Beautiful Apartment Beautiful Area
Traditional wood panelled apartment, large living space, kitchen and dining area. Two good size bedrooms. Large bathroom with bath, shower and WC, also a seperate WC. Large Family balcony with great views. A luxury feel to the whole apartment. The owners were lovely people and extremely helpful. Perfect, just perfect.

Fantastic apartment
A fabulous apartment really comfortable and well equipped. The owners were really accommodating and provided all we needed without being obtrusive. An absolute gem that we would return to. Had a gorgeous meal at the Freihof Hotel with huge portions. The Konus Card was well used as the train service in the area is excellent and we would recommend Gegenbach and Freiburg for visits. The Barenpark in an adjoining valley is well worth the visit. Loved the bears and wolves. The tourist information in the village were really helpful and provided us with maps and train timetables as well as useful advice. Fantastic walking in the area and I would recommend the Schwartzwald app which gives access to a huge range of walks and interactive walking maps. The Black Forest is a beautiful area that we will return to and is still relatively undiscovered by British holiday makers.

Lovely Apartment
A really large apartment and very well appointed. The apartment is part of a large traditional house on the first floor with your own entrance from the communal stairs. The owners live downstairs and were very welcoming but not intrusive. The owners speak very little English and the local information in the apartment was all in German, but we coped with some of the information that we received from the local tourist office. The house/apartment is in the centre of town in a small estate of similar traditional properties. The local station was just around the corner and we went everywhere on local trains using the free Konus card. It pays to do a little research on the area to know where to visit; we enjoyed Gengenbach, Schital, Nordrach, Baden Baden and Frieburg. The Konus card is a real bonus and the car hardly moved while we were there. There is a good bakers two minutes from the apartment but no supermarkets. The nearest are Penny in Unteharmersbach and ED in Zell am Harmersbach. The only downside was that the washing machine was in the cellar and shared with the owners, we would have preferred one in the apartment. On our departure, the owner tried to charge us 2 Euros per person per day local tax, however when we showed him the breakdown of cost from Owners Direct that included this tax and had already been paid, he had to admit that we didn't owe this amount. We really enjoyed our stay in Oberhamersbach. The area is beautiful and there are endless walks and cycle rides. Not many people in the area speak English but we got by and everyone is so friendly. The whole time we were there we never saw or spoke to any other Brits and it is obviously an area that doesn't get many visitors from the UK which is a shame as we found the German locals and visitors alike to be extremely welcoming. We will definitely be returning to the Black Forest in the future as it is so stunningly beautiful and we would certainly consider returning to this apartment.

Charming apartment in lovely Black Forest village
This charming apartment is in the middle of the lovely village of Oberharmersbach and is part of but completely separate to the main house on the first floor. The balcony has wonderful views and was much used in the evening with a glass good local wine (they keep all the good stuff) and beer! The hosts are very friendly and very kindly provided us with fruit, wine and beer when we discovered that nearly everything closes on Sundays. The Bakery - about a 1 minute walk - is thankfully open 7 days a weeks and there are also two restaurants (in Hotels) in the village which are fine for local cuisine and beer. A small supermarket open 0800>2200, 6 days a week is a further 5 mins walk down the road. The village even has a open air swimming pool and crazy goal course. We enjoyed village life and there is a local train, but a hire car is advisable for ease of touring around. Offenburg is the nearest big town and about 35 mins away. Strasbourg/Colmar on the French side were about 75 mins. You can even get to Switzerland in a couple of hours, should you wish! One extra 'local thing to do' recommendation is the local Bear and Wolf sanctuary called 'Bärenpark' where you can see Bears and Wolves close up. Highly recommended for a genuine German Black Forest Village experience with plenty to do in the beautiful countryside of Germany and nearby France.
