Villa Gadea is the central office of Unesco's Music Organisation on the Mediterranean. In August, Villa Gadea provides live musical accompaniment to probably the largest and most dramatic fusion of music and fireworks in Europe - based on an island in the bay the pyrotechnic display is reflected in the sea. It is a stunning event and people come from all over Spain to watch it.

Security: SECURITY

Villa Gadea is a secure resort with video entry to the apartment. It is reached through manned electronic gates, private underground parking is accessed by remote control and there is 24 hour on-site security with multi-CCTV. Additionally, to ensure a good night's sleep, the apartment has acoustic soundproofing, under floor heating, air-conditioning and the master bedroom has remote control security shutters. Digital safe deposit. Our English agent-caretaker lives locally and is on hand to ensure your stay is trouble free. Extra maid service available.

GAS & SAFETY The apartment has an external gas supply from a central storage tank so there is no need for you to purchase gas bottles (butanos). There is a gas boiler for hot water and underfloor central heating. This is sited outside of the apartment in an external utility room. All cooking appliances are electric.

Our Experience of Altea

Altea seemed to have escaped the massive development we are familiar with along the Costas. Its easy to drive through Altea on the N332 the costa road without being aware of the Old town and all its charming venues tucked back behind the main streets.

I visited Altea some 12 years ago and liked it so much that we purchased an apartment. and while it was under construction we mentioned to some friends who visited the area the subsequent year and mentioned the Old Town and all the festivities and wonderful restaurants, all of which we were not aware of and was a great Plus.

Ron and Jenny purchased this apartment in 2004

Why Ron and Jenny chose Altea Area

We particularly liked relaxing on the sun beds in the penthouse while overlooking the nearby boats at sea, going down by the pool, a long stroll through the beautiful gardens within the grounds of the apartments or walking directly onto the beach through the gates in the site boundary fence. At lunch time there are many bars and restaurants to choose from, all within 5 minutes’ walk of the secure grounds, including bars and eating places on the beach where you can dine close to the water edge. For the evenings I can choose to visit the variety of good international restaurants around the site, overlooking the bay. There is also a pleasant 20 minutes stroll into the centre of Altea, along the seafront or you can use a bicycle, where there is a dedicated path for cyclists, very pleasant during the evenings and a pleasure to look at the crystal blue water all the way.

When I am done relaxing then there is the Old Town and new Town of Altea and all the sightseeing and shopping as well as good international dining and Fiestas throughout the year, all very magical during the late balmy evenings.

The Marina in Mascarat 10 minutes’ drive is always a must for me with the beautiful Yachts and quality restaurants and Bars, all very relaxing and uplifting. In the Marina there are many water sports including diving, hire of boats, canoes, jet skies etc. This marina is one of the best I have visited, all kept in immaculate condition.

What makes this apartment unique

There are many nearby towns such as Calpe, some 15 minutes away, which has extensive sandy beaches and a weekly market; there are also extensive promenades, restaurants etc. I look forward to our visits to Calpe and equally it’s nice to get back to the relaxing pace of Altea.

Our other apartments were acquired in 2008 in Altea, province of Mascarat near to the Marina in an area of outstanding beauty, which ideally should not have been developed, but it seemed too good a position. These apartments are all furnished to a high standard and its our belief that our guests over the past years also appreciate staying in our apartments and the area of Altea as a base.

I always hire a car even though my main journey is to and from the airport and visits to restaurants etc outside the Altea, as well as shopping; most of the time we return the car with only using half a tank of fuel. However during the first year of many visits we travelled to Alicante, Valencia and the many resorts between, which there are excellent motor way connections on Toll roads etc.

We have guests from a variety of places coming to stay in the apartments including international guests, guests from Europe, including Spain and all seem to enjoy the area as much as we do.

Lovely apartment, beautiful spot

We had a fantastic week in this apartment in early/ mid June - 4 adults with two small kids in tow. It is elegantly kitted out in a great complex. Every day brought bright sunshine, a dip in the pool, a wander along the beachfront to one of the many summer bars and restaurants. Suzy & John were extremely helpful & accommodating and their agent was always on call.

Thoroughly recommended. Altea is a beautiful, unspoilt spot and you'll struggle to find a better apartment for your Euros.

Owner's Response: Altea is indeed a beautiful 'white town'. From the sea-front, pretty cobbled streets, with an eclectic selection of boutiques & cosmopolitan restaurants wind up the hill to a pedestrian square with its blue-domed church & pavement bars overlooking the sparkling Altea bay.

Excellent location.

This is an excellent location with great views. Ron and his team were very professional and very responsive. The apartment is well equipped and cozy. It may have been a little small for 6 adults but the beautiful balcony was large and great for lunch and dinner. The community is very children friendly and very secure. The Altea beaches are a bit rocky but Calp beaches a few minutes away and are sandy. We enjoyed spending time in the restaurants overseeing the water which were walking distance for the apartment. I highly recommend this place.

Beautiful Place to Stay

From the moment we booked this property the owners Ron & Jenny were a delight to deal with. We were a party of 5 and when we got to the apartment it was everything we could have asked for. Spotless clean and kept to a very high standard. Bright, airy and plenty of room with 2 sun terraces to lounge. This really was a home from home. We were only there for a few days and didn't cook but would have liked to as the kitchen was so well equipped and had everything you could need to make a nice meal.

The pool was beautiful and we practically had it to ourselves.

Lovely walk into Altea which is a beautiful town with many beautiful restaurants.

Overall we will definitely return to this property as it is truly beautiful, safe and perfectly located. It ticks all the boxes for a relaxing holiday.

A spacious top floor apartment in an exclusive gated community

We have returned from a week in Villa Gadea to catch last minute warmth before Autumn. The duplex apartment is very comfortable and spacious with terraces on both levels, a hot tub off the master bedroom and views over the Med. We visited in the last week of September, so the complex was very quiet which was fine for us as we wanted a chill-out week. The apartment is nicely furnished, well appointed with TV, hifi, wifi and comfortable furniture. Everything was clean, linen provided, plenty of hot water and aircon in all rooms.

The location is east of Altea town, within the grounds of an adjacent 5* hotel. Access is easy to get to the beach, which is pebbly and in my opinion not a great place to swim. The apartment does have a shared pool which is fine if you don't want the sea. There are some local walkable Chiringuito restaurant/bars along the shore which have mixed reviews, but are in great locations right by the sea.

If you want to visit Altea town, it is a long 45+ minute walk but taxis can be picked up outside the hotel. We would strongly recommend a hire car to visit the local supermarket, drive to Altea, better beaches or up into the mountains. Local places to visit; Altea old town is charming, good restaurants and full of character. The last week of September is the Christian/Moors festival which lasts several days and brings a real feelgood mood to the town; Calpe is a short drive up the coast with lovely sandy beaches. Inland Guadalest is worth a visit. If you want to visit nearby Greenwich marina be prepared to negotiate the nudist beach and paddling part way along - there is no walkable path and if you have a pushchair/wheelchair, take a taxi. Overall Altea is a really nice area within a short drive from a Benidorm, but culturally light years away - If you want the clubbing/night owl scene, Altea Is not for you.

First Class!

Villa Gadea is a luxurious, well equipped, well maintained and well placed apartment near to the beach and restaurants in Altea. The complex is a good size with good amenities but was also relatively peaceful and quiet even-though it caters well for families with small children such as ours. It was also very safe.

Altea is a lovely place and we arrived in time to see an annual celebration and firework display which was the best I've ever seen.

All in all an excellent place to spend a holiday! Thanks, Ron!

Very luxurious in the most beautiful setting.

THe luxury penthouse apartment lived up to and surpassed the photos. The spacious living area with the terrace ensured that the apartment was comfortable with everything you could wish for that made the holiday the most relaxing and enjoyable experience. The complex offers the most well manicured grounds with a fantastic pool and breathtaking views of the Mediterranean. Local shops are easy to get to and if you wanted to venture further the tram system was easy to use. The five star hotel within the complex was perfect for using their facilities and the bar offered the most amazing cocktails! We would recommend the apartment to anyone wishing to have a great holiday!

The town of Altea embodies both modern and old Spain. It is one of the most charming places on the Costa Blanca; sheltered by mountains and overlooking the sea, the old town is set on a hill above the waterfront. This picturesque village with its many little streets of immaculate white washed houses is a fascinating place to stroll around, exploring the boutiques and galleries. At the summit is the town square, Plaza de la Iglesia with its magnificent views and the church boasting one of the finest blue domes in the region. Rest here in one of the outdoor cafes and enjoy tapas and a drink. There are many restaurants, bars and numerous art galleries in the side streets. In summer the streets are pedestrianised and artists & craftsmen display their works. Altea has always attracted writers and artists because of its special ambience. From the old town it's a short walk to the sea-front and the newer palm-lined esplanade packed with restaurants serving delicious international cuisines.
