About Zoe Sherrill

As an English-as-a-Second-Language instructor in Los Angeles with several hundred Mexican students coming to my classes, I was impressed with their kindness, generosity, work ethic and often tireless efforts to learn English. Their families were far away and most longed to return to their homeland but with no work to be had, they had to provide for their families elsewhere. My students inspired me and my husband, who retired in 2003, to go and discover the real Mexico. We headed to lovely Puerta Vallarta and then traveled traveled inland to Guadalajara in search of the Silver Cities built when the Spanish occupied Mexico. We visited beautiful pristine Morelia then headed to an American artist community, San Miguel de Allende by bus. Once in the Queretaro bus station, a main station in Mexico, we met a Mexican who suggest we see Queretaro. We stayed several days walking the historic center. The many plazas and fountains reminded us of Rome - we felt like we were in Europe but yet so close to home. Within a week we bought our house because it was undeniably in the best location in the center. It was such a large property that we decided the building was perfect for a bed and breakfast. Each room had a private entrance off the courtyard as well as led one room into another. We closed off each bedroom and added bathrooms, then created an annex for two more rooms and added a dining room. This was a 13-month process with nearly all Spanish speakers at a time when we spoke no Spanish. With many kind and helpful people, we finished our house in 2006, later to revise it by making independent accommodations for vacation rentals at a nominal rate. We dance almost nightly and play under the sunny skies of Queretaro where nearly every day is t-shirt weather and the people are so friendly and welcoming to us that we have a hard time leaving when we visit our daughter in the states. We want to welcome you and share our oasis and the treasures of Queretaro with you and yours

Why Zoe Sherrill chose Querétaro

This sprawling property will make you feel at home with luxurious amenities yet give you an authentic Mexican experience of colonial days gone by. Ceiling fans and cooling systems provide comfort even on the warmest afternoon. Large openable windows catch the constant Queretaro breeze which to provide soothing comfort and a sense of place in this wonderful temperate climate. In addition, ceiling ventilators change the air throughout the day. Most Queretano hotels, homes and restaurants do not have heating systems for it is rarely cold except for a few weeks of the year. However, at Quinta Zoe we go the extra mile with safe, built-in ceramic wall heaters. While rarely needed, you can be sure of your comfort and so can we.

What makes this apartment unique

In this ideal location, you will get the most from your Mexico vacation. Within our secured property, you can be assured of your safety and security. With very few employees and an electronic safe in each room, you can be assured of a safe as well as smokeless atmosphere. We show you how to buy exceptional produce in local mercados so you can live inexpensively and well. Mercados also provide high-quality cooked meals so there is no need to cook or eat out. The vegetarian restaurant across the street delivers many excellent and cheap meals daily for about $3. We give our guests restaurant recommendations on our numbered map. As English speakers we can help you learn some basic Spanish (see our website with links to Spanish videos). We understand that Mexican standards can differ from other North American and European and we know how to deliver or obtain these standards in many ways such as medical care or referrals to the best jewelers. We maintain our property meticulously which isn't always the case in Mexico. We want you to enjoy your time with us worry-free with soothing sleep-filled nights and full days of many pleasant experiences getting the most for value for your money.

Queretaro gem!

  • 5 of 5

Behind a light pink facade and through a chocolate colored set of towering doors lies Quinta Zoe, a gorgeous trio of rental units. We stayed in the smallest studio, which was impeccably decorated in traditional Mexican decor. The kitchen was well stocked , and perfect for a light breakfast before heading out to explore the city for the day. The courtyard and sun deck were private and peaceful. Zoe and Dave were wonderful hosts and welcomed us with helpful tips and let us know what events were going on around the city. Location was excellent, just 1-2 blocks from the main plazas, shopping and restaurants.
