Ski in ski out 4-bed chalet near swimming lake in Les Gets

Chalet Lapin Rouge is situated in Le Char Rond, a quiet cul de sac of luxury chalets on the Chavannes side of Les Gets. The chalet was built in 2000 and is modern and spacious with accommodation over 3 floors and sleeping for 8 people. It has a large terrace with beautiful Alpine views over Les Gets.

In most snow conditions, you can ski in/ski out of the chalet. You ski or walk approx. 100m to the end of the road and access a gentle slope down to the main chairlift and cable car. You can ski back to the chalet via a blue run. Additionally a free ski bus stops very close to the chalet.

The location is also perfect for summer, being near Les Gets' swimming lake and adventure park and under 10 minutes walk, down across a meadow, to the village centre.

Perfectly located and beautifully appointed

  • 5 of 5

Chalet Lapin Rouge is perfectly positioned by the slopes with stunning views across the valley. It is warm and cosy and very spacious. It is well kitted out with everything you need. Covered parking means we didn't have to remove snow from the car when we decided to drive to further afield. A big boot room for skiis and boots etc

Les Gets is a lovely town and has everything you need as well as good Après Ski and entertainment. All within walking distance. Great for kids and adults.

Dealing with the owners was a delight - they could not have been more helpful including making some useful recommendations on ski hire, restaurants, best slopes and rest stops etc. Broadband and desk to plug in the laptop was an added bonus along with satellite TV and DVD collection.

We had a wonderful time there and despite it being the very end of the ski season the snow was good enough to the end.

Our kids loved playing around the lake after skiing and want to come back for the summer to go on the big slide and adventure park. We will definitely be back!

A great week at Chalet Lapin Rouge

  • 5 of 5

The property was accurately described on the website. Booking was easy; excellent customer service from both the owner and Mountain Xtra.

We ordered a welcome pack (silver) of goodies from Mountain Xtra which was all laid out for us and most welcome as the shops were shut by the time we got there. We think Chalet Lapin Rouge is very well equipped and very comfortable and in a really good location. Being April and near the end of the season there wasn’t enough snow to ski in/ski out, but it certainly didn’t take long to get to the town and ski lifts – a lot longer getting back with shopping to carry so we used the free, half-hourly bus. We made use of the wood burning stove several times. It snowed the night before we left and everywhere looked very pretty. Would recommend staying here.

Some of us hired ski equipment from Berthet Sports which worked well and it was great to be able to store skis at their shop in town; others used Doorstep Skis which was a really good service too.

We self-catered and found the Carrefour to be well stocked. We ate out at the Creperie and Le Tyrol in town, excellent food and service in both. We found Le Yeti good value for lunch when skiing and ate there most days.

Good location for Mountain Biking in the summer

  • 5 of 5

A nice chalet and good location for the lifts, we used it is summer for Mountain Biking and it was perfect for this as you could roll down from the lake after a nice swim late in the day and also roll out int he morning to the lift. So perfect for MTB as no pushing up hills to get back in the evening.

The chalet has a good standard and there was nothing we wanted that was not there. Wifi was good, view is good, bedrooms are good. Also close enough to walk in to town on an evening for a drink.

A real home-from-home chalet with stunning views

  • 5 of 5

A lovely, well equipped and homely chalet with outstanding views and perfect location. Located very close to the lake, which is great for swimming, yet also within easy reach of the town with an outstanding collection of restaurants and shops. We enjoyed the trip up the mountain in the cable car and the pretty walk on the way back down and also found the walking and mountain biking to be excellent. All-in-all a perfect holiday and we will definitely be booking this chalet again!

great summer cycle base - road, mountain or VTT

  • 5 of 5

We had a great family holiday at Lapin Rouge. It is a lovely chalet and nicely organised for two small families, with all the stuff you need to enjoy your life in the Alps. We were greeted on arrival and helped to understand how everything worked and where everything was. The chalet was clean and well-maintained with all facilities working and as advertised - including the TV and quite a few DVDs which we made some use of in the evening.

My son and I took our road bikes, but one look at the local downhill tracks got us interested and we used the owner's recommendation to hire some downhill VTT bikes at evasion sports - brilliant fun! We did get out on the road after a few days and found quickly that you need to be prepared for changes in the weather in the Alps - luckily we were and remained dry enough as we made it up to Avoriaz and back down through past Mondriot and Morzine to home - the chalet has a bath so we were able to warm up enough to enjoy dinner.

The town of Les Gets has plenty of restaurants and bars, including La Flambeau, which was one of those recommended by the owner and is a great place, especially if you like checking out interesting decor - the toilet needs to be seen! Friendly and relaxed ambiance, but with good cooking and great service - we haven't have a better meal in a ski resort.

There's plenty of other activities to enjoy, including some excellent walking tracks - which usually have a restaurant involved somewhere - the one at the top of Mont Caly is particularly nice with views to Mont Blanc (assuming no clouds around).

The chalet is conveniently situated for the village, the lifts and the lake in summer. We didn't do any swimming, but the lake was pretty warm and as usual the facility looked well organised. There are several good places to drive to and look around.

All in all - this is a chalet I would recommend to anyone for a summer trip, and if you were looking to ski in Les Gets I couldn't see many better places to stay, so worth a visit in winter too.

Lapin Rouge Family Ski Holiday

  • 4 of 5

A gorgeous Alpine Chalet that was cosy and comfortable with attractive interiors and fabulous views.

It was a fantastic size for our party of 6 and we had all the facilities and kitchen equipment we could have wanted. The underfloor heating kept us warm and comfortable. The drying rooms were very useful for all our skiing gear.

We were able to walk into town down a quite steep piste/footpath and the ski bus was able to give us a lift back. It was a shame that the night bus stopped the week before we arrived as it was a bit of a trek back at night from the town for my parents. We had no car with us and in winter it probably would be a huge benefit to have one for this location. If you are happy to walk it is uphill but doesn't take more than 20 minutes or so.

We had good communication from the owner and we were met by an agent who minds the property.

I would recommend the property for summer or winter, it fulfills all your chalet wishes, lots of attractive wooden furniture, a log burner, balcony, mountain views, boot rooms, lots of storage. My boys loved the bunk beds and they spent a lot of time drawing in the office area. A huge amount and range of DVDs were provided and although we didn't use it we were told about the internet connection.

The kitchen was very well equipped , we particularly the appreciated the huge mugs for hot chocolate, tea and coffee. It was good to have herbs, oils and a few condiments provided as well.

The skiing at Les Gets was excellent for the family, the boys adored the Indian Trail and the Milka run. We found lots of great cafes snack bars and restaurants. We enjoyed generous portions and the convenience of being on the piste at the Yeti located at the top of the Chavannes Cable Car. Fabulous Crepes were had at the Creperie very close to the ski school meeting point. My husband and I enjoyed a hot Stone meal at The Regina Hotel, where we were greeted with warm hospitality , excellent food and more traditionally Alpine decor. We recommend the cheese board and the Creme Brulee.

We used the ice rink and the ESF ski school. The Ski school was slow to get organised the first day but after that and a few hiccups with our youngest trying various classes, it was good and both boys made excellent progress and most importantly of all, had a fab time.

Overall we were very pleased with the accomadation and we had a brilliant holiday.

Les Gets is an attractive village of traditional chalets, near Morzine and Avoriaz, just one hour from Geneva airport. It has an excellent snow record and good French and English ski schools which makes it a very popular destination for families. It is part of the vast Portes du Soleil ski area, which straddles France and Switzerland, although the extensive local area of Morzine/Les Gets will satisfy most people. The village has a mainly pedestrianised centre and a good range of shops, including two small supermarkets; a wide variety of restaurants; a few bars and a nightclub. There is an outdoor ice rink, which adds to the charm. In the summer, there is a swimming lake with man-made beach; adventure park; 18-hole golf course and extensive mountain bike and walking trails. White water rafting is available nearby. Within easy reach for day trips are Annecy, Evian, Chamonix, Geneva and the beaches on Lake Geneva.
