So.....Kick back, relax and enjoy ocean views from your living room, front deck and crow's nest.

This sunny, comfortable cottage is updated every year to make it all new for you! You'll enjoy its bright, open, airy interior with cathedral ceilings and its location - just one street back from the beach road with a direct access (100 yards/300 feet) path straight through to the beach or you can take either cross street. There are no houses built along this stunning stretch of Kitty Hawk coastline.

The cottage is also on a quiet street that is perfect for walking or biking and is close to some of my favorite Outer Banks restaurants, shops and many other Outer Banks attractions.

PLEASE NOTE:
Owner provides bed linens and bath towels for a small additional charge if requested in advance of check-in. The cottage rental does not include beach towels, toiletries or unlimited paper products. As a courtesy we do provide a starter pack that includes two rolls of toilet paper, a roll of paper towels, two trash bags, two dishwasher tabs, two laundry tabs, a sponge and some dishwasher liquid. Please plan accordingly for longer stays.

Kitty Hawk is a wonderful place to vacation and there are plenty of activities to enjoy in addition to the beautiful beaches:

* Movie theatre within 2 miles of cottage.
* Nearby Waterpark!
*Several public golf courses.
*Miniature golf.
*Kayak, canoe, windsurfer and jet ski rentals.
*Hang-gliding or kite flying at Jockey's Ridge.
*Surfing.
*Jockey's Ridge National Park - where Wilbur and Orville Wright took the first flight- features a flight museum and one of the highest sand dunes on the East Coast. Enjoy a sunset there!
*Roanoke Island is about 12 miles to the south across the Sound. The town of Manteo has a great aquarium and wonderful little art galleries, shops and cafes as well as the gorgeous Elizabethan Gardens. In the summer there are nightly performances of 'The Lost Colony' about the ill-fated first British settlement in the new world.
*Fine dining or casual local spots close by.
*Ferry trip to Ocracoke. Hour's drive to the dock in Hatteras and then 45 minute ride across. Ferries are free and run frequently in summer. Take a bike and explore the Island.

Beautiful beach house at OBX

What a wonderful place it was to spend a few days. It was our first visit to OBX, and I only wish we had more time. The house was beautiful, comfortable, and peaceful. It had everything we needed! We enjoyed having coffee on the porch in the morning looking out over the ocean, and stargazing with our son from the crow's nest at night. The house's close proximity to the beach was perfect, and it was conveniently located not too far from a walmart which had everything we needed to help supplement our stay. It was a memorable experience in Kitty Hawk, and I look forward to returning one day with my family.

Attention to Detail

Arrival and check in easy, first appearance of property was good, but we did notice animal smells and upon removal of the throw rug from the living quarters it was much better. There was an animal bedding in master closet that made the closet smell also. Removal of that would help that situation. A lot of animal hair under all the furniture and dirt and sand also. Some cereal droppings and food also under furniture. Housekeeping should move furniture around to resolve that. We only used one bedroom and one bathroom as there were just the two of us so we closed off the rest of the house and did not use. Main entrance door jamb has been damaged and not repaired with door parts laying on top of refrigerator. Bedding in master had several bad disgusting stains on the top comforter. Well there were several black hairs on sheets also. We planned our trip with our personal bedding so that was just removing supplied linens and using ours , but it should be addressed. The property is in need of some minor cosmetic touch ups and more attention to cleaning areas that get over looked. In short we were okay with the property as it was convenient for us to vacation. Would we stay there again, probably but we move around to different locations and most likely won’t be back to that area.

Home met our expectations and exceeded in others. Very pet friendly. The coffee maker needed to be replaced and it was done so the next day. Just a short walk to the beach.

I'm from Richmond, Virginia. I've been coming to the Outer Banks since I was a child and was thrilled to buy my own cottage in 2003. I'm happy to be able to share my spot with others who love the area as much as I do.

Why they chose this property

Kitty Hawk is a bit quieter than the areas farther south and my neighborhood in particular is special because it has a stretch of beach that has no houses, a wide street with sidewalks without much traffic and an abundance of top restaurants nearby.

What makes this property unique

Cozy Cottage in Kitty Hawk is located on a quiet, very residential street with sidewalks and is only a block from the least crowded beach in Kitty Hawk. It is bright, airy and comfortable.
