We are a Gold Standard Certified Property!
This unique octagonal house sits at tree top level right at the water’s edge on a quiet stretch of white sand beach 4 miles north of San Pedro; far from the tourist scene, but a short walk along the beach to wonderful restaurants, beach bars and a great little grocery store. This is the ultimate location for diving, snorkeling or fishing, or just relaxing on the veranda looking out at the crystal clear turquoise water. There is a spectacular view of the waves breaking over the Meso American barrier reef, the second largest barrier reef in the world. The Tree House is the ideal spot for a romantic getaway, or for two couples or a small family. You’ll be living in a house, not a hotel or condo, with all the comfort and privacy of home. The fully equipped kitchen will inspire you to prepare fresh caught fish and tropical fruit as you enjoy the ocean view. Both bedrooms have queen size beds. The living room is a comfortable place to relax and look out at the ocean. It has a couch which folds out to a queen size bed. There is a 26 inch flat screen TV with cable and multiple streaming platforms.. , a blue tooth speaker, for you iPhone. and a land line. There is high speed Internet. There is weekly maid service (or more frequently upon request). The octagonal design and floor to ceiling windows of this unique house catch the ocean breezes so that our air-conditioning is seldom needed. Rubio, our caretaker, lives in a casita in the back of the property. You have your privacy, but he is there to assist you if needed. His chickens and friendly dogs give the place a homey, local feel. He will help you set up your kayak, or tell you the best places for snorkeling. The staff at Caye Management, our local management company, can answer any questions or book tours. They are available 24/7 in case of any problems. Our next door neighbor Geni is a dive master and tour guide. His boats sit next to our dock.
Our water supply comes from rain water stored in a cistern on the property. Because we are dependent on the rain for our water supply we ask guests to conserve water in the dry season. However, we never run out of water. The caretaker monitors the level in the cistern and we have water trucked out from town if necessary. We try to be environmentally conscious and use plant based detergent and a minimum of plastic. We ask that you bring a reusable water bottle. We provide a bubbler of bottled water to refill it. Please use the reusable shopping bags that we provide. You can swim or snorkel right off our dock. Recently, from time to time, we have had an influx of sargasso weed along the beach. At that point the best option is to take the kayaks out to the reef to swim and snorkel. Since they are sit-on-tops, it's not hard to get back in from the water. Or you can drive by golf cart to Secret Beach located directly across from us on the other side of the island. The staff at Caye management can arrange a golf cart rental. It is a great way to explore the island.
You can take a short bicycle or golf cart ride to a morning yoga class at the Ak’bol Yoga Retreat where classes are held on a platform built out over the ocean. You can schedule a massage at a local spa.
GETTING THERE:
