Excellent appartment in Kyoto
When I rent this property for my stay at Kyoto I thought it would be a fine house in a good location.
Not only was it very close to Karasuma Station where you have excellent transport links to Kyoto and other nearby cities but it was also very close to a very good and relatively cheap supermarket called Fresco.
The house itself:
It was excellent. It is a very charming traditional house with high standard technical facilities. The cooker, washing machine, air conditioner, laptop and the luxury bathroom are all of top notch quality. The house itself is very spacious. Not only is the main living area very comfortable for three people to stay in, but there is also a very large bedroom and large utility rooms.
Even though the house is very close to large roads it is so quiet. The only sound you hear were a kind of insects like a cricket.
The hostess was always very friendly and left excellent information behind in the house.
Activities:
There is loads to do both inside and outside of the city of Kyoto. Inside of Kyoto we have visited Nishiki Market which is a large farmers market as mentioned in the previous review. There is also a very large supermarket there which is owned by the Walmart company.
We also had a lovely experience in the Iwatayama Monkey Park and we enjoyed our visit to Kinkaku-ji temple. We also enjoyed walking through the city and visiting Book-Off stores where used video games and manga are sold at very low prices (all in Japanese though).
Outside of Kyoto we have enjoyed ourselves by going to Nara to visit the Deer Park and T?dai-ji temple which is the largest wooden building in the world and houses the world's largest bronze statue of the Buddha Vairocana.
We have also visited Den Den Town in Osaka which is the place to be for buying very cheap retro video games and other otaku items.
All in all it was a wonderful experienced and we loved out stay in Kyoto!
