About Gina McFadden

I have been coming "Up North" my whole life. As a child I played on the sandy beaches of Lake Michigan, climbed the dunes, and splashed in the rivers and lakes that grace the area. As an adult, I now watch my two girls enjoy the same magical experiences of my childhood. I manage two properties in the area - one on Platte Lake and one on Good Harbor. My passion is to help you and your family/friends enjoy the stunning beauty that is Northern Michigan.

Gina McFadden purchased this cottage in 2015

Loved every minute of our vacation at The Shores at Good Harbor.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at The Shores at Good Harbor from July 15 - 22, 2017. We were so pleased with our vacation. Upon arrival we immediately noted many special touches, a welcome note, signs indicating what switches turned on what, notes on cabinets and drawers letting us know what was inside; all very helpful. The cottage was very clean and welcoming, loved the decorating! Yes, Lake Michigan is right at your door, very few steps to the beach. Listening to the waves roll in, hunting for Petoskey Stones or watching a sunset, each day is so comforting. Loved the location, close to Leland and its shops and restaurants and a short drive to Glen Arbor. We absolutely loved our stay at The Shores at Good Harbor and hope to be back again soon.

Spectacular Views

  • 5 of 5

Would love to keep this gem a secret, but we won't. The view from the house is breathtaking and rivals other area scenic spots like Sleeping Bear Dunes. Enjoyed the privacy of the stretch of beach for walking barefoot. Yes, it was spring and the lake was ice cold and the midges were out, but that won't be our memories of the place. Owner is friendly and responsive.

Beautiful home right on the beach

  • 5 of 5

This was a fantastic home to stay in for our sister vacation. The house is beautifully decorated and there are amazing views of Lake Michigan. The sunsets were incredible.

The host was very responsive and easy to contact. We didn't have any issues. She gave us a very sweet welcome gift and a helpful visitors guide to the house and local area.

We visited in early May, but if we came back again we'd do it later in the summer so we could swim and avoid the gnats that are all over in Leland in early spring.

Overall we were very pleased with our stay and would love to come back again for a great vacation in northern Michigan.

This year/Summer of 2017 Lake water levels were high, so beach walking was curtailed as most of the beach in NW half of the bay was under watered nearly everywhere on the peninsula. Here are 2 upsides to this natural ebb-flow: troublesome algae blooms in Good Harbor Bay were absent and there was a plethora of petoskey, charlevoix, leelanau stones. Normally one can walk for hours along the sands of Good Harbor Bay, so I suspect that this cottage's sandy beach is continguous with the rest of the Bay in most years.

For those not familiar with this part of Leelanau cty: sunsets are gorgeous, Leelanau Conservancy has set aside many tracts that are great walks and hikes; Sleeping Bear NPS has installed a wide bike-hike trail from Bohemia Rd to Glen Haven; the water is gorgeous and there are so many unspoilt beaches to discover.

We had an amazing time! Great location and just steps away from the beach on Lake Michigan.

  • 5 of 5

This is the perfect vacation home! As soon as we walked in the door we knew we were on vacation and could totally relax. The home is well stocked for a week on the beach! Lovely deck with beach recliners, umbrella table, fire pit, charcoal grill and even yoga mats! We ate outside for many meals and the sunsets were incredible! We will come back next year to enjoy this lovely property! It is close to Leland which is a great place to visit and do a bit of shopping. Outstanding owner who provided us with all the information we needed prior to arrival.

Lovely cabin on Lake MI

Great location, lovely decoration, located right on the beach. There were a few minor issues upon moving in but host was accessible via text and phone to address. Great place.
