Upwards to the stunning top floor contemporary open-plan living space + cargo lift, (so no need to carry up shopping/wine/logs!) and spacious dining terrace with built-in charcoal BBQ and pyramid gas heater for any chilly evenings. The kitchen is superbly equipped with all cooking gadgets, microwave and cutlery etc. (Even cookery books) Accessed from the living room via a spiral staircase there is a magnificent spacious roof terrace with adjustable sun-loungers, shade canopy and hot/cold shower and the most fabulous panoramas over the village and hills to the sea beyond! About Mrs Suzanne Davy
2006 was actually when I bought the plot of land where Casa Convento now sits and it was completed in 2008. I have always worked in design of some sort, either in interiors, or as a stylist, writer and now, photographer, so it was a dream to design and build my own house, which we also spend time in whenever we can secure a week or two! My husband, a helicopter pilot, and I live in the beautiful, historic city of Bath.

Why Mrs Suzanne Davy chose Axarquia (Costa del Sol)
The Axarquia area is full of fabulous places to visit and has a great diversity of interest for all. We love the village of Canillas and its people, who are very friendly and greet everyone in passing. From here, it is easy to visit lots of lovely 'pueblos blancos', many of which you can spot from our panoramic dining terrace or sunbathing roof terrace. Behind is the unspoilt wilderness of the National Park, with access for walks right behind the house. We are only 25 minutes panoramic drive from the seaside and many beaches to explore. We have a favourite beach 'club' in Torre del Mar called Bahia de Tanit. Marbella etc are within reaching distance for a ritzy day out.

Casa Convento is a stunning property in a stunning location. The house is contemporary, spotlessly clean, with everything you could need for a relaxing holiday. The roof terrace is the perfect place for a spot of sunbathing, while the very private pool offers a welcome chance to cool off. We loved sitting on the dining terrace with a glass or two of wine watching the sun set over the mountains. Absolute heaven. Canillas de Aceituno has a great choice of bars and restaurants and a host of friendly people. Suzanne made the whole booking process very easy and the information she provided was invaluable. We'd highly recommend it.
Hill side retreat with superb views!
This property is one of the best we have stayed in for a variety of reasons. The whole procedure including initial contact, support during our stay, right through to our departure went smoothly. Contact and communication cannot be faulted and Sonia and Ian looked after our needs during our vacation. Our holiday was totally superb. The pool was fantastic, warm, clean and private. The house was really well equipped for all our needs, including a dumb waiter! The bar-b-q was amazing, eating out on the terrace overlooking the village was a beautiful experience. The beach at Torre Del Mar was only 21km away and totally amazing.
We cannot recommend this property highly enough.
A Lovely comfortable house with fabulous views
The house lived up to the owners description and all the other excellent reviews. It was well maintained, especially the swimming pool!
The air conditioning in our bedroom was much appreciated during the night!
Sonia and Ian, the English couple who maintain the house, only live a couple of doors away and were helpful and easy to get hold of.
The booking procedure was also very easy with Suzanne, the owner, replying to any questions without hesitation.
We only wanted to 'chill out' this holiday, rather than doing sight-seeing, so we pre-booked a taxi from airportcitytransfer.com. The taxi met us at Malaga Airport and picked us - on time for both and was a total of 128 euros for the two trips.
We had a lovely time in this very friendly village, in the very pretty house with the studding views! Thank you.
Great Villa, beautiful location
We would recommend Casa Convento to all Once you find your way to the beautiful hillside town of Canillas and up the road to the villa perched near the top affording a stunning view - it is just amazing - what a truly memorable holiday. The villa is very comfortable and clean with massive beds you sink into, every comfort is thought of and provided. Terraces for sunbathing, long lunches, late drinks, walks into the town for coffee at the Angel Bar are a must, and evening meals where your spanish is really tested - what could be better.
Great house with stunning views in a very friendly village. Easy booking with good relevant information from the owner. Would highly recommend but a certain amount fitness is required to walk to and from the village centre.
Having used Owners Direct for some years now, we have enjoyed some fantastic accommodation in locations across Europe, but I have to say that Casa Convento is a bit special. The decor, facilities, cleanliness and comfort are all of the very highest level, making the house a pleasure to return to each day after discovering the surrounding area. Communication with the owner, Suzanne, was very straightforward with the directions and entry instructions being clear and easy to follow. The village itself is also a delight. Great bars and restaurants, friendly locals and a lovely relaxed ambiance make Canillas de Aceituna a fantastic and still largely undiscovered destination. I know its a cliche, but this really is "The Real Spain" and one which I cannot recommend highly enough. A huge thank you to all concerned.

20 mins from the buzz of Costa del Sol and Torre del Mar brings you to the peace and spectacular scenery of traditional Spain where pueblos blancos cling to the hillsides and the sights and scenery enchant year-round. The Axarquia region has a reputation for the best climate in Europe and, steeped in history, it has much to offer for exploration and sense-of-place, from the plethora of white-washed villages to the Nerja Caves' magical formations. Malaga has a beautiful historical centre - and excellent shopping - while Antequera and Granada are within exploring range. The beautiful drive from the coast brings you to Sierra Tejeda National Park and Canillas, where potted flowers decorate the side-streets, mules and goats studiously ignore humanity and the village ladies practice their flamenco in the evening cool. - FREE WIRELESS INTERNET All lighting has dimmer switches for more atmosphere! The air-conditioning is top-end but to be cost efficient there is an extra pro rata charge (about £10 per room per week) There is underfloor heating for the winter; likewise this has a a charge of about £10 per room per week. For winter months there is a log-burning fire; enough logs for one fire will be provided. Logs easily bought locally. There is a charcoal in-built BBQ on the 3rd floor living room terrace. Due to the spiral staircase from 3rd floor living room to roof terrace and location of roof terrace and pool, this property is not suitable for young children/infirm/elderly. There is a strict NO SMOKING policy at the property. NB; Best to hire a reasonably compact car as parking space is restricted. Diesel is best for the hills!
