Retreat to Elk Meadows
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Marsha’ home in Elk Meadows. The home was very clean and well stocked. Marsha made sure that the items we questioned were provided for us. Marsha and Jody are very pleasant to work with and we will love to come again. Mt. Sneffels was spectacular as well as the surrounding mountains.

Dreaming of Our Return
What a great place! We traveled from Denver to the Four Corners with stops throughout, traveling around for 1600 miles, but I was most anxious to lay my eyes on Mt Sneffels and Sneffels retreat did not disappoint! The home was very clean, nicely decorated, comfy beds and all the comforts of home. The view was great. The location was perfect for adventures in all directions. Unfortunately we had cloudy rainy and even snow on the Sneffel Range peaks on our 2 full days. Despite that it made for beautiful scenes as the clouds rolled through. I hope they continue to share their home with travelers like us, so we can return and imagine how lucky we are to "live" in a magical place if even just for a few days. The memories will last a lifetime.

Family escape Texas heat vacation
We could not have been happier with Sneefles Retreat! It was the nicest home we have stayed in...beautifully furnished the inside was as welcoming as the mountain views outdoors. This home is particularly nice for multi-generation families because it allows for separation and togetherness as desired. Our adult son enjoyed having his own retreat downstairs and joining us upstairs for family time. Loved that the home is away from town. The road is gravel but in good repair and easy to drive with very minimal if any washboard effect. This home is located in our favorite corner of Colorado and we hope to visit it again.

About the host

Host profile image
Jody and Marsha welcome you to their dream home. As outdoor enthusiasts, they have spent over 30 years exploring the hidden wonders of western Colorado. They completed their mountain retreat in 2010 and hope you too will come experience the grandeur of the San Juan Mountains.
Jody is research scientist who has spent his career cleaning up the legacy waste of the Cold War. He loves downhill skiing, biking, and mountain climbing. Marsha, a music teacher, loves spending time hiking, mountain biking, and playing with their grand children, 2 cats, and 2 llamas. She teaches Tai-chi, Yoga, and Pilates. They both love traveling and spending time with family. They are happy to help their guests enjoy there home, and create life long memories.

Why they chose this property

Jody grew up in Durango and always wanted to live in the mountains. After spending their honeymoon in the San Juan mountains, Jody and Marsha dreamed of having a place to share with family and friends. This spot is within an hour of many of the area's attractions. Our newly built home lets you experience life in the mountains with all the comforts of home at the end of the day.

What makes this property unique

With year round access, our guests can enjoy travel any time of the year. The cozy home allows you a place of refuge along with all the modern amenities. Our guests love the antiques and art that are displayed in the house. It is wonderful to sit on the sofa and watch the sunrises, and sunsets on Mt. Sneffles. The deck is a great place to relax, read, or eat. Seasonally, we watch the deer and elk stroll through the property. Hawks and other birds fly overhead. During the summer months, hummingbirds dart around stopping to drink from the seasonal wildflowers.
