An oasis in the heart of Venice

Overview

Property

Updated: 03-Nov-2016
Only minutes from the Grand Canal, Rialto & St Marks

Our flat in Ca’ Amadi is just minutes from the vaporetto stop at Rialto (lines 1 & 2), a short journey down the Grand Canal from the main arrival points of Piazzale Roma and the Ferrovia (railway station). A truly magical way in which to arrive!

Ca'Amadi overlooks a very quiet and private Corte (with its 15th century well), yet is only minutes from the bustling Rialto Bridge and the Market. St Mark’s square (San Marco) is about 10 easy minutes away on foot.

The apartment sleeps 2 - 4 adults comfortably (with an extra sofa bed in the living area), and is available throughout the year for a minimum of 3 nights. It is an ideal base for weekend or short breaks.

Although popular throughout the year, we particularly recommend visits in the quieter months of February, March and November.

“In the winter, Venice is like an abandoned theatre. The play is finished, but the echoes remain”.

Ca'Amadi lies on the edge of the sestiere (district) of Cannaregio, a local residential area and a true ‘Venetian’s Venice’, with a wealth of food and artisan shops, bars and restaurants.

Vaporetti for the outlying Islands of Murano, Burano and Torcello leave from the Fondamente Nuove, again a short walk away.

Close by, across the Rialto Bridge are the spectacular daily fish and vegetable markets.

..... for exploring Venice. Set in quiet courtyard, but only a little off the beaten track; it is beautifully furnished and fitted out. Everyone has been so helpful and friendly.

Excellent flat in a central location.

  • 5 of 5

We were met from the water bus by a representative who was fantastic and provided us with lots of information in the short walk to the flat which helped us plan and make the most of our 3 days.

The flat was in a perfect location and we walked round the majority of the city, only using the water transport to visit the islands.

The information provided in the flat by the owners, along with that provided by the them prior to our arrival was very helpful and informative. We had a fantastic time, with the gondola ride being the highlight for all of us.

Lovely well equipped flat in central Venice

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely long weekend in Ca'Amadi this July. Conveniently situated near the Rialto, the flat was easy to get to from all directions - this was particularly handy with a baby, as we were working our sightseeing around nap times/feeding etc and were in and out a lot.

The flat is very well equipped, we made a few meals from produce bought at the market and we found all the various kitchen utensils needed to do so, and more! It is clean, comfortable and quiet and you can sense the owners' love for Venice in the flat and its furnishings. The flat has lots of guide books and local tips and maps compiled by the owners to help you plans and get the most out f your trip. That was my third visit to Venice, and I'm not excluding a 4th at some point, back at Ca Amadi!

3 Nights in Venice

  • 4 of 5

Perfectly placed near the Rialto bridge. We were met from the water taxi (next to Rialto) and shown to the apartment - a mere 5 minute walk. Apartment was clean and well maintained and had everything we needed for our short stay. To be noted is that the upstairs double bedroom and ensuite are in the attic and therefore you do have to stoop to avoid a bumped head - however that is just part of the charm. Only piece of advice when visiting Venice is to bring comfy footwear!

Great apartment, quiet corner yet very central.

  • 4 of 5

The apartment was perfectly located 5 minute walk from Rialto, 10 minutes from San Marco, but is in a quiet location away from the hustle and bustle. Very well equipped apartment, super kingsize double bed under the low ceiling/roof and 2 singles for the kids downstairs. Kitchen had everything we needed, although we ate in and out!

We were travelling with our 2 children age 7&9. They absolutely loved Venice, the look on their faces as we arrived via vaporetto down the grand canal at 10pm, will stay with us for ever.

We bought 48hr vaporetto passes and visited Murano, Burano, Lido and outer edges of Venice. All fabulous. Next 2 days spent on foot with a map wandering from place to place finding marvels around every corner. Children loved map reading and finding their way from one place to the next.

We bought Museum passes (€18 each), but only really enjoyed the Natural History Museum and Doges Palace (not big art fans) so weigh up the costs before you buy.

All in all a fabulous 4 days. Would recommend both this apartment and Venice as a whole. Ryanair flights to Treviso were very cheap and great service from them and the 45 minute transfer to Venice. All good.

Don't leave the kids behind....take them, they'll love it!

Just What We Were Looking For

  • 5 of 5

This apartment was perfect for what we wanted. A quiet, central, charming, well equipped crash pad for 2 adults and 2 teens for our 3 day sightseeing in Venice after a relaxing week at a beach resort up the coast. The arrangments were 1st class, from swift responses from the owners and the large amount of information and guidebooks available at the apartment and the very friendly & efficient meet & greet service at Rialto taking us to the apartment.

The photos of the apartment show it exactly as it is, quiet location, very clean, comfortable beds (Twin + 2 singles to make double in attic), well equipped, nice bathroom, air-con etc. Attic bedroom is resticted headroom as photos and details indicated which may not suit some people but was fine for us as it was as we expected and the kids found it quite quirky and fun. The only small thing I'd change would be to swap the sofabed and wicker chairs in the living area for 2 more comfy sofas & a coffee table to make it more relaxing and cosy, however, being out sightseeing most of the time it was fine for us.

The location is very central & therefore handy for returning to midday after a morning's sightseeing for lunch (and cool down with air-con which was wonderful in the hot August Weather). In 3 days you can cover all of the regions of Venice on foot (though tiring - must have comfortable shoes). The views from the Campanile in St Mark's Square were well worth the 8 Euros each. The queues for the Basilica even at 9.30am put us off looking inside and the magnificent paintings in the Scuola Grande di San Rocco were superb. The Rialto fish & fruit markets are worth a visit even if you don't buy. The mask workshops-cum-shops in San Polo area are worth a visit & we found some nice inexpensive Trattorias just off Campo San Polo.

We were glad we waited until our 3rd day to have a Gondola ride (paid 80 Euros for 35 very enjoyable mins from Campo Santa Maria Formosa) as we knew by then what kind of experience we wanted it to be i.e. NOT ultra touristy around St Mark's, NOT in the fierce afternoon sunlight/heat, NOT in the choppy, noisy waters of the Grand Canal being watched by thousands of other tourists, but a peaceful, graceful glide around the quiet back canals early evening with an extremely friendly and informative Gondolier, making a perfect end to a truely wonderful first visit to Venice.

Nearest Airport : Marco Polo at 11 Kilometres Nearest Beach : Venice Lido at 3 Kilometres Car: not necessary

Venice – La Serenissima - the most magical city on earth………….

On the edges of the sestieri of Cannaregio, Castello and San Marco, Ca'Amadi is extremely convenient for the city’s main attractions, all of which are in easy walking distance. Equally, the quieter residential areas, with shops, bars and restaurants can easily be found close by and ‘off the beaten path’.

From the busy Campo San Bartolomeo, a street leads north towards the Church of San Giovanni Crisostomo, off which is the square of the Teatro Malibran, one of the city’s major venue for classical concerts. The Corte Ca’Amadi lies just to one side. Nearby is the house where Marco Polo lived.

Vaporetti for the outlying Islands of Murano, Burano and Torcello leave from the Fondamente Nuove, again a short walk away.

Close by, across the Rialto Bridge are the spectacular daily fish and vegetable markets and the residential sestieri of Dorsoduro and San Polo.
