A lovely house with great accommodation in a superb location

Les Hortensias and Les Lavandes are luxurious, detached self-catering holiday homes each with their own private swimming pool . The houses are set in a wonderful location close to the small village of Vanxains with its boulangerie, yet only 5 miles from Riberac with all its amenities and famous market. The location is wonderfully peaceful and ideal for getting away from it all. The houses are spacious, superbly equipped and beautifully furnished with luxury features . Each house has its own private pool and the large south-facing terraces which have been designed to make the most of stunning views and fabulous sunsets.

Les Hortensias is spacious, superbly equipped, luxury detached house with under-floor heating and air conditioning and is beautifully furnished inside.

This brand new house has 4 bedrooms (2 doubles, 2 twins) , 3 bathrooms plus separate WC. The kitchen is superbly equipped with Bosch washing machine, tumble drier and dishwasher. The sitting room and dining room enjoy panoramic views and have a wood-burning stove and satellite TV. Outside, the south-facing terrace has a pergola - wonderful for eating outside - and the grounds have been landscaped to include the private swimming pool (10mx5m) and extensive sun terraces. Upstairs one large double bedroom with private dressing area shares a shower room and separate WC with a twin bedroom. Both these rooms have air-conditioning. Downstairs there is one large double bedroom and one twin bedroom - each with their own en-suite bath or shower room. Linen is included in the price. We regret no pet

Lovely stay at Les Hortensias

Had a great week at Les Hortensias. There are the most amazing views across the rolling countryside and sitting on the terrace with a glass of local wine at the end of the day is very peaceful. The house is spotless and very well equipped with everything you could wish for and even though there are neighbours it is very private. The lady who looks after the house is very helpful but unobtrusive. With only local roads near the property there is no traffic noise yet it is quick to drive to Riberac for the Friday market or the beautiful village of Aubeterre for sightseeing - a visit to the monolithic church is a must - before a leisurely evening meal in the pretty square. Also had an excellent meal in St Antoine du Cumond for 14Euros. Brantome and Bourdeilles are also worth visiting and the canoeing from Brantome to Bourdeilles is great for kids and adults.

We only had a week this year which was far too short and hope to return for longer soon. Would certainly recommend these properties to anyone seeking a relaxing pool holiday with entertainment nearby.

A lovely house in an incredible setting

We have had the most wonderful stay at Les Horensias. The house is so well equipped there is everything you could possibly need for a great family holiday. Plenty of space and a calm and relaxing feel. The views from the house are simply amazing - I will never tire of looking at the wonderful scenery from the terrace. The location is good too as there is plenty to see and do in the area - such as the pretty little towns and villages. Riberac itself is very close so its easy to get to the shops etc. We will probably return as this is such a beautiful area and the house is really ideal. The kids loved the pool and as we were lucky with the weather - we spent many hours enjoying the outdoors.

Christine and Andrew Wood - Nancy 15, Jamie 14 and Michael 11 also Grandma and an Aunt joined us for a week.

Les Hortensias, Champagnac

The first thing that strikes you about Les Hortensias is the truly spectacular all-embracing rural view. If you want to 'chill out' this is the place to be. The house is deceptively spacious - the exterior photo does not do it justice. The kitchen is exceptionally well-equipped - no need to take anything with you at all. The sitting room has satellite television which was vital for the well-being of our sons during the World Cup! In the bedrooms there are comfy beds and squashy pillows and good-sized wardrobes. The weather was scorching and the good-sized pool was much used by all of us. We also had many happy meals outside on the terrace under the pergola. Everything is wonderfully tended here. Riberac is a short drive away for shopping at the superstore or market and Bergerac airport just an hour for those who wish to fly. There are plenty of places to visit nearby such as Aubeterre and Brantome. All in all a wonderful place to holiday - this is somewhere a bit special. We will be back!

I love our French idyll here and the slower pace of life. I especially love the views and the tranquillity. I find I sleep and relax here better than anywhere else in the world so I get a rare chance to re-charge the batteries.

The houses are set in a small rural hamlet called Champagnac which sits astride a ridge with lovely views. The old village of Vanxains, with its boulangerie and post office nestles in the valley below and is only a short drive away - you can also cycle or walk to it. Riberac, a bustling town is five miles away. It has all kinds of shops, hypermarkets, restaurants and other facilities such as canoeing and horse riding. The famous Friday market at Riberac is a must for visitors and is as much a social occasion as a shopping opportunity. Aubeterre, a very old and very beautiful village is only 15 minutes drive away - the nearest golf course is also located here. There are lots of other lovely places to explore. Brantome, Bergerac, Perigueux and St Emilion are all less than an hour's drive and are brilliant for sightseeing (and wine tasting!). For familes Lac Jemaye with its lakeside setting, great man-made beach, kayaks and beach bars is very popular.
