Peaceful and idyllic location: just perfect for us.
We thoroughly enjoyed our two-week stay at Michael's cottage. It was easy to find with SatNav, and true to all the pictures you see on the website. There is loads of room in the main kitchen/diner/living room and the kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could possibly want. Bedrooms and bathrooms are comfortable and clean and there is an endless supply of hot water.
Although the property is not lakeside it has a huge veranda which we used almost constantly due to having such great weather during our stay. Access to the lake is just a 1 minute walk further down to the end of the track, where we also spent several evenings watching the sunset. We went swimming in the lake and canoeing, thanks to Bud and Sally (who live at the first house on 6th Ave) who generously lent us lifejackets and who we assume own the canoes.
Supermarket shopping was only a few miles away, along the 52 to Belfast (for Hannafords), or turn off the 52 earlier and go down Beech Hill Road then turn right onto the Atlantic Highway (for Wentworth Family Grocery). You can find both easily on google maps.
There is a lot to do in the area and, although we preferred mostly to experience the calm, peaceful existence that the cabin offers, reading many books and enjoying the good weather, we did make it up to Mount Batty (near Camden in the Camden Hills State Park [there's an entry fee for this]) from where you can walk down into Camden.
Michael was always helpful and quick in response before our stay and, although we didn't really need to correspond much during our stay, any questions we had were swiftly dealt with.
Our only regret was not being able to bring our dog, Oscar, because we came from UK. He would have loved it here, exploring both the forest to the back of the cabin and the lake to the front.
We would wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone who wants a quiet getaway, which is nonetheless close to all amenities. Great for young and old alike, we will be saving up now for a boat trip over to the States so that we can bring Oscar next time!
