If you don't feel like cooking dinner, just walk out your door, down the cast-stone walkway, through the beautiful garden courtyards and through the large Medieval iron gates, where you will come upon The Inn at Phillip's Mill, also built by Morgan Colt and arguably 'the most romantic restaurant in all of Bucks County' (For weekend dining, you must call ahead for reservations. Perfect for personal reset
This was my second time visiting and I'm sure I'll be back! I have a dust allergy and Kurt and Eleanor were kind enough to provide an air filter to enhance my comfort. Kurt showed me some awesome family heirlooms and shared the history of the property, which is fascinating. I was able to easily walk on my own down the canal tow path into town, explore, and head back with no trouble. If you want a quiet getaway to yourself, this is it!

Charming & Cozy Hidden Gem
I had an absolutely amazing weekend stay. The cottage was so charming and cozy, a perfect place to escape and relax. Eleanor and Kurt were such kind and gracious hosts, I thoroughly enjoyed being shown around the property and learning its history. The cottage is incredible, like stepping back in time, a magical little hidden gem that is perfect for a quiet and peaceful getaway. Quaint and clean, with one of the most comfortable beds ever, conveniently located just minutes from New Hope. Thank you, Eleanor and Kurt, for being so warm, friendly, and welcoming, and for giving me a tour of your home, showing me your amazing family heirlooms and treasures, and sharing your family’s history and the history of the art colony. A truly unique and magical place. I cannot wait for my next getaway visit to your cottage!

Gothic Cottage
Our stay was a unique experience in a small but cozy cottage with a very interesting history which our hosts Kurt and Eleanor were kind enough to share with us! We had a bit of trouble with the short doorways and the small shower,( my husband is tall), but the bed was comfortable and the kitchen had all the the basics necessities. Close to restaurants, shops and theaters.

I was an actress in NYC for many years and settled here in the New Hope area with my husband. Then for the last 25+ years I've been a Real Estate agent with (Kurfiss Sotheby's Real Estate in New Hope).

Why they chose this property

Note: If our calendar says we're book on dates you are interested in, please ask about our second English cottage "Herringbone Cottage" here # 4780852.

This property originally belonged to my husband's grandfather, Dr. George Morley Marshall who in 1895 thought the New Hope area looked like the rolling English countryside so he wrote his boyhood friend and artist, William Lathrope and told him he had to come to New Hope. He then sold a portion of the property to Lathrop, thus began the School of Pennsylvania Impressionists here in the New Hope/ Phillips' Mill area. Soon after, Lathrop sold a few acres to Morgan Colt. who was a well known architect, painter, woodworker, and iron worker and painter. Morgan Colt then began building this extraordinary little English Village to be his residence. We purchased this property in 1995 and in 2010 decided to make two of the cottages available to rent (Gothic Cottage) seen here and (Herringbone Cottage #4780852 )

What makes this property unique

Dozens of great restaurants, cafe's, art galleries, and live music venues all within 2 miles of the cottage as well as 3 museums nearby. All of our guests love walking or riding bikes on the canal tow-path. You can see all the beautiful historic homes along the canal as you walk along. We have a great indoor Farmers Market in the little river town of Stockton and another in downtown New Hope which is just 1 mile away. You can walk there on the canal if you like. Our little English village property is like a scene out of a Harry Potter movie. The entire little English village was built to look 900 years old. One of the cottages was originally built in England hundreds of years ago. It was part of an old Abby which had fallen into ruin. A section of the building was dismantled and brought to the U.S., barged up the canal to this location. It was reconstructed and brought back to its original luster. Its just gorgeous! Take in a show at the Newly renovated Bucks County Playhouse. Maybe even see James Earl Jones or Angela Lansbury or dozens of other stars in our historic Playhouse.
