About the property

Self-catering property - ideal year round holiday location

This attractive and welcoming stone terraced self-catering cottage is on three floors to make the most of the exceptional views down a tidal creek bordered by woodlands. It is one of eight similar cottages (2 of the others can be rented) in a converted malt house facing the creek. The property is decorated to a high standard and well-equipped. Guests can enjoy watching the varied bird and water life from the small west-facing balcony and use the private garden and slipway which provides easy access to the creek. There are two car parking spaces opposite the property. Creek View is popular with families during school holidays and with couples and groups of friends at other times. With its proximity to Plymouth, Dartmoor, Cornwall ,water sport centres and excellent beaches there is much to do and see. Guests at Creek View can use the leisure facilities at the Dartmouth Golf & Country Club (jacuzzi, fitness centre, indoor swimming pool and 2 golf courses) at a reduced fee. Creek View is equipped with wireless broadband.

Locality: Noss Mayo and its twin Newton Ferrers are picturesque sailing villages at the mouth of the beautiful Yealm estuary 10 miles from Plymouth. There are excellent pubs offering home made food within walking distance. The village shops cater for most needs. Good sandy beaches are within a 10 minute drive. Fishing and crabbing can be enjoyed on the creek. Access to National Trust Woodlands and the Coastal Path is nearby. Bigbury, Thurlestone and St.Mellion are among several excellent golf couses in the area.

Changeover details: The property is available on a Friday - Friday basis. Guests are asked to arrive after 3pm and to depart before 10am.

We had another lovely stay thanks.  We managed to dodge the rain most days.  The box full of leaflets for places to see/stuff to do was very handy! ....we love the property and it's setting and we're very likely to contact you again next year!

Noss Mayo and Newton Ferrers face each other across a creek in the beautiful wooded estuary of the River Yealm, a haven for lovers of the English countryside with its appealing waterside cottages and local pubs. A variety of sailing dinghies and smaller boats create a colourful scene for all who visit. Newton Ferrers is popular with visiting yachtsmen during the summer and together with Noss Mayo boasts several delightful waterside restaurants to complete the atmosphere. A ferry connects Newton Ferrers with a secluded cove and the well known South West coastal path.

Notes:
Suitable for active elderly. Would also appeal to couples who want to get away from it all. The main bedroom faces up a tidal creek with wonderful views. Public tennis courts in Noss Mayo. Dinghy/motor boat/rowing boat can be hired. Night storage heaters. Downstairs off 3rd twin-bedded room is a boathouse/storage area (ideal for bicycles, water sports gear etc) with tumble drier. Off-street parking for 2 cars in designated parking spaces in front of property. Two other properties in the Malt houses are available for rent and may be considered if a party bigger than 6 wishes to holiday together. One property sleeps 4 and the other 3. Both have the same views looking up the creek.

Lovely location - good facilities

Creek View is located in a beautiful, very peaceful place, right next to a scenic Creek and estuary. The accommodation was clean and has everything you need, with clear and detailed instructions.

Only downsides (minor):

- shame there doesn't seem to be shops within easy walking distance

Great location

We enjoyed a lovely week at Creek View. The location of the property is idyllic with easy walking distance to the co-op and post office. The view from Creek View is stunning. Having easy access directly from the property to the slipway was great as we spent a lot of time kayaking on the river. I understand that the property itself is undergoing updating, which is great as it currently feels quite tired and dated in places. All in all we had a lovely holiday and would definitely return to Noss Mayo/Newton Ferrers.

Owner's Response: Unfortunately Creek View will never compare to the next door property where our guests had previously stayed, where no expense was spared on complete renovation of the property by the former owners. Investment has been made this year on renovating the downstairs bedroom and shower / toilet facilities; also the internal and exterior of the property was repainted in May. Improvements will be made on the upstairs bathroom next year. As the reviewer states the location is 'idyllic'. If you want a property where water location/views are key, Creek will always score 5 out of 5 .

The location of the cottage was brilliant with a fantastic view of the estuary

The cottage was well equipped, and we particularly enjoyed the dvds and games.

Everything was in working order apart from the upstairs toilet which is leaking from the cistern and does not flush properly.

OK house in a very nice area

We were two in the house which could sleep six, so we had plenty of space. No private outdoor area but a small communal lawn in the front. Very nice view of the creek from the small veranda.

(A knife sharpener is needed for the kitchen knives 😉?)

Fabulous location, property somewhat tired

The house could hardly be in a better location with fabulous views over the creek. Our enjoyment of the area was limited by bad weather and the roads in South Devon are very challenging. The property is tired and in need of some investment in a new kitchen, bathroom and general decoration. We felt it was not very well equipped and seemed unloved.

Owner's Response: Sadly there is little we can do about the weather or South Devon's roads. We can well understand our guests frustrations. We are ourselves frustrated that having embarked on an extensive re-decoration / refurbishment programme starting in May, re-painting and renovating part of the property, our guests reaction was so negative. We will be posting new photos of the property onto the website for potential guests to make their own judgements. Creek is a wonderfully situated holiday cottage with appeal to various holiday segments; families, couples and the occasional groups. It is a property that is loved and well looked after and will over the next year be further upgraded.
