About this property

Single family house, built in 2011, by the Atlantic Ocean. Now we have added a BBQ Cabin and a glass house over the hot tub.
3 bedrooms: master bedroom with king size bed and little sofa, second bedroom with two Twin beds that can be put together if desired and the third with 3 Twin beds, two of them can also be putted together.
Large and spacious bathroom with shower, one guest bathroom.
Complete kitchen with gas cooker, electric baking oven, microwave and Georg Forman grill. Kitchen, Dining room and Living room in one open space. 2 fireplaces.
Hot tub.
Magnificent views, in good visibility Snæfellsnes with the famous glacier 'Snæfellsjökull' is seen from the Living room window which is in 120 kilometer distance. The dorming Vulcan ' Keilir ' which is a popular hiking site is seen from the patio and the bedroom window and is in short distance. Various bird life, ideal for bird watching. Seals and swans on the sea. Northern lights ' Aurora Borealis' seen well when the conditions are right because here are no light pollution to disturb the beauty.
Golf Course is 1,5 miles away, driving to the Blue Lagoon takes 15 minutes. 15 minute drive to Keflavik and Reykjanesbæ where there are excellent restaurants and shops. 30 minute drive to Reykjavik. Reykjanes peninsula has many interesting places. ' look at this homepage to see what is on the doorstep. This is a perfect place to have base, as there is so many things there is to see in one day, for example one day is sufficient to drive the ' Golden Circle '. It is necessary to have a car if wanted to travel as there are no public transport in this area. This place is excellent to rest and relax after flying in to Iceland or before departure.

property and ideal base from which to explore southern Iceland, Golden Circle, Reykjavik etc. The Hot Tub and Barbecue Hut are great additions, and being in such a remote location with Dark Skies was great for viewing the Northern Lights. Host was fantastic and really felt like home from home. Would definitely use property again.

Great House / Perfect location

1. Met with owner on time great. 2. 15 mins from airport but great location by the sea with a really nice view. 3. Everything worked. Plenty of gear for cooking the hot tub takes 10 mins to get warm and is great after a long day of hikes. I can't recommend this house enough super snug comfortable beds and very quiet we had a great trip.

The best 6 nights of our lives

I and my partner Lindsay spent 6 lovely nights in this cosy home. We saw the Northern Lights 3 times, we got Engaged and used the hot tub every night, we felt completely safe and happy. Margret was a wonderful host, she helped with any questions we had and made things very easy for us. Love from Leo & Lindsay

Brilliant stay

The house was lovely and in a great location. By car it was easy to get from the airport, to Reykjavik, Blue Lagoon and Golden Circle. Being remote I was hoping to see seals and the Northern Lights and we saw both. There is a bit of light pollution from the neighbours but we still managed to see the Northern Lights clearly. Unfortunately the hot tub was out of action so can't comment about that. Margret was an excellent host, dealing with any enquiries that we had before, during and after our stay. One of our party left her mobile phone(!) and Margret very kindly and promptly sent it on. I would definitely recommend this accommodation and would stay again.

Possibly the best hosts ever!

I booked last minute to come and see the northern lights and really wasn’t disappointed. Margret is a fantastic host. She helped create the best possible conditions for us by turning out all of the external lights, even asking her neighbours to do the same to help us. Snow was a little heavy leading up to the house but Margret and family were always on call if we needed any help. House is very clean, warm, tidy and well-stocked. Thank you Margret! Tak fyrir!
