The Recycled House is a unique structure in Charlottesville's lovely North Downtown neighborhood. It is constructed primarily from materials that have come from somewhere else and are getting a second life. It took over six years to collect the materials and use them in a thoughtful way. The house was designed as a guest house and a lot of effort has been put into building a place that's welcoming, interesting and fun! The materials give the place a lot of soul, the light from the 33 windows is fantastic and the location could not be better!
Charlottesville's historic Downtown Mall is just 4 short blocks away giving you access to over 60 restaurants as well as movie theaters, concert venues, grocery stores and some great shopping--all within walking distance. The University of Virginia is less than 2 miles away and accessible by the free trolley service. Monticello is less than 5 miles away--about 10 minutes by car.
The Recycled House sleeps 6. There's a king-sized bed in the main bedroom. The upstairs loft has a sleeper sofa that sleeps two, and there's a queen-sized sofa sleeper downstairs in the living room. The sofa sleepers are very comfortable. All the linens are soft and the towels are fluffy. There's a half-bath downstairs and a full bath upstairs.
The kitchen is fully equipped with top-of-the-line Bosch appliances. There's a side porch, an upstairs deck outside with a tree house feel, and another deck off the kitchen in the back yard.
A washer/dryer is available off the upstairs bath.
Free wi-fi access is available.
The house is suitable for families with children. The staircase is a little steep, so you'll have to watch the little ones.
