About this property

This charming second-floor apartment was completely restored and refurbished in 2004. Features Italian marble floors, hand-cut mosaic detail in the bathroom, Venetian chandeliers.

Master bedroom with full-size double bed, parquet flooring, fitted wardrobe, Venetian chandelier. Sofa bed in living room pulls out to double bed.
The kitchen is fully fitted and is divided from the living room by a worktop and breakfast bar. Living room has sofa and dining table for 6.
It has air conditioning, floor heating and internet wi-fi.

Our apartment is located in the university district and just two bridges from Campo Santa Margherita which is noted on Public Places ''60 of the Worlds Greatest Places'' list and it is the largest square in Venice and a popular hangout for Venetians young and not so young. It has a great choice of restaurants and cafes and a vegetable and fish market. You can sit in the sun and enjoy a coffee or a cocktail and watch the world go by.

The Gaffaro apartment (named after the bridge it overlooks) is conveniently located for your arrival and departure as it is a short walk from the train station and the bus station at Piazzale Roma. You can walk to Rialto in 15 minutes and get to St. Mark's square in 20 minutes by taking the vaporetto at San Toma'.

Amazing!

The most perfect apartment - a home away from home. Amazing views, amazing location and fantastic host - grazie mille Sebastiano! * Lots of fantastic restaurants, bars and cafes in the area. * Very quiet at night. * Close to train and bus station. * Away from the touristy areas so we experiences the real Venice! We will definitely be back!

Great place to stay in Venice

We loved our stay here. From the very start, Sebastiano was very helpful, friendly and gave clear instructions. The flat is located really nicely not too far from the bus and train station, as well as being not too far from San Marco and the main canal boats. Its in a really pleasant area with all you need close by. Flat was a good size, really well equipped and all furnishings and appliances of a high quality. We loved relaxing in a chair next to the windows overlooking the canal below. I was slighgly concerned that it may be noisy but shut the windows and you couldn't hear anything when in the bedroom. Very good value when you look at the other offerings in Venice, would definitley stay here again if coming back.

Modern interior in a quieter part of the Centro Storico

Oct 2021 Sebastiano a great host full of tips. Nice view of a T-junction of the canals and bridges means it's a great spot for people watching. Everything is clean and modern with an above average kitchen for a property of its size. Modern bathroom, though I assume the low water pressure is Venice related. Bed didn't seem great quality and consequently I didn't sleep so well. Location is good on arrival as close to (but not in sight/hearing distance) of the main access point from the mainland to the 'Centro Storico' but this does then mean a fair walk to get anywhere thereafter. This also means fewer tourists and no late night noise. Yes, you could take the Vaporetti but these are incredibly confusing by European public transport standards. Bancomat, pharmacy, post office and restaurants all on the doorstep. On Venice: Great that there are no more cruise ships but there are still too many tourists even in October - they really need a permit system. The food is extremely average by Italian standards - I think perhaps Venetians should visit other parts of Italy to understand what I mean (they are not missing what they never had!) but I guess people are not visiting Venice for its food... Covid means prebooking things which is a pain. Huge queues for the Doge's Palace, so I skipped that and went to the superlative Accademia gallery with no queues and no booking required. It's like an IMAX version of a regular world class gallery such is the enormity of its giant canvases. Far more interesting and moving than the over hyped Peggy Guggenheim muesum. It is a beautiful place, but such is the reality of the world, I sometimes felt as if I was walking around Europapark/Disneyland. Get lost, immerse yourself and if you want good food - head to Bologna.

Great place at a great location

Sebastiano was a great host and waited for us to give us all information regarding the apartment and the area. The flat was very well equipped for real cooking to be done. What a pleasure to have a gas stove and an oven and not just a microwave ;-) All in all a great place to be in Venice

Me and my wife lived in this apartment untill 2008, so we made it as we liked and everything has been recently renovated. It is in a central and residential area of Venice, Dorsoduro, where you can find all the shops for your needs, from the organic products to the baker, butcher, pharmacy, etc...

What makes this property unique

The view! from the three windows in the living room/kitchen you can enjoy the view of three canals passing by the apartment with all sorts of boats, private/gondolas with singer/working boats. You don't even need to go out, just by a bottle of cool Prosecco and enjoy Venice from you holiday home!
