Lovely villa but in need of a face lift.
We are 4 independent friends who regularly rent holiday villas and who stayed in Villa Blue Maho for 14 days. We have a slightly mixed review of this property because there are many pros but also several cons.
The villa is beautifully sited with wonderful views of the marine goings on in Marigot Bay; a good, medium sized pool and airy and comfortable bedrooms and beds. The villa was very clean with a good supply of clean linen and towels. Pauline, the house manager was helpful and the cleaners effective. Pauline got us an additional two sun loungers when requested as there were only two for the four of us on arrival. Cornelius also fixed the ageing lock on the main bedroom door which was sticking badly.
However the villa is in need of quite a bit of love and attention. The exterior is becoming shabby and needs some repair (gutters etc) and the property definitely needs a re-paint. The upper West facing terrace could be a lovely place to catch the afternoon sun but badly needs decorating and some sort of shade awning erected - the metal structure is already there. Sadly this terrace is also completely devoid of any sort of furniture. Similarly the rotary dryer on the pool deck is also unattractive and takes up a lot of valuable leisure room.
Internally there are several lights that don’t work and many of the taps drip and the shower heads definitely need attention as they are not very effective. Some items need attention in the kitchen (the non-working fan by the cooker, the wobbly upper shelf and non working soap dispenser in the dishwasher etc. The kitchen is very well provisioned with cooking utensils but some crockery (cups and mugs) and cutlery are in fairly short supply for four and would be a bit of a problem with a full house of seven people. One thing that is not clear in the description is that the small bedroom in the upstairs apartment can only be accessed through the larger bedroom and the bathroom can only be accessed from the smaller room by going through the larger bedroom - not ideal. We also felt that a rather more detailed ‘Villa Book’ would be useful giving general area information (doctors, banks, restaurants, shops etc.) and specific information about the villa (recycling arrangements, how does the complicated microwave oven work etc).
However the advantages outweigh the disadvantages and overall this villa is fair value for money but we feel the true rating for this property should actually be about three & a half stars.
