About this property

Summers Dream Log Cabin Close To Luray- A New Luxury Log Cabin

Very nice 2 bedroom 2 bath log cabin with great mountain views looking directly into the Shenandoah national park and skyline drive which is the highest elevation in our area. Relax in the 6 person hot tub complete with led lights and a plug in for iPhone to listen to music while you let the stress roll off you. Grill on the large deck that runs the whole length of cabin. Or sit awhile in the rockers on the screened porch, breathe that fresh mountain air!!! Roast marshmallows in the fire pit while the view overtakes you. Top of the line cabin with very nice kitchen with hickory cabinets and granite counters and stainless appliances, all hickory floors thru out, great room with large rock fireplace. 50' led TV with bluray player and sat dish. 2 full baths with granite vanities , 2 queen size log beds. The cabin has large windows that allow a lot of natural light to come in so from inside the cabin or on the screened porch or deck or when you are in the hot tub, you will be enchanted by the views, we can not say enough about the views!!! Private but close to all activities.

Not happy
Had this house booked for 3 days over Thanksgiving and ended up leaving a day early as we weren't comfortable there. Pros- nice layout and the great room was cool with all the wood, the view of the mountain was nice. Cons- the yard is unkempt. The house had a smell, there is a leak downstairs (which is under construction) and the discoloration of the ceiling made us worry about mold. The hot tub cover was in bad shape and inside the tub was pretty gross, so we didn't use. Couldn't get the fire working at all and there's no instructions. The floor wasn't clean - our kids feet were pretty dirty after running around when we arrived. There was trash all over the yard in front of the deck (which is rundown), which kind of ruins the view. We couldn't get the vrbo messaging to the host to work but finally tried texting the phone number on our last day. Was basically informed that it sounds have been clean, there was a new hot tub cover being ordered and the fire place should have been working. Not satisfied.

A bit misrepresented
First, the driveway to the property might not be accessible to all types of vehicles. The approach is very steep with some significant potholes and bumps. This is not the fault of the property owner, but just be warned. When we approached the cabin we were surprised at how overgrown the weeds were around the cabin. I get it! Weeds are a natural part of the environment. BUT when the weeds are so large that they not only climb all the way up onto the deck and make their way inside the grills which were on an enclosed porch, that’s a problem. Grills were advertised on the listing, but they are unusable. Just to reiterate, plant life is growing from the ground up into the enclosed deck and INTO the grills. Do not plan on grilling. Inside, it was very clean. The only furniture really is one sofa. That was fine for us since it was just 2 of us, but it was a little weird. There was a fireplace advertised, but it wasn’t functional. The remote needed new batteries. I contacted the owner who said he’d send someone up to give us batteries, but that never happened. So we bought our own batteries, and it still didn’t work. There is a “fire pit” advertised on the listing. This is a joke because it is literally 3 large stones in the parking area with one piece of burnt wood on top as if to say “hey! You can burn wood here!” There are no chairs or places to sit. Towels provided can only be described as prison issue. Bring your own towels.

Amazing view
Property was exactly as listed. It is beautiful with amazing view. Its close to everything you want to do. Only 2 complaints the deck had a board that was rotting away and if you weren't careful you could have stepped on a nail. The board was right outside the door going outside. Second was the fireplace. I could not get it lit. Not sure if the pilot light was out but some direction on how to get it lit would be helpful. Besides those 2 things I highly recommend this cabin. You will get your moneys worth.
