About the property

Spacious well appointed self catering property with lovely views. Sleeps 8.

There are still plenty of vacancies from mid-August through to December 2017. Christmas and New Year are both still available (price upon application). Please send me an enquiry if you are at all interested.

This property has a 4 star Visit England grading. It has a fitted kitchen with electric oven, hob, extractor hood, dishwasher, washer/dryer, microwave, toaster, CH boiler, fridge and separate freezer. The ground floor is open-plan with large living area including wood burning stove to Inglenook fireplace. There is a separate dining area seating 8 around a large table. There is also a shower room on the ground floor. An imposing staircase takes one to both sides of the property with viewing bridge. The large impressive master bedroom has a wealth of original oak beams, king size bed, ensuite shower room and walk-in wardrobe. Across the bridge there are two attractive bedrooms and a bathroom with bath, shower enclosure and shaver point. Further stairs lead to a 4th bedroom with twin beds and a separate galleried landing area with seating, TV and DVD. Access to the gravelled parking area to front and private lawned garden with flower borders to rear is via a covered verandah.

A superbly appointed base for a holiday!

Just a quick note Claire to say thank you very much for the loan of your lovely spacious barn for our holiday and your hospitality and welcome when we arrived. The place was immaculate and had absolutely everything we needed - in fact the attention to detail you offered was simply outstanding and there wasn't a single item we could think of that wasn't already there. Especially welcoming was the additional supply of local goodies and basic materials - we wanted for nothing. We also made great use of the local information table - the only problem was choosing which of the myriad of activities to do!

Thank you very much once again for everything you did - great accommodation is the foundation for a great holiday and we couldn't have asked for more! A very highly recommended residence.

Beautifully converted barn

We had a wonderful stay at Orchard Barn. Claire and Richard have done an amazing job of converting this barn. It was ideal for our family get together. The views are wonderful and provides everything you need. The welcome basket is possibly the best we’ve had. The accommodation was immaculately clean. We would definitely stay again should we be in need of accommodation in the area.

Another fab weekend at Old Orchard Barn

This is our 5th or even 6th stay here. This time we just chilled out, ate, drank and gossipped until the early hours. As usual the accomodation was clean and tidy, there were logs available for the wood burner. A lovely welcome pack and a good collection of tea, coffee & chocolate which was very nice. A well equipped barn in beautiful surroundings, and call just 40 mins from home. We left it all clean and tidy and hope Claire did not have too much to do.

Amazing 4 bed property- very roomy, impressive staircase, all needs catered for

Beautiful area of countryside, fabulous property. Very thoughtful host, with everything you could ever need provided. Lovely welcome basket, fresh flowers etc. Plenty of room to fit 8 very comfortably. Due to stone flooring and wood staircase, a bit echoey, and noise travels through the building, but for us a very minor inconvenience. Comfy beds, plenty of towels, and very clean. 3 bathrooms- excellent. Need a car here. Would definitely use again.

So pleased that they liked the welcome basket. Yes a car is necessary here but Monmouth is only 4 miles away with all the shops and attractions one would need. Other towns and activities are also close by with Hereford and Abergavenny only 30 minutes away. The Royal Forest of Dean and the Wye Valley are also close by. Our guest and her friends would be most welcome to stay again at any time.

We had a great time at Claire’s barn. The conversion is so lovely with the original beam work is still there. The facilities are great and Claire has thought of everything. The barn is spotless and so spacious. Amazing!! The surrounding area is lovely for walks and a great escape. We were a party of 8 - 4 adults and 4 children and we had the best time. Nav & family

This converted Grade II listed 18th Century stone threshing barn is situated 4 miles from the historic border town of Monmouth, in the picturesque Monnow Valley. Monmouth, the birthplace of Henry V and Charles Rolls, is in the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty known as the Wye Valley. Close by is the beautiful Royal Forest of Dean. The Cathedral City of Hereford, on the River Wye, home of the Mappa Mundi and Chained Library(www.herefordcathedral.org/visit-us/mappa-mundi-1), is about 16 miles to the North and Ross-on-Wye, the birthplace of English Tourism, is some 10 miles distance. The Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons National Park are within easy reach for the enthusiastic walker, with Brecon and its Cathedral close by, less than an hours’ drive away. The Glamorgan Heritage Coast, Cardiff Bay, Swansea and the Gower Peninsular are also within easy reach for glorious days out. There is some beautiful local countryside surrounding this barn with lots of footpaths and many walks. En-route there are some lovely country pubs and fine restaurants, eg The Bell at Skenfrith (award winning).
