A Jewel in the Countryside

What can I say??? This barn is beautiful ! It certainly has the WOW factor. Very modern inside and fitted out to a superb standard and is spotlessly clean. Everything you could possibly need is here, the owners have thought of everything. So many little touches that make you feel at home. My husband and I had a family long weekend with our 2 adult sons and their girlfriends and my Mum. Plenty of room for our party of 7. A car is definitely needed but if you have SAT NAV it is SO easy. Peaceful surroundings with views to die for ! Beaufort Hotel in Raglan is good for a meal especially Sunday Lunch. The New Inn at St Owens Cross although only small, has a lovely atmosphere with lovely food. Not your usual Pub Grub. We will most certainly return again. Thank you Claire and Richard for welcoming us so warmly ! Cheryl & Tom

Owner's Response: It is wonderful to have all our hard work appreciated in this way. We are so pleased that our guests had a lovely reunion with their family. I gather the birds were singing. The property was designed to be family friendly and furnished to provide a home from home atmosphere.

The property is in a wonderful location, surrounded by beautiful countryside. Claire was at the barn to great us, along with a fantastic hamper of goodies! Claire was very helpful in advance and when we arrived. We couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay.

The attention to detail inside this beautifully converted barn is fabulous. The views are breath taking. The facilities are so good that it almost won't matter if you forget to bring something because unless you need a space suit everything is there. Really feels like the owners have thought about you and how to make your stay as good as it can be. Just brilliant! Thank you!

Excellent 4th stay

  • 5 of 5

Our 4th stay at this lovely Barn. As usual Claire made sure that everything was in place. The lovely welcome pack was excellent and the provision of a basket containing various hot chocolate drinks & tea, coffee and sugar was a bonus.

The Barn was warm with an ample supply of logs, clean and fresh as always

We enjoyed a lovely relaxing time, some went walking whilst others enjoyed a quiet, restful time.

Thank you Claire as always. Highly recommended accommodation in a lovely setting away from the crowds

Owner's Response: I would like to thank our guests for taking the time to post yet another review. It is very pleasing to hear that they had a lovely relaxing time. We put a lot of time and thought into making the barn comfortable and peaceful. There is a wonderful walk right from the door along the River Monnow to Skenfrith (about 4 miles). You can cut the walk short, if you wish, at St. John the Baptist Church (which is well worth exploring) and return via the road or turn round and retrace your steps. I look forward to meeting these guests again when they return for another stay in 2017.

Amazing barn conversion in a beautiful setting.

  • 5 of 5

We booked Old Orchard Barn for a short two family break and despite the weather had a wonderful time. It's a fabulous property surrounded by amazing country walks. There are also some stunning castles a short drive away (Raglan and the White Castle winning our children's top prizes). I can't recommend the property enough.

Owner's Response: We would like to thank our guest for taking the time to post this review. We very much appreciate their comments. The castles that are mentioned are but two of many in our locality with others, Goodrich, Skenfrith, Grosmont equally as stunning. There is the Three Castles Walk for the energetic between Skenfrith, Grosmont and Whitecastle. Probably best undertaken in good weather! We also thank our guest for recommending our property, this is the best possible publicity. Please do come again at any time, maybe in the spring or autumn when the weather would probably be less wet!
