About this property

!!Hot Tub!! - Edge of Gros Morne Park - Explorers, family & Snowmobilers home

Situated on the edge of Big Bonne Bay Pond and Gros Morne National Park our 1800 sq foot beachfront vacation house offers beautiful views of the lake, rolling hills and wildlife. While houses are on either side of the property, large trees keep the house secluded.

The property is situated on the very edge of Gros Morne National Park with a large ecological preserve just outside your master bedroom. Opportunities exist to watch moose, ducks and other wildlife while sitting on your deck or in the vast gardens soaking up the fresh air while having your morning coffee. When you have finished your coffee take a stroll along the beach and have a look for tracks to see if you had any moose visit you overnight.

Exploring Gros Morne national park is a geographically challenged task. Our home is situated in the middle of the park, 40 minutes from the Tablelands Mountains and 1 hour from Western Brook pond. Being centrally located is perfect to head out for your daily adventures.

The House is equipped with all the amenities you will need for your stay. Use the fully equipped oak kitchen to prepare your food however you like it. With a fish plant and full grocery facilities nearby you’ll have lots of opportunity to enjoy fresh lobster, cod and all kinds of ocean treats. We have a lobster pot and outdoor propane cooker at the house so you can enjoy a traditional outdoor lobster feast. If you need more supplies for the house a corner store is only 5 km away and the City of Deer Lake is only a short 15 minute drive.

There are 3 bedrooms. The master bedroom has a Queen bed with large windows overlooking the lake and the ecological preserve. The second bedroom has a Queen bed. The third bedroom has two twin beds. There is additional sleeping possibilities in the finished basement. Otherwise the large leather sectional couch can even add another sleeping location.

At the end of the day there are several choices to relax. A campfire in the stone fire pit will allow you to reflect on your days adventures while you roast some marshmallows and look at the stars. There is also a 7 person, 80 jet, 3 waterfall deluxe hot tub to help soothe your muscles after a day of hiking, snowmobiling, boating, four wheeling or whatever adventures your day entailed.

If the weather decides not to cooperate our house is equipped with lots of activities. The basement is fully furnished with a Plasma TV, Satellite HD receiver, blue ray player, movies, books, satellite internet and board games.

Every season offers a reason to return to the Chateau. Whether its snowmobiling on the number one rated trail in the world, ice fishing, four wheeling, sea doing, boating, hiking or just relaxing with a book in the fresh air , a stay at Chateau Shady Loop offers it all.

Great stay at Bonne Bay Big Pond
Wonderful location for visiting Gros Morne park. Hosts were very responsive with all my questions leading up to the visit as we were flying in and didn't know what we should bring. Beds were very comfortable and clean, kitchen was well equipped and hot tub worked great after long days of exploring the park. Thank you for opening up this gem of a cottage to visitors :).

Secluded cottage in a central location
Western Newfoundland is a hiker's paradise, and Bonne Bay Pond is a comfortable and convenient home base for your explorations. Western Brook Pond, the Tablelands and Deer Lake are all within a fairly short drive. For a longer outing, make your way to Corner Brook and then west to land's end at Bottle Cove. The trails there are fairly easy, and the views are stunning!

About the host

Host profile image
My wife Jen and I grew up in Ontario and have 2 boys. Jen is a Registered nurse and I am a business executive. We are both big foodies and we love seafood. I love the outdoors and enjoy salmon fishing and hiking. We currently live in Ontario.

Why they chose this property

We love Newfoundland. After 20 years of being a tourist in Newfoundland we decided to call it home! We were married in Newfoundland and have seen just about every corner of the island. The property was perfect for us. It is not far from the fish plant, the park, a lake, the airport and amenities in Deer Lake. The park is 2.5 hours across so the location of Chateau Shady Loop right in the middle of route across the park is perfect. We are big fans of Winter activities as well. Chateau Shady Loop averages 14 feet of snow in the winter and is only 50 min from Marble mountain for downhill skiing. We love everything about Chateau Shady Loop. We love sharing it with others so they can experience the beauty of Newfoundland, the people and the great outdoors.

What makes this property unique

When we stay in Shady Loop there are so many things we enjoy doing. Certainly taking in the fresh air, the sky FULL of stars and walking the beach are fovorites of ours. We LOVE seafood, so having the fish plant and proper grocery access nearby makes for OUTSTANDING meals.

Having Gros Morne national park only a few kilometres away makes for outstanding day trips. Whether it is out looking for moose, off hiking a mountain, or taking a walk at the tablelands - there is just so much to do!!!
