About the property

Vumba has unique conditions which offer our guests the quiet enjoyment of a genuine rural experience. Our farm has several trails and five idyllic ponds. Isolated from the outside world, you will find the ideal combination of natural resources in order to enjoy nature in peace.

The renovation of our old vineyard yielded a cozy little house, ideal for a family or a group of friends, with two rooms, a cozy living room, a bathroom and a beautiful and well-equipped kitchen with a fireplace.

Our estate

Vumba is a small, family-run business that is committed to efforts to maintain traditions while trying to offer its customers and guests a highly professional service. Our country estate in the village of São Martinho da Cortiça from which came our grandparents, consists of a 140-hectare land with green pastures and charming groves. The farm and the surrounding area are a paradise for hikers and bikers.

five to ten organic cheese brand of Quinta do Carapinhal are produced by hand each day on our farm. The milk from which it is produced comes from our own herd of about 200 sheep of "Bordaleira Serra de Estrela" breed.

Our tourism consists of three cozy inns (Alambique, home of the lizard and house of the owl) and two elegant suites (Bue Maria and Gorongoza). All houses and suites have access to a living room, with dining room and kitchen, and a swimming pool which is surrounded by a beautiful garden.

Most of the time we are living on the farm and give our guests like to support. We await your questions, suggestions or needs at your fingertips; but otherwise we can enjoy your holidays in private and in peace.

Among other things, the following programs are available and can be ordered until 19 00 on the day before a picnic or sundowner at the pond, Farm Safari and a tour of the farm.

The environment

Vumba and the surrounding area are a paradise for hikers and bikers. The beauty of the landscape is enhanced by the imposing mountains surrounding the region. On the horizon you can see in a full, uninterrupted 360 ° panoramic view of the Serra do Açor and Serra da Lousã, Serra do Buçaco and Caramulo.

The most famous landmark of the area is the village of Piódão, but there are many other attractions that are virtually unknown, as the Margaraça forest Fronhas dam and the river Alva, the best kept secret in Europe Flyfishing.
