Outdoor lovers will especially enjoy the proximity to Blue Ridge Parkway and New River. You might enjoy hiking, camping, horseback riding and photography along hundreds of miles of well-marked trails. Or perhaps bring (or rent) a rod and reel to try your hand at catching some delicious fresh trout from a rippling mountain stream and cooking it for dinner. If you like being on and in the water, you can canoe, kayak, or float down the historic New River for a fun-filled two hours or an entire day. Bicyclists will find plenty of routes to take; one of the most popular is the nine-mile riverside route that also follows the old railroad tracks between Todd and Fleetwood just steps away from the cabin.
If you’ve got more of a downtown inclination, be sure to check out the many fine and unique shops, boutiques, galleries, coffee shops and restaurants that bring central West Jefferson alive each and every day. Check out the weekly Farmers Market, monthly Art Stroll, and quarterly performances done by the local Ashe County Little Theatre. From Spring through the Fall seasons, weekends are filled with a variety of music, craft and BBQ food festivals.
With three bedrooms and two full baths, the cabin can nicely accommodate six people. Cook your meals in a fully-equipped kitchen or on the charcoal grill, and enjoy the living area complete with wood burning fireplace. Modernists will appreciate the internet TV service, DVD player and movie library, and high-speed Internet.
After all your adventures downtown and out in the wilds of the High Country, you’ll surely appreciate relaxing by the river or setting on the rocking chair covered front porch of the Laurel Ridge Log Cabin and its romantic old mountain charm. You’ll find everything you need just waiting for you to arrive and settle in.

Fabulous Fall Weekend in Fleetwood
The setting of the cabin surrounded by trees with leaves of every color was breath taking. The cabin was beautiful, comfortable and so clean. It had a well equipped kitchen and we also enjoyed the outside grill and fabulous firepit. I would stay here again and again.

We currently live in Cary, NC and love the convenience of traveling to the Boone area to spend time at our cabin. I grew up in PA and cherish the memories of countless trips to the Pocono mountains during my childhood. I've always dreamed of recreating these memories for my family and we are blessed to be able to do this with our beloved Laurel Ridge Cabin.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with this cabin within seconds of seeing it for the first time. It is everything that we ever dreamed of. Beautiful rustic hand-hewn logs warm the inner space of the cabin and provide a fragrant smell of pine. We love the privacy that our location provides - It is completely surrounded by dense rhododendron and trees on a private 4 acre lot and sits perched above the New River.
I am an avid fly-fisherman and I wanted proximity to the river and I enjoy fishing on the water every chance that I get.
We also wanted a property that would enable many activities. We can enjoy walking or biking to the river and rafting, tubing and kayaking in the summer. We also love the proximity to the Todd Railroad Grade road, which is known as one of the best walking/biking routes in NC.
Coming from the Raleigh direction, our location is prime and saves significant time due to its location (east of Boone); which means quicker in and quicker out. Yet - we are very close to Boone/Blowing Rock for easy trips and we go into town every time we are up.
Of course we also love the close access to the incredible Blue Ridge Parkway and the easy drive to ski areas.

What makes this property unique

When you stay in Laurel Ridge, you will be able to escape away from it all. Our 4 acres and wooded surroundings provide you with great privacy. Unlike the majority of cabins, ours is an authentic hand-hewn cabin which provides you with an incredible rustic feel that is very hard to find and replicate.
Our cabin is tastefully decorated with handmade rustic furniture from a renowned craftsman, which also adds to the unique charm of Laurel Ridge Cabin.
