Uitsig the cottage that lives up to its name
We enjoyed our stay at Uitsig Cottage on the hillside of Glenridge Heights. The compact and homely cottage met all our needs. Everything from the panoramic views of False bay, the mountains and the beach with the train rattling along the edge, to the large fynbos garden are delightful. We certainly recommend this accommodation and would love to stay again if we come back to South Africa

Fantastic
We stayed here for a month and found the cottage to be very comfortable, clean and well equipped. The views are stunning from both inside and outside the property. Yvonne and Helmo are great hosts and have a vast knowldge of the area. We would have no hesitation in recommending a stay here.

Excellent hosts and location
After moving 'camp' 6 previous times starting in Durban, this was the perfect place to land for our longest (9 days) and final temporary home in South Africa. Yvonne is a fantastic host (Helmut was out guiding at the time). She is also a talented artist and the painting we brought back with us keeps South African memories going. As for the cottage, it's perfect for a couple. Kitchen, bath, bed, bedding, lighting, cleanliness, all great! The fynbos garden is awesome around the house. We did not want to stay in central Cape Town, and I don't think you can do better than this location if you are of the same opinion. We drove everywhere, although there is a train station into Cape Town nearby. You can go south to Simon's Town and to the end of the Cape Peninsula easily without bad traffic. Time it right and you can drive into central Cape Town in 30 min. Around 8:30 it took about 45 min. Better yet, take the Chapman's Peak route in and enjoy one of the most stunning drives in the world between this cottage and Cape Town and it takes about 45 min. As for the view, well, I have been fortunate to stay in quite a few view locations. This view is not to be taken lightly, it is stunning! Especially the change in light from sunrise to sunset. We hope to do the long trip from our corner of the world and stay again.

Perfection!
It is difficult to add to a full set of 5*s, but Uitsig Cottage truly IS outstanding! Yvonne and Helmo are perfect hosts and maintain the highest of standards in a breathtaking location. It is modern, spotlessly clean and everything you could possibly need is provided. Apart from an occasional foray for provisions, you could spend your entire time blissfully relaxing whilst overlooking the stupendous view. I know Glencairn Heights well, I only wish I had discovered Uitsig Cottage years ago. It is ideally situated to explore the many attractions of the Table Mountain National Park, from Cape Town itself all the way down the Peninsula to Cape Point. Beautiful scenery, a unique ecosystem, great and well marked hikes, fascinating history, fantastic restaurants, outstanding wines, even a nature reserve in the vlei below the cottage and much, much more are all there to explore. For those who do not know the area, in the cottage there is a comprehensive library of guides and suggestions for places to eat, visit and experience, and Yvonne & Helmo are a mine of information and helpful suggestions. If you need help or advice, they are always available to assist but if, like Garbo, you want to be alone, you will be! As an alternative to rushing about seeing amazing sights, you can do what I did – chill! Yes, just a few hikes, a little light photography, an occasional delicious meal out, but predominantly three weeks of the ultimate in relaxation on the deck at Uitsig – it means ‘view’, and boy what a view!

Fabulous
My wife and I have just returned from a fabulous 2 week stay in Uitsig Cottage The cottage is ideal for 2 people, clean, comfortable, peaceful with everything you need, and that view !! The hospitality of Yvonne and Helmo was enjoyed and much appreciated. There is so much to see and do in and around the Cape, our 2 weeks hardly seemed long enough. Ideally located for Cape Town and surrounds, always nice to return to Glencairn and Uitsig after the days adventures. If you are looking for a lazy day on the beach, there are spectacular white sand beaches, virtually around every corner. We have nothing but good things at say about our stay at Uitsig Cottage, absolutely loved Cape Town and South Africa. Fantastic holiday.
