Great family villa
The villa has an effective combination of traditional and modern styles. The kitchen is really well-equipped for cooking for large groups and the outside spaces have lots of chairs/tables etc. There is an outside area for cooking outside as well if the weather gets very hot which is a great addition. Private pool is a good size and well-maintained.
La Herradura is a small coastal town with plenty of places to eat & drink and a long beach of stones and dark sand. A really nice spot for a break and withing easy striking distance of Malaga, Grenada, Nerja etc.
Couple of things to mention:
- if you are arriving in the dark take a torch with you. The name of the property is clearly written on the side of the villa but it is not clear in the dark
- there is a keyless entry system using a keypad. We found this to be inconsistent during the week - it rarely worked first time and a few times we had to use the key that we got from inside the property. My recommendation would be to take the key with you as back up although the property owners assured me that there had not been any problems before
- the path from the villa to the town of La Herradura is very steep and the first 200m of the path are rough stone & gravel. It takes around ten minutes to walk down and probably 15 to walk back. Again my advice would be to have a torch if you are doing this in the dark (I left a torch in the house for future guests) but also if there are any travellers in your group who have any mobility issues this path is going to be difficult for them. You can go to the town via the road - I guess this would be around 30 minutes to walk but again a steep climb on the way back.
