leave the villa! But if you want to go somewhere the closest beach is 20 mins walk. The best beach close to the house would be Sunbeach which is a short 5 minutes drive down the road to a small town called Cancelada. I would recommend this beach as it is largely unknown so you escape a lot of the crowds in peak time. If you have time it is nice to drive up along the coast road and explore all the different beaches, all very different with some beautiful enclosed beaches as well. The beaches all along the coast have small beach bars and restaurants dispersed among them, a beautiful place to spend a day or an evening enjoying a cold beer or a glass of wine and a meal. We also have a large number of inflatable’s that are good fun on the pool or in the sea. All in all the slow pace of Spanish lifestyle will make going home a very difficult task!

Talking about entertaining for you chef's the Villa has a beautiful open plan kitchen which is fully equipped with everything you might require. The area is full of supermarkets which are wonderfully stocked with fresh fruits and fish so you can really get into the Mediterranean cuisine if you wish.

Entertainment and places of interest: 10 min drive from the villa is the large town of Marbella, a wonderful traditional town where in the old town they have worked hard to keep the town’s original feel. A perfect place to wonder around in and stop for tapas or take a walk along the promenade. get lost in the alleys an stumble upon hidden squares with little Spanish bars and restaurants. Marbella is a true gem that you can never get bored of visiting for a true Spanish experience!

The bustling party town of Puerto Banus (playground for the rich and famous) is 5 mins drive away. Here they have numerous upmarket restaurants. If you want to party there is an almost never ending choice of bars along the strips and also various clubs to select from. Puerto Banus attracts world class DJ's so if you like that type of music it would be worth checking out if there were any upcoming events. Puerto Banus also offers a large selection of boutique shops that you could easy max your credit card at!

More places of interest: The villa is located in the Spanish region of Andalucía, an area with a rich cultural heritage and also spectacular landscapes. Andalucía has had a lot of Moorish influence from the Arabic invaders, this has resulted in some of the most spectacular architecture and art. One of the most famous would be the Alhambra in Granada 3hrs from the house. A castle filled with Moorish art incorporated into the building. A definite must for culture enthusiasts. There are many other towns including the towns of Benahavis and Istan which are closer, both boast wonderful mountain views and walks as well as charming Spanish restaurants. If you fancy yourself for as a bit of an adventurer I would highly recommend climbing la concha (directly behind Marbella) you can drive half way and then it is a 5 hr walk up and down. At the top you have an amazing view of the coasts on both sides of the Mediterranean an experience you will cherish forever.

Although my personal recommendation would be exploring the beaches along the coast and finding perfect hidden beaches, or going and exploring the rivers that go up into the mountains and discovering hidden rock pools. Marbella perimeter of mountains and sea makes it a perfect combination between spanish town and then due to the mountains development can only go so far!

For those looking to exhaust their kids and get some exercise during the hols nearby is an excellent tennis club which offers tennis lessons to all abilities and also regular mix ins where anyone can drop in. Great opportunity to play some tennis meet new people and share a cold beer and some tapas.

Nearby there are also many excellent riding stables which will happily offer riding lessons to those on holiday, again if this is of interest let us know.

We have a key holder based nearby that can help you plan your holiday before you arrive and is there to answer any questions you have during your stay. If you have any special requirements or interests let her know once you have paid your deposit and she will try to help. When you arrive she will also show you around the Villa and the various features to make sure you get the most from your holiday.

If you require baby cots please also advise us when you book.

The Villa also has a gardener who visits most days and looks after the garden and the pool to make sure it is in perfect condition for your holiday. The garden has an automatic irrigation system which works at night so as not to disturb you, please make sure towels and clothes are not left out on the grass once you go to bed.

About James Hartland

We purchased this lovely house in 2006 when we moved to Spain to live and had three wonderful years enjoying the Costa del Sol before work commitments moved us. Our Children loved the house and the area and we still regularly visit during the off season to enjoy this wonderful part of the world and catch up with old friends.

Having worked in landscape gardening in the Middle East I took particular pleasure in designing and building the garden to make it an ideal area to unwind and relax during those hot summer days.

The experience of living and going to school here enabled the kids to learn a new language and culture plus spend a lot of time outdoors playing tennis and riding. In the winter we used to love going up to the Sierra Nevada for skiing and also visited the wonderful Al Hambra in Granada a number of times.

The slow pace of life and weather were the best thing about our time there and we used to love cycling into Marbella and Puerto Banus and stopping to swim in the sea and have a cold drink along the way.

This area will always be an area we will always return to as a family due to the many happy memories and good friends we made.

Why James Hartland chose Guadalmina

We had friends who moved to this area of Spain and we used to visit regularly, with a few bad summers that we had received in the UK we eventually made our mind up to buy in Spain. The villa now is beautiful and complete and it is our favourite place to go and spend time on holiday as a family. We created this villa and the gardens and it is a massive part of our family, it was our family home from 2006 to the end of 2009. we only hope that it will provide you, your friends and family with as many joys as it has provided us.

We also love all the activities available in the area and the fabulous restaurants and beaches which are all within a short distance.

The tranquility of the property and the privacy is also a major plus and in the summer there is nothing better than just chilling around the pool with some good food and a cold drink and family and friends.

We also love the fact that we can walk to the shops to have a haircut, find a bar or restaurant plus getting everything we need from the local supermarket and other shops. The coffee shop at the end of the road is also a great place to hang out and watch the world go by or catch up with friends.

And added bonus is the Saturday market which is literally only 100 yards outside the house and offers a great selection of local produce and knick knacks.

What makes this villa unique

It is the little touches that really make this villa special and having lived in the Villa we went to great trouble to make it an ideal place to relax and unwind. Since we left we have employed a full time gardener who also maintains the pool and house. The Villa has continued to improve since we left as the gardens mature and we invest further into the property so we can enjoy our visits back 'home' and our guests can also benefit.

Even when the Villa is not being used the caretaker also regularly visits and makes sure that any items in the house which are chipped/broken or looking worn are replaced. We also prepare the Villa before each guest comes and offer a small welcoming pack to help make your stay more special and put you in the right spirits!

When we first bought the villa and its gardens were completely different! Almost everything was changed about the villa and most of it we did ourselves. (apart from some of the major construction!!) living in the villa and renovating it as we were there was what helped us to create our ideal place. Also being in spain the weather helped us get over some obstacles like when we had the kitchen and living rooms renovated we had to cook outside for 2 months! could be catastrophic in the UK but luckily spanish weather is very forgiving!. All in all what I think makes our villa special is that it was actually our home and we still consider it this way. All of the touches and modifications that were made to the villa and to the gardens were to create a more positive and fun environment for our family. we only hope that you can enjoy it as much as we do!

We have enjoyed our stay in this lovely villa. We have visited around costa del sol; estepona, benelmadina, marbella, puerto banus, fuengirola, mijas and ronda.

In Estepona is the very best beach, comfortable and quiet. Benalmadina has got nice amusement park tivoli world, la canada and miramar are good places for people who love to shop. The aqua park mijas is a small but cozy place, especially for families with kids. we also visited the bar down the hill and watched the game of spain vs france, the atmosphere was amazing!!

the villas yard was in good use. we played badminton a lot. we often bbq'd and ate outside. All in all our stay here was successful and perhaps we will meed again.

  • The villa has 4 spacious bedrooms, 3 are upstairs and 1 is downstairs. The master bedroom has a king sized bed and access to an upstairs patio area with views of the sea and on a clear day views across the Mediterranean all the way to the atlas mountains in Africa! The two other bedrooms are of similar sizes, plenty of space in both; one with a large double bed with access to the patio and the other with two twin beds with a view out onto the fountain. The downstairs bedroom has a double bed along with an en suite bathroom. This bedroom also has direct access to the pool and downstairs patio, this bedroom also houses the safe. The bedrooms all have air-conditioning/heating units for your comfort as well as electric blinds to stop the sunlight in the morning so you can enjoy that well deserved lie in on your holiday! If you are still not happy with your bedrooms... there is always the hammock at the end of the garden between two olive trees, my favourite spot.

The best features of the house would be the ones that facilitate the enjoyment of the Spanish weather! The house has two large patios, upstairs has views out onto the sea and downstairs has an outdoor dining area. There is also a terracotta tiled area next to the pool with 8 sun beds for relaxing. There is an option of setting up a badminton court in the garden with all the equipment provided, the pool has a deep and a shallow end. There is a covered BBQ area with gas BBQ perfect for relaxing with a beer. The covered area also houses a table tennis table with all extra equipment provided. Or you could just relax out on the grass and enjoy the sun and the gardens. If the sun gets too much for you then inside there are 2 TVs and a DVD player and DVDs. We also have a large variety of board games and books for your leisure. The villa also comes with WIFI but let us know if you require this. If required we have a trusted nanny/babysitter for €15 per hour who can also provide extra cleaning.

Wonderful time

My family & I had a wonderful time in this villa as everything we need is here and the sorrounding areas. we have spent most of our time at the villa just relaxing around the pool sunbathing and having some good cooked meals at the BBQ. During evenings if we go out we just walk to the restaurants only 4 mins walk. I enjoyed the saturday market which is just almost outside the gate.

Huset var som forventet efter beskrivelse og billeder. Vi havde en dejlig uge og nød poolen og

den skønne have. Vi syntes dog at man godt kunne have forventet 8 ens drikke og vinglas.

Men ikke kritik af huset som sådan, vi kan varmt anbefale huset og området til andre.

Wonderful long weekend in fabulous villa....

The villa was just as advertised but even better!! It was very clean and the gardens and the pool area are absolutely fabulous... Also lovely to have the pool cleaned almost daily!! The owner James and his housekeeper Melissa are extremely accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. We would definitely recommend the villa to friends and family and because we had such a great experience will be hoping to return next year (if not sooner)... The villa is in a very good situation as you have local restaurants that you can walk to and a local supermarket and bakery which sells wonderful fresh bread and croissants for breakfast. We did hire a car but it is not really needed if you are happy to take taxis to and from the airport. There is also a Saturday morning market 100 yards away which sells fresh fruit and vegetables and clothes and handbags...

All in all a great weekend break...

What a wonderful holiday

When we arrived at Villa Domchrista we immediately realised that we had made a fantastic decision to spend our 2016 summer holiday there. The pool provided many hours of fun and diving competitions! My niece learnt to swim without armbands and has progressed to diving and bombing to expert levels! Great memories!

The shutters on the windows allowed our one year old to have plenty of quality sleep. The villa was equipped with everything we needed however could do with some better bbq's tongs. Many happy hours were had sipping drinks and chatting around the outside table. The location of the villa was great given our trips out to the local towns. I would happily return to the villa again.

The only thing that was a slight inconvenience was the ants that decided to share the kitchen and living room with us. However a insect spray was effective at limiting the ants! This is by no means a negative just a slight issue! Thank you for a fantastic thirteen days!

Lovely property, well situated and fully equipped with everything that you could need. We especially enjoyed being outside in the garden, barbequing, improving our table tennis skills, and making use of the swimming pool. We cannot wait to go back!

Myself and 7 friends stayed for a long weekend to celebrate my 40th birthday.

The villa is lovely - great size rooms, very clean and well equipped. The garden and pool area is excellent and maintained to a high standard.

Just a short walk down the hill to some shops etc and also a taxi rank. We went into Puerto Banus each evening which costs €15 each way.

I would definitely recommend staying here. James and Melissa were both really helpful during the booking and the stay. I really couldn't have wished for a better way to celebrate my 40th!!

The villa is in a very central location on the Costa del Sol, 5 min walk from restaurants, shops, supermarkets, bus stop and taxi stand. The beach is only 20 min walk from the villa, along the beach there are a number of different beach bars called chiringitoes. A major attraction would be the scenic mountain town of Benahavis just 10 min up the road, sporting stunning vistas, walks and Spanish tapas bars. The towns of Marbella and Estepona are both equidistant at 10 min drive to each; both feature beautiful ports and walks along the promenade along with a multitude of bars and restaurants for you to take your pick! If shopping and partying is what you are looking for the famous Puerto Banus is a 5 min drive. Lined with boutique shops and designer bars and clubs this town does not sleep. Apart from the sun and beach the Costa del Sol is also famous for its golf. The villa is situated directly in the heart of golfing territory with a multitude of different courses to choose from. The villa is also situated in a quiet residential area and offers excellent privacy and has its own beautifully kept garden & private pool.

Other Activities: Kite Surfing, Aqua Parks, Open Safari, Quad bikings, walking, bird watching, plus easy to hire bikes to cycle down the beautiful promenades of Marbella & Puerto Banus. This is truly a holiday destination that offers everything and we have flyers of many of these activities in the house.

Golf: Walking or driving from the villa ATALAYA GOLF & Club, which has come to be known as the 'Golfers' Paradise', can offer many opportunities to play your favourite sport in the perfect setting. A driving range and a practice putting green. general headquarters of the Professionals Golfers´Association of Europe (PGAE) two magnificent 18-hole courses. lessons available for all ages. LOS FLAMINGOS GOLF (5 mins drive) set in beautiful natural surroundings, on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea,the most advanced facilities and a personalised service that allows you to enjoy and appreciate every little detail. Flamingos Golf Club has already attained well-deserved international renown for the high level of quality it offers and for having been, for three consecutive years, the venue for the European Senior´ Final. The club currently has two courses, 'Flamingos Golf', and the recently inaugurated 'Gran Flamingo Golf Club'. Ski: Sierra Nevada is only 2 & half hour drive close to Granada. The ski runs open from first week December depends on the snow until end of Aoril. Also there's a bus that can take a group of skiers to the ski resort and organise the ski lesson before you get there. sun or snow, the Sierra Nevada is the place to take a walk on the wild side. Europe’s second highest mountain range after the Alps, the Sierra Nevada is home to wild, rugged mountains, fertile valleys and forests of oak and chestnut. Snowboarders are equally welcome and will find Sierra Nevada a Mecca for what it has to offer them. Whether sweeping down the wide runs or throwing yourselves about on the jumps and half-pipes of the snowboard park, With fresh snow falls you will find endless amounts of off-piste in which to practice your powder-riding techniques. Regular competitions are held throughout the season both on a National and International level.

Due to the current situation now with Homeaway I only accept direct bookings and DO NOT ACCEPT payment through HomeAway. I require a 30% deposit to confirm bookings and then full rent payment to be paid 45 days before arrival. Extra costs are €150 for the cleaning of the villa and then €150 damage deposit to be returned provided everything is okay 7 days after your stay has ended. Rent includes water & electric bills, linens, beach/bath towels. Swimming pool is well maintained. Gardens are also regularly maintained.
The Villa is not heated in the Winter so if staying between December & early March bring warm clothes. The Villa has a fire place and we can arrange logs if you want to have a fire in the evening. [Logs not included in the price]
