About the property

Spacious well appointed self catering property with lovely views. Sleeps 8.

There are still plenty of vacancies from mid-August through to December 2017. Christmas and New Year are both still available (price upon application). Please send me an enquiry if you are at all interested.

This property has a 4 star Visit England grading. It has a fitted kitchen with electric oven, hob, extractor hood, dishwasher, washer/dryer, microwave, toaster, CH boiler, fridge and separate freezer. The ground floor is open-plan with large living area including wood burning stove to Inglenook fireplace. There is a separate dining area seating 8 around a large table. There is also a shower room on the ground floor. An imposing staircase takes one to both sides of the property with viewing bridge. The large impressive master bedroom has a wealth of original oak beams, king size bed, ensuite shower room and walk-in wardrobe. Across the bridge there are two attractive bedrooms and a bathroom with bath, shower enclosure and shaver point. Further stairs lead to a 4th bedroom with twin beds and a separate galleried landing area with seating, TV and DVD. Access to the gravelled parking area to front and private lawned garden with flower borders to rear is via a covered verandah.

A superbly appointed base for a holiday!

Just a quick note Claire to say thank you very much for the loan of your lovely spacious barn for our holiday and your hospitality and welcome when we arrived. The place was immaculate and had absolutely everything we needed - in fact the attention to detail you offered was simply outstanding and there wasn't a single item we could think of that wasn't already there. Especially welcoming was the additional supply of local goodies and basic materials - we wanted for nothing. We also made great use of the local information table - the only problem was choosing which of the myriad of activities to do!

Thank you very much once again for everything you did - great accommodation is the foundation for a great holiday and we couldn't have asked for more! A very highly recommended residence.

Stunning! Perfect location, charm and character.

An amazing place which is in an idyllic location. Wonderful views, lots of space for kids to run around in and loads to do nearby. The barn itself has been lovingly renovated and has every home comfort with loads of wonderful touches. We have booked again for next year already.

The property is in a wonderful location, surrounded by beautiful countryside. Claire was at the barn to great us, along with a fantastic hamper of goodies! Claire was very helpful in advance and when we arrived. We couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay.

The attention to detail inside this beautifully converted barn is fabulous. The views are breath taking. The facilities are so good that it almost won't matter if you forget to bring something because unless you need a space suit everything is there. Really feels like the owners have thought about you and how to make your stay as good as it can be. Just brilliant! Thank you!

Excellent 4th stay

Our 4th stay at this lovely Barn. As usual Claire made sure that everything was in place. The lovely welcome pack was excellent and the provision of a basket containing various hot chocolate drinks & tea, coffee and sugar was a bonus.

The Barn was warm with an ample supply of logs, clean and fresh as always

We enjoyed a lovely relaxing time, some went walking whilst others enjoyed a quiet, restful time.

Thank you Claire as always. Highly recommended accommodation in a lovely setting away from the crowds

Owner's Response: I would like to thank our guests for taking the time to post yet another review. It is very pleasing to hear that they had a lovely relaxing time. We put a lot of time and thought into making the barn comfortable and peaceful. There is a wonderful walk right from the door along the River Monnow to Skenfrith (about 4 miles). You can cut the walk short, if you wish, at St. John the Baptist Church (which is well worth exploring) and return via the road or turn round and retrace your steps. I look forward to meeting these guests again when they return for another stay in 2017.

This converted Grade II listed 18th Century stone threshing barn is situated 4 miles from the historic border town of Monmouth, in the picturesque Monnow Valley. Monmouth, the birthplace of Henry V and Charles Rolls, is in the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty known as the Wye Valley. Close by is the beautiful Royal Forest of Dean. The Cathedral City of Hereford, on the River Wye, home of the Mappa Mundi and Chained Library(www.herefordcathedral.org/visit-us/mappa-mundi-1), is about 16 miles to the North and Ross-on-Wye, the birthplace of English Tourism, is some 10 miles distance. The Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons National Park are within easy reach for the enthusiastic walker, with Brecon and its Cathedral close by, less than an hours’ drive away. The Glamorgan Heritage Coast, Cardiff Bay, Swansea and the Gower Peninsular are also within easy reach for glorious days out. There is some beautiful local countryside surrounding this barn with lots of footpaths and many walks. En-route there are some lovely country pubs and fine restaurants, eg The Bell at Skenfrith (award winning).
