Beautiful cottage with stunning views. Lovely pool and gardens.

Really enjoyed staying at the Casa Turquesa. It had plenty of shade to shield you from the strong afternoon sun but sunny spots if you wanted them. We loved the pool and went in it at least once everyday, usually more. There was a lovely table space outside, where we had most of our meals, or inside if preferred. The bedrooms and bathrooms were clean and nicely decorated. We had a problem with no hot water on arrival but the owner was very efficient in getting the boiler replaced quickly, so it didn't spoil our holiday. The air conditioning in the bedrooms was a godsend as we had some very warm nights during our stay. Also, it meant that we could close the windows, thus avoiding the noise from the local children playing until midnight in the square outside our room, and the cockerel's wake up call at 6am every morning! The biggest challenge were the access roads coming into the village and parking in the church square. The roads are very steep with sharp corners and I think there should be a warning as some people would struggle with this. Also, it was very difficult to get a parking space in the square nearest to our cottage, often resulting in us having to park elsewhere in the village and walk up to the cottage (not ideal when you have cases or food shopping).

Another thing that would have been helpful is an information folder in the cottage with details about local supermarkets and restaurants, as well as local beaches and tourist attractions. I know there was information on-line but it would be good to have a folder to look through on arrival. Overall, we loved the house, with its beautiful lemon and avocado trees, jasmine bushes and stunning views across the valley. We were impressed with the owner's attention to detail (e.g. mosquito repellent plug ins & plenty of towels). We had a fantastic holiday!

Owner's Response: We're happy that you enjoyed your stay at Casa Turquesa! Thank you for mentioning the access road and the parking. We always try to make sure to give the relevant information to our guests before they arrive. But it's a good point, so we will provide more information about the different options to access the village and where to park, in the descriptions. Taking into account the specific situation in August, this is high sesaon in Spain, and a lot more people are coming to the small countryside villages, thus sometimes leading to a higher demand in parking facilities than a mountain-village can provide on its squares. As stated in the description, the house has no private parking (like most village-houses in rural Andalucia), but there's a public car park at the church square nearby (approx. 50 m from the house), where even when there's no parking space available, you can at least unload your baggage and shopping, then park the car afterwards. So there's no need to carry your items far. Also we keep at least 1 parking space reserved for our guests on the arrival day, even for late arrivals. The parking situation is much more relaxed the rest of the year, when the village is tranquil. The steep access road might be a challenge, but so far all of our guests have mastered it. There's also a less steep road which leads to another entrance to the village with public parking facilities, from there it's a 3 minute walk to the house. We provide information about local facilities and attractions via the "Mobile Hospitality Manager" for homeaway/owners-direct guests, where information can be updated easily and is always at hand, also we love to personally give information about the area and places to visit.

Un oasis de tranquilidad

Lo que más nos gustó de la casa fue el jardín con vistas a todo el valle, no queríamos hacer otra cosa que desayunar durante horas en la gran mesa del porche y pasarnos todo el día allí! Se está super tranquilo y a gusto, no hace demasiado calor en verano al estar un poquito en la montaña, alejado del barullo de la playa y está muy resguardado además de no tener vecinos. Hay paseos geniales por el valle y está muy cerca tanto de Granada como de la playa para pasar unos días relajándose en el sur. Queremos volver!! P.D. Hay una tiendita con todo lo necesario en el pueblo

Highly recommended: lovely house, delicious pool, sublime surroundings

Friends had told us that we should pass by Los Guajares on our way from Granada to the Cost (we were on our way to Almuñécar). We spend three days (two nights) in this valley in this very lovely and beautifully decorated house, with beautiful views, and a really nice pool, owned by a very friendly and hospitable couple: Trini, who is Spanish, and Mark, who is German but has a well-developed sense of humour (and speaks English).

What a pity that we had to leave. Two nights is way too short. This is an ideal place to spend a long holiday (also because it is so near to the coast) and we will certainly come back. We had a long walk along the Rio de la Toba and to the ruins of an old Moorish castle , we had a lovely walk and picnic above Guajar Alto with stunning scenery all around us. We even picked some avocado’s and mango’s (we had to take them with us, for they took more than a week to ripe)! And we had a simple but delicious Spanish afternoon meal in Guajar Alto. From the terrace of the house we had great views of the bright starry sky. We felt so much at home! Wish we were still there.

The house is close to the Costa Tropical, subtropical eastern part of the Costa del Sol. In the calm valley of Los Guajares, only 20 min. From the beach, 40 min. From Granada, 35 min. From the Alpujarras, 35 mins. To the Nerja Caves, the famous caves. In Guajar Faragüit there are ruins of a Moorish fort.

At about 300 m asl iam the outskirts of the white village Guajar Fondon, convenient access and parking directly at the church, from there 50 meters walk, with views of the mountains of the Sierra de Los Guajares and the valley of the Rio de la Toba.

The quiet location and the good transport links right on the highway GR 3204 Los Guajares -. Pinos del Valle, 15 minutes from the A44 motorway Motril - Granada and the A-7 Almeria - Malaga) make it an ideal starting point for various activities such as hiking , horse riding, climbing, swimming, surfing, kite surfing, jet skiing, golf, skiing, paragliding, canyoning, mountain biking, etc. 20 min. from the beach, 30 min. from Almuñécar, 25 min. of Salobreña, 45 min. from Granada , 1.5 hrs. from the ski resort of Sierra Nevada, 1.5 hours. of Malaga, 2.5 hrs. from Cordoba, 3 hrs. of Seville, diff. Nature parks nearby.

Other Activities: Ski in the Sierra Nevada (December to April) 1.5 hrs, bicycle rental in Almuñecar..
